Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

DStv error E48-32: no signal, how to fix it yourself

E48-32 means your decoder has lost the satellite signal. Weather, cables, a restart, dish and LNB checks, and when to call an installer.

The short answer

E48-32 means your DStv decoder has lost the satellite signal; DStv titles it "Weather" because rain and storms are the usual cause. If the weather is clear, check the dish cable at the back of the decoder, restart the decoder at the wall (off for at least 10 seconds), then check signal strength; a dish knocked out of line or a faulty LNB needs an installer.

Unlike E16 or E30, E48-32 is not about your account. It means the decoder is not getting a usable signal from the dish. No payment or "clear error" request will fix it. The good news is that the most common causes can be checked in a few minutes without climbing onto the roof.

What E48-32 means

DStv's error code list titles E48-32 "Weather", and its detail page names stormy weather and rain as the common cause. The related code E48 is titled "Searching for Signal". Heavy rain weakens satellite signals, so during a downpour the picture can freeze and then drop to E48-32, coming back when the rain eases.

DStv lists other signal-side codes worth knowing: E73 "TV link overload", E74 "LNB1 overload" and E75 "LNB2 overload". The LNB is the small unit at the end of the dish arm that collects the signal; an overload message points to a wiring or LNB fault rather than weather.

Fix it yourself, in this order

  1. Look outside. If it is raining hard, DStv says the signal should return once conditions improve. DStv suggests its streaming service in the meantime; see our guide to the DStv app versus the decoder.
  2. Check the cables. If the weather is fine, DStv's first step is to make sure the cable from the dish is properly connected to the decoder. Push the connector in firmly and screw it finger-tight if it is a threaded type. Look along the cable for cuts, crushing under doors or chewing by rodents.
  3. Restart the decoder. Switch it off at the wall plug, wait at least 10 seconds, then switch it back on. This is DStv's own instruction.
  4. Check signal strength. Press Help on the remote, then General Information, then Tuner Status, and look at Tuner 1 and Tuner 2. DStv's E16 guidance says that if the signal is low, contact an installer.
  5. Check the dish from the ground. A dish that has been knocked, loosened by wind or blocked by a new building or tree can lose its line to the satellite.

Dish, LNB and cable: what you can and cannot do

PartYou can checkLeave to an installer
Cable at decoderConnector seated and tight, no visible damageReplacing long cable runs through walls
Wall plate or splitterLoose fittings, water in outdoor jointsRewiring, multi-room setups
DishVisible damage, obvious tilt, new obstructionRe-aiming or remounting
LNBVisible cracks or water ingress, E74/E75 messagesTesting and replacement

When to call an installer

  • Signal stays low or at zero in clear weather after the cable checks and a restart.
  • The dish has visibly moved after wind, roof work or painting.
  • You see LNB overload messages (E74 or E75) or the error persists in several rooms.
  • The problem started after a new decoder or extra-view installation. See our Xtraview guide.

DStv's website links to a "Find an Installer" page. Use an installer found there or recommended by DStv, ask for the price before work starts, and keep a receipt. NaijaTechGuide (July 2026) reports installation costing ₦5,000 to ₦25,000 plus any cable, as at that date; treat it as a rough guide and get a quote.

During the rainy season

Rain-related signal loss tends to follow the rainy season rather than signal a fault. A few habits reduce the disruption:

  • Do not touch the dish or cable during a storm. Wait until the rain has passed and the screen has had time to recover.
  • If the signal only drops in heavy rain and returns quickly afterwards, the installation is probably fine.
  • If the signal drops in light rain, or takes hours to return, the dish may be slightly off target or a connector may be letting water in. That is worth an installer's visit before the next storm.
  • Keep outdoor connectors covered or sealed; water in a joint can weaken the signal for days.

Keep a note of when the problem happens. An installer can diagnose a fault faster if you can say whether it is weather-linked, constant, or started after a specific event.

Worked example

Example only. After a storm, Chika's screen shows E48-32 for two hours after the rain stops. The cable at the back is firm, and a restart does not help. Tuner Status shows Tuner 1 at zero. From the yard she sees the dish tilted downwards. She books an installer, who re-aims it for a quoted ₦8,000; in this example she pays nothing to DStv, because her subscription was never the problem.

Where Pryme fits

A signal fault does not stop your subscription clock, so check your due date while you wait for repairs. When it is time to renew, you can pay DStv from the Pryme app: TV subscriptions on Pryme. Our cable TV renewal guide has more on avoiding double payments.

Questions people ask

What does E48-32 mean on DStv?

The decoder has lost the satellite signal. DStv titles it "Weather" because rain and storms are the usual cause.

How do I fix DStv no signal myself?

Wait out heavy rain, check the dish cable is firmly connected to the decoder, restart the decoder at the wall for at least 10 seconds, then check Tuner Status under Help, General Information.

Can I adjust my DStv dish myself?

You can check it for visible damage or tilt from the ground, but re-aiming it needs a signal meter. Use an installer.

Will paying DStv fix E48-32?

No. E48-32 is a signal problem, not an account problem.
