Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

CONPSS explained: federal civil service salary by grade level

How CONPSS grade levels and steps work, what changed after the ₦70,000 minimum wage, and where to find the official salary table.

The short answer

CONPSS, the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure, pays most federal civil servants on grade levels 1 to 17, each with annual steps. It was reviewed upwards after the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, with effect from 29 July 2024, as announced by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission on 24 September 2024. The official figures for each level and step are in the commission's circular, which your ministry's salary unit holds.

What CONPSS is and who it covers

CONPSS is the main pay table for federal civil servants: staff of ministries, departments and agencies who are not on a specialised structure. Doctors, other health workers, lecturers, the armed forces, the police and paramilitary services each have their own structure, such as CONMESS, CONHESS, CONUASS or CONPASS. If your appointment letter names a grade level (GL) without another structure's name, you are almost certainly on CONPSS.

The structure is issued by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC). Federal salaries are paid through IPPIS, the government's integrated payroll, which applies the commission's table to each officer's level and step.

How grade levels and steps work

Grade level (GL)
Your rank in the service, from GL 1 at the bottom to GL 17 at the top of the career civil service. Your entry level depends on your qualification and the post.
Step
A point within a grade level. You move up one step each year on your increment date, until the top step of your level.
Promotion
A move to the next grade level, through the promotion exercise. It usually depends on years on your current level, performance appraisal and, at higher levels, an examination and an available vacancy.
Consolidated salary
The figure on the table already includes some allowances folded in when the structure was created. Other allowances may be paid separately.

The table below shows how the levels are commonly grouped. It describes structure, not pay.

Grade levelsCommonly described asNotes
Lower levelsJunior staffEntry posts for applicants without a degree or diploma, by scheme of service
Middle levelsOfficer gradesGraduate and diploma entry points sit here; the exact level depends on the cadre
Upper levels below GL 15Senior officersPrincipal and chief officer grades in most cadres
GL 15 to 17ManagementDeputy director (GL 15), director (GL 16 and 17)

Exact entry points depend on the scheme of service for your cadre, which your establishment unit can show you. A job advert for a federal post should state the level.

Recruitment into levels GL 07 to 17 follows the Public Service Rules 2021. As reported by Nairametrics in August 2026, Rule 020102(i) requires vacancies at those levels to be advertised in three national newspapers and on the Federal Civil Service Commission's website, with a closing date. The commission has also said it never recruits through agents and that no one should pay for forms or appointment letters.

What changed after the ₦70,000 minimum wage

The National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, signed on 29 July 2024, raised the minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000 a month. A higher floor pushes up the bottom of every pay table, and the levels above are then adjusted to keep the gaps between them. That second step is called the consequential adjustment.

On 20 September 2024 the Federal Government and the trade union side of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council signed a memorandum of understanding on the consequential adjustment. On 24 September 2024, NSIWC chairman Ekpo Nta announced the upward review of CONPSS, effective 29 July 2024. The other federal structures, from CONHESS to CONAFSS, were listed as benefiting too.

The announcement, as reported, did not give new figures by level or step. Many tables that circulate online were made by individuals from partial information, and some still show pre-2024 figures. Treat any table without a circular reference and an effective date as unreliable.

Where to find the official table

  1. Ask your ministry or agency's salary or accounts unit for the current CONPSS circular, its reference number and effective date.
  2. Check your IPPIS payslip for your grade level and step. These are the two numbers you look up in the table.
  3. Ask your union (the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council's trade union side signed the 2024 MoU), which usually circulates the agreed tables to members.
  4. If you are a job applicant, ask the recruiting body for the level of the post, then check the circular figure for step 1 of that level.

Using the table to check your pay

Look up your level and step in the current circular, divide the annual figure by twelve, and compare it with the basic or consolidated line on your payslip. Then check deductions: pension (8% from you, plus 10% from your employer, under PenCom's rules) and PAYE on the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 bands. A missing step increase or a delayed promotion is the most common reason a figure does not match. For specific levels, see grade level 8, grade level 12 and director (GL 16 to 17).

Where Pryme fits

Civil servants often need proof of income for rent, visas or loans. With VerifyDoc.ai verifiable statements, you can share a statement of your salary credits that the receiver can check has not been altered.
