Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Certified copy of a Nigerian marriage certificate from abroad

How to get a certified true copy of a Nigerian marriage certificate while abroad: the e-Citibiz request, which registry, who can collect, and next steps.

The short answer

For a statutory marriage, apply for a certified true copy (CTC) through the Ministry of Interior's e-Citibiz portal, under its marriage menu. The FAQ says a lost certificate is not reissued; instead the registry where you married issues a CTC. Fees are non-refundable and shown on the portal. Once you have the CTC, authenticate it at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs if it is for use abroad.

Marriage certificates go missing: lost in a move, damaged, or kept by a relative back home. Abroad, you may need one quickly for a spouse visa, a passport name change or a pension. Nigeria does not issue a second original. What you can get is a certified true copy, and for statutory marriages much of the request can now start online.

What the Ministry of Interior says

The e-Citibiz FAQ, read in October 2026, sets out the position for marriages under the Marriage Act:

  • Only marriages at Federal Marriage Registries or licensed places of worship are recognised.
  • If a certificate is lost, a new one is not issued; you obtain a certified true copy from the registry where the marriage was conducted.
  • The CTC request is made on the portal, under the marriage menu.
  • The ministry provides a verification facility that third-party agencies can use.
  • Fees are non-refundable; the FAQ does not list amounts.
  • Contacts: Info@ecitibiz.interior.gov.ng and +234 908 589 9991 or 9992.

The registries named in the FAQ are Lagos, Abuja, Benin City, Owerri, Port Harcourt and Kano.

Why a CTC carries weight

Under section 104 of the Evidence Act 2011, as quoted by the Court of Appeal in Abubakar v Dahiru (2020), a public officer with custody of a public document gives a copy on payment of the prescribed fee, with a certificate at the foot that it is a true copy, dated and signed with name and title, and sealed where authorised. The court described an uncertified copy of a public document as worthless for proof. Foreign authorities think similarly: they want the issuing body's own certification, not a photocopy notarised abroad.

Steps from abroad

  1. Find your marriage details: date, registry or place of worship, both names as written, and the certificate number if you have a scan.
  2. Create an account on e-Citibiz and open the marriage menu's CTC request.
  3. Upload what the portal asks for and pay the fee shown. Screenshot the amount and keep the receipt.
  4. Arrange collection. If the portal does not offer delivery abroad, nominate a relative or lawyer in Nigeria and ask the registry what authority letter and ID it needs from them.
  5. For use abroad, have the CTC authenticated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, then legalised for your country; see getting a Nigerian marriage recognised abroad.

Customary and court documents

A customary marriage registered with a local government is not on the federal system. Ask the local government that issued the registration certificate for a certified copy; see customary marriage certificates from an LGA. Court documents, such as a decree absolute, come from the court registry; see certified true copies of court documents.

Worked example

Example only: Temitope and her husband married at the Ikoyi registry in 2015. Living in Canberra, she needs the certificate for an Australian partner visa, but the original was lost in a flood. She applies for a CTC on e-Citibiz, pays the fee shown, and authorises her brother in Lagos to collect it. He takes the CTC to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja for authentication and couriers it to her.

Avoid these traps

  • Agents who promise a "new original": the ministry says it does not issue one.
  • Name spellings that differ from your passport: get an affidavit ready before the foreign authority asks.
  • Sending the only CTC abroad before authentication: authenticate in Abuja first while it is still in Nigeria.

When verification may be enough

Sometimes you do not need a new copy at all. The e-Citibiz FAQ says the ministry offers a verification facility for third-party agencies. If a foreign authority or employer only needs to confirm that your marriage is on record, ask whether they can use that facility instead of waiting for a CTC to be couriered abroad. Some embassies insist on it: the Belgian Embassy in Abuja asks for Ministry of Interior confirmation of marriage certificates not issued by a Federal registry. Ask the foreign authority which it wants, a CTC, a confirmation, or both, before you start.

What the collecting relative should carry

  • A signed letter from you authorising them to collect, naming them and the marriage.
  • A copy of your passport data page and, if possible, your spouse's.
  • Their own valid ID.
  • The portal payment receipt and request reference.

Where Pryme fits

Portal fees and a relative's travel to the registry and Abuja are naira costs. With a Pryme Personal Account you can hold naira and send it to the person helping you; the app shows the rate and the fee before you approve.

Questions people ask

How do I get a copy of my Nigerian marriage certificate from abroad?

Request a certified true copy on the Ministry of Interior's e-Citibiz portal under the marriage menu, pay the fee shown, and arrange collection from the registry where you married.

Can I get a new marriage certificate in Nigeria if I lost mine?

No. The e-Citibiz FAQ says a lost certificate is replaced by a certified true copy from the registry, not a new original.

How much is a CTC of a marriage certificate in Nigeria?

The FAQ says fees are non-refundable but does not list amounts. The portal shows the fee before payment.

Can someone collect my marriage certificate copy for me?

Ask the registry what authority letter and ID it requires. A relative or lawyer commonly collects.
