Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

United Kingdom

Companies House ID verification for Nigerian directors

Every new UK company director must now verify their identity. The routes open to a Nigerian director, the deadlines and what happens if you skip it.

The short answer

Since 18 November 2025, every new director of a UK company must verify their identity with Companies House before incorporation or appointment, and existing directors confirm it at their next confirmation statement. A Nigerian director can verify free through GOV.UK One Login or pay an authorised corporate service provider (ACSP) to do it, and receives a personal code to give for each role.

Identity verification has changed the way UK companies are formed and run. A director who used to be named on a form now has to prove who they are, once, and then quote a personal code. For Nigerian directors, many of whom live in Nigeria or hold Nigerian passports in the UK, the practical questions are which route works and what the deadlines are.

Who has to verify, and by when

Companies House set out the rollout in a press release of 5 August 2025:

WhoWhen
New directorsFrom 18 November 2025, before incorporating a company or being appointed to one
Existing directorsA 12-month transition period; confirm verification at the company's next confirmation statement
Existing people with significant control (PSCs)Within 12 months of the requirement starting
New PSCsWithin 14 days of registering
Corporate directors, LLP corporate members, officers of corporate PSCsLater; the release says their requirements start afterwards

Companies House says acting as a director without being verified, once the duty applies, is an offence, and that it will take a proportionate approach to enforcement. If you are a director of more than one company, you verify once and use the same personal code for each role.

The three routes

GOV.UK One Login

This is the free route. You verify online through an app or a browser, and afterwards find your personal code by signing in to Companies House and opening 'Manage account', using the same email address you verified with. Companies House says people who verified after 8 July 2026 also had the code emailed to them.

At a Post Office, with One Login

Companies House describes an in-person route at a Post Office for people with lower digital confidence who hold acceptable photo ID. It starts and ends online, and the result usually arrives by email within one day. It only helps if you are in the UK.

Through an authorised agent (ACSP)

An ACSP is a firm registered with Companies House, often a formation agent or accountant, that can check your identity and give you a personal code by email. Companies House does not set ACSP charges; the agent quotes its own fee.

Which route suits a Nigerian director

Living in the UK with a Nigerian passport
Try One Login first. The Companies House pages we opened do not list which identity documents One Login accepts, so check during the process whether your passport and any UK document will work.
Living in Nigeria
The Post Office route is out of reach. Try One Login online; if it cannot verify you, use an ACSP that accepts clients outside the UK.
Name differs across documents
Fix that before you start, because a mismatch between your passport, any UK records and the company filing is the commonest cause of delay. See matching your NIN and passport.

If you are already a director

Directors appointed before 18 November 2025 do not have to verify on the first day, but they cannot ignore it. Companies House's personal codes guidance says a current director gives the code in the company's next confirmation statement filing made from 18 November 2025. In practice:

  1. Look up the company's next confirmation statement date on the Companies House register.
  2. Verify well before that date, so that a failed check does not leave you filing late.
  3. Give your personal code, and those of any other directors, when the statement is filed.
  4. Check that each PSC has verified too: existing PSCs had 12 months from the start of the requirement.

Example: a director in Abuja whose company's confirmation statement falls due in March would verify by One Login or an ACSP in January or February, collect the code, and pass it to whoever files the statement. If an accountant files for the company, the director still verifies personally; the accountant cannot do it on their behalf unless it is an ACSP carrying out the check.

Steps for a new company

  1. Each proposed director and PSC verifies first and collects a personal code.
  2. Gather the codes before starting the registration; GOV.UK's registration guide says each director's code is needed where there is more than one.
  3. Register the company online for £100, as at October 2026, or through an agent.
  4. Diary the first confirmation statement; see confirmation statement deadlines.
  5. Keep a record of who verified, when and by which route.

PSCs have their own verification duty. The Nigeria library's guide to people with significant control in a UK small company explains who counts as one. For the wider formation process from abroad, see registering a UK company while living in Nigeria.

Where Pryme fits

Verification is one of many recurring filings a small company has to track. A Pryme Business Account comes with a Compliance agent that prepares reminders and paperwork for a person to approve, with actions recorded. Outside Nigeria, Pryme's activities are carried out through regulated partners.

Questions people ask

Do I need to verify my identity to be a UK company director?

Yes. Since 18 November 2025, new directors must verify before incorporation or appointment, and existing directors confirm it at their next confirmation statement.

Is Companies House identity verification free?

Verifying through GOV.UK One Login is free, Companies House says. An authorised agent charges its own fee.

Can I verify my Companies House identity from Nigeria?

One Login works online and an ACSP can verify you remotely if it accepts overseas clients. The Post Office route needs you in the UK.

Where do I find my Companies House personal code?

Sign in to Companies House and open 'Manage account' with the email you verified with. If an ACSP verified you, the code goes to the email it gave.
