Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Buying land in Kaduna from abroad: KADGIS verification

How a buyer abroad checks a Kaduna title with KADGIS, how a C of O is now issued, what fees to ask for and the traps that cost diaspora buyers most.

The short answer

In Kaduna, land titles are generated, registered and recorded by the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), so a buyer abroad should have a lawyer they appoint search the title at KADGIS before paying anything. KADGIS said in March 2025 that a Certificate of Occupancy can be issued within 24 hours once the grant is accepted, deeds are perfected and all fees are paid, with a higher fee for the accelerated service; fee amounts are not published, so get the assessment in writing from KADGIS.

Buying land in Kaduna while living in London, Houston or Dubai means relying on other people to see what you cannot. Most losses come from paying before the title has been checked independently. This guide explains what KADGIS does, how a title is issued now, what you can and cannot confirm from abroad, and the traps to avoid.

What KADGIS does

KADGIS, the Kaduna Geographic Information Service, is the state agency that handles land titles. According to a statement by its Director-General, Dr Bashir Ibrahim Garba, reported by Blueprint on 8 March 2025, the process for a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) is:

  1. Acceptance of the grant of Right of Occupancy.
  2. Perfection of deeds, where the transaction is an assignment from a previous holder.
  3. Payment of all requisite fees.
  4. The C of O is generated in KADGIS and quality-checked.
  5. It is printed and sent to the governor for execution, then returned to KADGIS within 24 hours for scanning, registration and recording at the Deed Registry.
  6. The Conveyance Unit of Customer Service contacts the owner for collection.

KADGIS said the quality check was added to remove errors common on C of Os issued before 29 May 2023. If you are buying land whose title was issued before then, check the details on the certificate (name, plot number, size, location) carefully against the KADGIS record.

Fees: what is and is not published

KADGIS said an accelerated C of O carries a higher fee but did not publish amounts, and we found no current fee schedule on an official page as at October 2026. Ask KADGIS for a written assessment of every charge, including any ground rent, registration, survey and assignment fees, and pay only into official government accounts against an official receipt. Treat any agent who quotes a lump sum without an assessment with caution.

How to verify from abroad

  1. Appoint your own lawyer in Kaduna, not one introduced by the seller, and give them a written instruction and power of attorney limited to the search and purchase.
  2. Get the documents: copies of the C of O or Right of Occupancy, the survey plan and the seller's identification.
  3. Search at KADGIS: your lawyer confirms the registered owner, the plot details and any encumbrances, such as a mortgage or a caveat.
  4. Inspect the site: ask a trusted person to visit, photograph boundary beacons, speak to neighbours and check for government acquisition markings or road setbacks. A short video call from the site helps.
  5. Agree terms in writing: a deed of assignment or contract stating price, payment stages and what happens if the title fails.
  6. Pay against milestones: to the named owner's account, after the search, not to an agent.

National Identification Number (NIN) rules also apply: the Mandatory Use of NIN Regulations 2017 list land transactions and tenancies among the dealings that require a NIN, so expect to provide yours.

Documents the seller should produce

  • The title document: C of O, Right of Occupancy or a registered deed of assignment from the previous holder.
  • The survey plan showing the plot, with coordinates you can check on the ground.
  • Valid identification for the seller and, for a family or company, proof of authority to sell (family consent document or a board resolution).
  • Receipts for ground rent or other charges already paid.
  • For a property with a building, any building approval.

If the seller cannot produce these, or offers only a 'purchase receipt' and an agreement between private individuals, treat the plot as unverified.

Common traps

  • Plots sold to more than one buyer, or by a family member without the family's consent.
  • Land within a government acquisition, green area or road expansion corridor.
  • Forged or altered C of Os; only the KADGIS record settles which is real.
  • Survey plans that do not match the land on the ground.
  • Being rushed with 'another buyer is ready to pay today'.
  • Paying 'processing fees' to an agent who then disappears.

Worked example (illustrative)

You agree a price of ₦12,000,000 for a plot. A staged plan might be 10 per cent (₦1,200,000) on signing a contract after a clean KADGIS search, 70 per cent (₦8,400,000) on execution of the deed of assignment, and the final 20 per cent (₦2,400,000) once consent and registration are complete. Check: 1,200,000 + 8,400,000 + 2,400,000 = 12,000,000. Lawyer, survey and government fees are on top and should be quoted separately.

Where Pryme fits

A Personal Account opened from any country holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR, so you can keep money in the currency it arrived in and use Swap to convert to Naira when you choose, with the rate shown first. A verifiable receipt from Pryme's partner VerifyDoc.ai gives you proof of each staged payment. See also how to save for land and scams in Kaduna.

Questions people ask

How do I verify a C of O in Kaduna?

Have a lawyer you appoint conduct a search at KADGIS, which generates, registers and records titles in Kaduna. Compare the certificate details with the KADGIS record.

How long does it take to get a C of O in Kaduna?

KADGIS said in March 2025 it can issue a C of O within 24 hours once the grant is accepted, deeds are perfected and fees are paid. Delays usually come from incomplete information.

How much is a C of O in Kaduna?

KADGIS has not published amounts in the material we found; it says the accelerated service costs more. Ask KADGIS for a written assessment.

Can I buy land in Kaduna from abroad?

Yes, through a lawyer you appoint under a limited power of attorney. Insist on a KADGIS search and site visit before paying.
