Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to get a credit report for a business in Nigeria

Commercial credit reports in Nigeria: what they show, which bureau products exist, how to request your company's report and how lenders use it.

The short answer

A Nigerian business gets its credit report by requesting a commercial or corporate report from a licensed credit bureau, such as CRC's corporate self-enquiry or FirstCentral's commercial basic and detailed reports. The report covers the company's credit facilities and repayment record, and lenders often pull the directors' personal records too, since the CBN requires banks to check at least two bureaus before lending.

If your company has ever had an overdraft, a term loan, an asset lease or a supplier account on credit terms, there is probably a record of it at one or more Nigerian credit bureaus. Before you approach a bank for working capital or bid for a contract that asks for evidence of financial standing, it pays to see that record yourself. This guide covers what a business report is, the products bureaus list, how to get one and how lenders read it.

What a commercial credit report is

Credit bureaus hold records for companies as well as individuals. CRC describes itself as having been set up to operate both a consumer and a corporate credit bureau (CRC FAQs, Oct 2026). The data comes from the same kind of providers: banks and other financial institutions, leasing houses, insurers and suppliers selling on deferred or instalment terms, as summaries of the Credit Reporting Act 2017 list them.

A business report generally shows:

  • The company's identifying details, which should match its CAC registration
  • Each credit facility reported against the company: lender, type, limit, outstanding balance and repayment status
  • Enquiries made by lenders and others
  • Security or collateral recorded against facilities
  • Dishonoured cheques and court cases
  • Links to directors, where the bureau holds directorship data

What the bureaus list

BureauBusiness products named on its site (Oct 2026)
CRC Credit BureauCRC Self Enquiry (Corporate), Portfolio Monitoring Review, Batch Processing, Prospecta and Skip Tracing, Credit Advisory and Consulting Service
FirstCentralCommercial Basic Report, Commercial Detailed Report, Directorship Basic and Detailed Reports, Quarterly Portfolio Report, Batch Report, Dud Cheque Report
CreditRegistryWe could not read its business pages when writing; check its site

Neither site we read gave a price for the corporate or commercial report on the page we opened, so check the current fee at checkout. For individuals, CRC listed its consumer self-enquiry at ₦5,000 in October 2026, which gives a sense of scale but is not the business price.

Steps: getting your company's report

  1. Gather your company details: registered name exactly as on the CAC certificate, RC number, registered address and the names of directors.
  2. Go to the bureau's official website and choose the corporate or commercial self-enquiry product.
  3. Expect to prove authority. A company report is about a legal person, so the bureau may ask for evidence that you are a director or authorised officer. Keep a board resolution or letter of authority ready.
  4. Pay and receive the report, then check each facility against your own loan records.
  5. Request the directors' personal reports too. Each director can use their free annual report under the Act.
  6. Dispute anything wrong with the bureau that holds it. The Act requires disputes to be resolved within ten working days, with escalation to the CBN after that.

How lenders use a business report

The CBN's 2013 credit bureau guidelines require banks and other financial institutions to obtain reports from at least two licensed bureaus before granting, reviewing, renewing or restructuring a facility, and to repeat checks for quarterly reviews. They also say a credit decision should not rest solely on bureau data. In practice a lender reads the report alongside your financial statements, bank statements, tax records and the purpose of the loan.

Lenders tend to focus on:

Existing exposure
How much the company already owes across all lenders, which affects how much more it can carry.
Repayment conduct
Whether facilities are performing or past due. See status codes explained.
Directors' records
A director with a defaulted personal loan or a link to a failed company can weigh on a new application.
Cheques and suits
Dishonoured cheques and litigation are read as signs of cash-flow strain.

Larger bank exposures also appear in the CBN's Credit Risk Management System, which CRC's FAQ says requires licensed banks to report credits of ₦1 million and above every month. See credit score, bureau report and CRMS for how the two records differ.

Keeping a clean business record

  • Pay supplier credit on time where the supplier reports; instalment sellers are among the providers the Act allows.
  • Close facilities formally when repaid and ask for a letter of non-indebtedness.
  • Keep the company's registered details consistent across banks so records match.
  • Check the report before every major application, not after a decline.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme Business Account comes with Finance, Compliance and other agents that prepare work for a person to approve, which can help keep records and payment dates in order; see Finance agent and invoicing. A business can also generate verifiable statements with VerifyDoc.ai for a lender to check; see receipts and statements.

Questions people ask

How do I check my company's credit report in Nigeria?

Request a corporate or commercial self-enquiry report from a licensed bureau's website, with your CAC details and evidence that you are authorised to act for the company.

Does a company have its own credit score?

Bureaus hold company credit records and offer commercial reports. Whether a score is included depends on the bureau's product, so check the product description.

Will my personal credit affect my business loan?

Often yes. Lenders commonly review directors' personal records, and bureaus offer directorship reports for that purpose.

What is the CRMS for businesses?

The CBN's Credit Risk Management System records bank credits of ₦1 million and above, which banks report monthly. It is a regulatory system, separate from bureau reports.
