Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

DStv XtraView: linking two decoders on one subscription

How DStv XtraView links a second decoder, who can use it, how to set it up and how to work out whether the access fee saves you money.

The short answer

XtraView links a second compatible DStv decoder to your main one so two TVs in one home can watch different channels on one package; you pay the package once plus a monthly access fee for the second decoder. MultiChoice sets the fee, which the MyDStv app or DStv's WhatsApp line (+234 908 236 8533) shows; we could not confirm a current official figure.

XtraView is MultiChoice's name for linking a second DStv decoder to your main one, so that two TVs in the same home can watch different channels on one package. You pay your package once plus a separate monthly XtraView access fee, rather than two full subscriptions. MultiChoice sets the fee and the rules, and we could not open an official page stating the current Nigerian figure, so this guide explains how the arrangement works and where the fee is shown.

How the cost works

On an XtraView account, the primary decoder carries the package and the second decoder is billed an access fee. The main saving is that the second TV does not need its own package. Whether the arrangement saves you money depends on the fee and on your package.

Worked example

Example only. Take Compact at ₦19,000, the price MultiChoice announced for 1 March 2025, and suppose the access fee shown to you in the app were ₦X a month.

Set-upMonthly cost
Two separate Compact subscriptions₦19,000 + ₦19,000 = ₦38,000
One Compact plus XtraView₦19,000 + ₦X
Saving each month₦19,000 − ₦X

So XtraView saves money whenever the access fee is below the price of a second package, which it is designed to be. Insert the fee you see in the MyDStv app to get your own figure.

Who can use it

  • You need two compatible DStv decoders. Not every model can be linked; MultiChoice or an accredited installer can confirm yours.
  • Both decoders are on one account, with the main decoder carrying the package.
  • Both normally sit in one home, linked by cabling from a shared dish. MultiChoice's terms set the exact conditions; read them in the app or ask on WhatsApp before buying a second decoder.

Setting it up

  1. Confirm both decoders are XtraView-capable, by asking DStv on WhatsApp (+234 908 236 8533) or live chat.
  2. Have an accredited installer link the decoders and run cabling from the dish. DStv's contact page links to a dealer and installer finder.
  3. Ask MultiChoice to link the second smartcard to your account as XtraView.
  4. Pay your package and the access fee the account shows.
  5. Switch both decoders on and wait. If either shows E16, clear it from the MyDStv app or *288#.

Common problems

The second TV only shows what the first one shows

That is a single decoder split to two TVs, not XtraView. Each TV needs its own linked decoder to watch a different channel.

Price changes

When MultiChoice changes package prices, the access fee may change too. Check both after any announcement; the DStv price history records the dated rises.

Moving house

When you move, both decoders, the dish and the cabling move with you, and the link between the decoders usually needs an installer to set up again at the new address. Tell MultiChoice about the move through chat or WhatsApp so the account stays linked, and budget for installation as well as the monthly fee.

Upgrading one TV only

On XtraView both decoders share one package, so you cannot normally put the bedroom TV on a cheaper bouquet than the living room. If the two TVs need different packages, two separate subscriptions may suit better. See Compact vs Compact Plus vs Premium to choose the package.

Is XtraView worth it for you

Think about how the second TV is actually used. XtraView earns its keep where two people regularly want to watch different things at the same time, for example football in the sitting room while children watch cartoons elsewhere. If the second TV is switched on a few hours a week, the access fee may cost more than it saves in arguments; streaming on a phone for those hours could be cheaper. If both TVs need their own different bouquets, two separate subscriptions give that flexibility, at a higher total.

  • Two viewers at once most evenings: XtraView usually suits.
  • Second TV used rarely: compare the access fee with streaming or simply sharing the main TV.
  • Two homes, such as a family house and a shortlet: separate subscriptions, since XtraView is meant for one home.

What to check first

  • The current XtraView access fee, shown in the MyDStv app or given on WhatsApp.
  • Whether both of your decoder models support XtraView.
  • Whether both TVs can reach the same dish without long cable runs.

Where Pryme fits

Package and access fee are both paid as one DStv bill, which you can pay from a Pryme account (TV bills); a Personal Assistant (set one up) can prepare the payment ahead of the due date for you to approve.

Questions people ask

How much is DStv XtraView in Nigeria?

The access fee is set by MultiChoice and shown in the MyDStv app or on DStv's WhatsApp line. We could not confirm a current official figure.

Can I use XtraView in two different houses?

XtraView is designed for two decoders in one home. MultiChoice's terms set the conditions, so ask before linking decoders at different addresses.

Do I pay two subscriptions with XtraView?

No. You pay one package plus the XtraView access fee for the second decoder.

Why does my second DStv decoder show E16?

Usually the access fee has not been paid or the decoder missed the signal. Check the account, clear the error and wait about 15 minutes.
