Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Checking a Canadian immigration consultant is licensed

How to confirm a Canadian immigration consultant is a licensed RCIC on the CICC public register, and what each status and class means.

The short answer

A paid Canadian immigration consultant must hold a licence from the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) and appear on its public register with "Entitled to Practise: Yes". The licensed title is Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC). If you pay anyone who is not authorised, IRCC says it may return or refuse your application.

Many Nigerians planning a move to Canada pay someone to help with a study permit, a work permit or Express Entry. Some of those helpers are licensed professionals. Others are agents with a nice office in Lekki or Wuse and no licence at all. Canada's rules on who may charge you are clear, and the check takes about five minutes.

Who is allowed to charge you for Canadian immigration help

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) says that if you give a representative money, "or compensate them in any other way", that person counts as a paid representative and must be authorised, which it describes as having "a license to practice and give advice" (IRCC, modified 18 August 2026). IRCC's March 2025 fraud statement adds that only authorised representatives, meaning licensed immigration consultants, lawyers or notaries, can legally charge fees for immigration services.

For consultants, the licensing body is the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. Its page states that giving immigration advice for a fee without a licence is an offence. Lawyers are licensed by their provincial or territorial law society instead, so a lawyer will not be on the CICC register; IRCC's reporting page sends complaints about lawyers and paralegals to the law society.

How to search the CICC public register

  1. Ask the consultant for their full name as licensed and their licence number. A real RCIC expects the question.
  2. Open the CICC page "Find an Immigration Consultant" and follow the link to the Public Register.
  3. Search the name. Compare spelling, firm and location with what you were told.
  4. Read three columns: Type (the licence class), Status and Entitled to Practise. Only "Yes" in the last column means the person can legally provide immigration advice or services.
  5. If the person is not listed, the CICC suggests checking the Government of Canada's list of authorised representatives, since they may be a lawyer or notary instead.

What the classes and statuses mean

The CICC page (last modified 20 June 2025) explains the codes you will see:

Code or statusWhat it meansCan they act for you?
L1 (RCIC)New licensee still in the first-year mentoring programme; same scope as L2Yes
L2 (RCIC)Full scope; cannot appear before the Immigration and Refugee Board unless also an Ontario paralegalYes
L3 (RCIC-IRB)L2 scope plus representation before the IRBYes
L4 / L5 (RISIA)International student immigration adviserYes, within that scope
ActiveIn good standingYes
Active – Practice RestrictedRestricted by an interim order or discipline finding; the restriction is shownOnly within the restriction
Leave of Absence, ResignedNot practisingNo
Administrative or Disciplinary Suspension/RevocationLicence suspended or withdrawnNo

A consultant who shows you a licence certificate but whose register entry reads "No" cannot lawfully take your money for immigration work, whatever the certificate says.

Agents who hide behind a licensed name

A common pattern in Nigeria is the agent who says, "My partner in Toronto is licensed." Check who will actually sign and submit your forms. IRCC's own warning is blunt: if you use an unauthorised paid representative, it "may return your application or refuse it". Some warning signs to watch for:

  • The person collecting your money is not the person on the register, and nobody can show you a written agreement with the licensed consultant.
  • You are told not to contact IRCC yourself, or you are not given your own account login.
  • The fee is quoted as a package that "includes the visa". No consultant can sell an outcome; IRCC decides.
  • You are asked to pay into a personal account with no invoice. Ask for a receipt from the firm every time.

IRCC also notes that all application forms and information are free on its website, so paying for "forms" is a red flag. For the wider picture of agents in Nigeria, see our guide to vetting a travel or visa agent.

If something has gone wrong

IRCC's reporting page (modified 11 May 2026) lists the channels:

  • Complaints about a consultant go through the CICC complaints process, whether or not you have an application with IRCC.
  • If you do have an application, report the representative to IRCC with as much detail and supporting documents as you can.
  • From outside Canada, IRCC points to the Canada Border Services Agency Border Watch Line, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and your local police.
  • Lawyers and paralegals are reported to their provincial or territorial law society.

In Nigeria you can also follow our steps on reporting a visa scam. Keep every message, receipt and transfer record.

Where Pryme fits

Paying a licensed consultant from Nigeria is easier to track when the money and the paperwork line up. A Pryme Personal Account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR, and with our partner VerifyDoc.ai you can generate a verifiable receipt or statement that anyone can check is genuine and unaltered, which helps if you ever need to show what you paid and to whom. You can open an account from any country.

What to check first

  1. Name and licence number, checked on the CICC Public Register.
  2. "Entitled to Practise: Yes" and no restriction that covers your case.
  3. A written agreement with that licensed person or firm, not only with the local agent.
  4. An invoice and receipt for every payment.

Questions people ask

How do I know if an immigration consultant in Canada is real?

Search their name on the CICC Public Register and confirm the entry says Entitled to Practise: Yes. Lawyers will not appear there; they are licensed by a provincial law society.

What does RCIC mean?

Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, the licensed title for consultants regulated by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants. Classes L1, L2 and L3 are all RCICs.

Can a Nigerian travel agent charge me for a Canadian visa application?

IRCC says anyone you pay or compensate for immigration help must be authorised. An unlicensed agent who charges you is not authorised, and IRCC may return or refuse an application tied to them.

Where do I report a fake Canadian immigration consultant from Nigeria?

Use the CICC complaints process for consultants, IRCC's web form if you have an application, and from outside Canada the CBSA Border Watch Line, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and local police.
