Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

Closing your Pryme account with a Loan on Spaces outstanding

You must repay any Loan on Spaces to Solid Allianze MFB before closing your Pryme account. The order of steps, and what happens to Boxes and balances.

The short answer

You need to settle any outstanding Loan on Spaces with Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank, the lender, before your Pryme account can be closed. Closing an account never cancels a debt: repay the balance shown in the app, let any fixed-term Savings Boxes reach maturity or plan around them, move your remaining money out, download your statements, and then ask support to close the account.

People leave financial apps for all sorts of reasons: moving abroad, consolidating accounts, or simply wanting fewer apps on their phone. If you have a Loan on Spaces running, there is a set order to follow. Getting it right avoids a closed account with a debt still attached to your name, which is the worst of both outcomes.

Why the loan comes first

Across Nigerian banking, an account that has an outstanding loan attached to it is generally not closed until the loan is repaid or a repayment arrangement is agreed. The reason is simple: the account is where the lender expects repayment to come from, and the debt exists whether or not the account does.

With Loans on Spaces, the lender is Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank, licensed by the CBN. Pryme is the technology company through which you see and repay the loan. Closing the Pryme account does not end your agreement with Solid Allianze, so the loan has to be settled first.

Steps to close cleanly

  1. Check what you owe. Open the loan in the app and note the balance and repayment date shown.
  2. Repay in full. You can repay before the due date; repaying early explains how and what the agreement says about cost.
  3. Confirm the loan shows as repaid. Keep a receipt. You can generate a regular or a verifiable receipt or statement through VerifyDoc.ai, which anyone you show it to can check is genuine and unaltered.
  4. Deal with Savings Boxes. Flexible Box money can be moved out. Investment Box money is held to maturity, and a Fixed Box has its own terms shown in the app, so note any maturity dates and plan around them.
  5. Empty foreign-currency balances. USD, GBP or EUR balances stay in their currency until you choose to Swap them or send them to another account.
  6. Move the remaining naira to your other bank account with Send.
  7. Download statements you may need later for tax, visa or rent applications.
  8. Ask support to close the account through contact.

If you cannot repay the full balance yet

Closing is not possible while the loan is outstanding, but you are not stuck. Contact support before the repayment date, explain your position and ask what options exist. A borrower who makes contact early is usually in a far better position than one who goes quiet, and it keeps the conversation inside the agreement you accepted rather than in collections.

If you are leaving Nigeria, remember that a debt does not stay behind at the border. Repaying before you travel is cheaper and simpler than trying to arrange payments from abroad later, and it leaves your bureau record clean if you return and apply for credit.

Worked example

Example only. Bisi is relocating and wants to close her account on 30 June. She has a Loan on Spaces with ₦45,000 to repay on 15 July, ₦120,000 in her naira balance, and ₦200,000 in an Investment Box maturing on 10 August.

StepEffect (example)
Repay the loan on 30 June from her balance₦120,000 − ₦45,000 = ₦75,000 left
Send ₦75,000 to her other bank accountNaira balance ₦0
Investment BoxHeld to maturity on 10 August; she keeps the account open until then
After 10 AugustMoves the Box proceeds out and asks support to close the account

The order matters: if she had moved all ₦120,000 out first, she would have needed to bring money back to repay.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Deleting the app before the loan is repaid. Uninstalling removes nothing from your record; it only makes it harder to see the repayment date.
  • Moving all your money out first. Repay from the balance, then move what is left.
  • Forgetting direct payments into the account. Tell your employer, clients or family to stop paying into it before you close, or money may arrive after closure and need to be traced.
  • Leaving statements behind. Once closed, getting old statements is slower; download what you need now.
  • Ignoring small foreign-currency balances. Swap or send them out so nothing is stranded.

Your deposits while you wind down

Naira deposits are held by Solid Allianze MFB and insured by the NDIC up to the applicable limit. In March 2026 the NDIC's managing director was reported as stating cover of ₦2 million per depositor for microfinance banks; check the NDIC for the current limit. Do not read this as covering every product; it relates to deposits.

Where Pryme fits

Personal and Business accounts can be opened from any country, and one account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR. If you are moving abroad, consider whether keeping the multicurrency account open is more useful than closing it; if you do close, follow the steps above in order.

Questions people ask

Can I close my Pryme account if I have a Loan on Spaces?

Not while the loan is outstanding. Repay it to Solid Allianze MFB first, then ask support to close the account.

Does closing my account cancel my loan?

No. The loan is an agreement with Solid Allianze MFB and remains owed whether or not the account is open.

What happens to my Savings Boxes when I close my account?

Flexible Box money can be moved out. Investment Box money is held to maturity, and Fixed Box terms are shown in the app. Plan to close after any maturity date, or ask support.

How do I prove I repaid my Loan on Spaces?

Keep a receipt or statement. You can generate a verifiable one through VerifyDoc.ai, which anyone can check is genuine and unaltered.
