Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to buy treasury bills through GTBank

GTBank Nigeria publishes no retail T-bill page we could find. How to subscribe through your account officer or GTConnect, what to ask and when.

The short answer

Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) Nigeria does not publish a retail treasury bills page, minimum or form on the pages we checked in October 2026, so you subscribe through your account officer or GTConnect (+234 201 448 0000). Ask for the current minimum, rate and cut-off, give a signed instruction authorising the debit, and fund the account before the bank's deadline; primary auctions usually hold every other Wednesday.

What GTBank publishes, and what it does not

Searching for "GTBank treasury bills" brings up pages for GTBank Ghana, which describe Ghana's T-bills and do not apply to Nigeria. On GTBank Nigeria's own site, we did not find a page setting out a retail T-bill minimum, an application form or an app menu for buying bills when we checked in October 2026. That leaves the bank's people as the source of truth: your account officer, your branch, or GTConnect, the contact centre.

GTBank's contact page lists GTConnect on +234 201 448 0000, 0700-482666328, +234 802 900 2900, +234 803 900 3900 and +234 813 985 6000. Because the terms are not published, write down what you are told, or ask for it by email, before you fund anything.

How a bank T-bill subscription works

Whichever bank you use, the bills themselves are the same: Federal Government treasury bills issued by the CBN, in 91, 182 and 364-day tenors, bought at a discount and repaid at face value. What differs is how the bank handles your order. Nairametrics, describing bank bids in 2018, set out three routes:

RouteHow it worksWho it suits
Direct auction bidYou bid at the CBN auction through the bank, stating amount, tenor and bid rateLarge investors; FirstBank's and Stanbic IBTC's pages put the minimum at ₦50,001,000
Pooled bidThe bank combines smaller orders into one bidSmaller savers; some banks set pooling minimums, which Nairametrics said could be as high as ₦1 million in 2018
Secondary or rediscounted billThe bank sells you a bill it already holds or has bought backAnyone, any working day; Nairametrics said the rate may be slightly lower

Parthian Partners, an SEC-regulated dealer, said in June 2026 that some banks sell T-bills from ₦100,000. That is a market-wide observation, not a GTBank figure. Ask GTBank which of the three routes your order would take, because it changes both the rate and the timing. Our guide to the minimum amount for T-bills in Nigeria compares the published minimums.

Steps to subscribe through GTBank

  1. Contact your account officer or GTConnect and ask for the treasury or investment desk.
  2. Ask: the current minimum, today's rates by tenor, whether the order is primary or secondary, all charges, and the cut-off for the next auction.
  3. Write a signed instruction: full name, account number, face value or amount, tenor, and authority to debit your account. Ask whether the bank has its own form instead.
  4. Fund the account with at least the discounted price before the cut-off.
  5. Get a written confirmation showing face value, rate, value date and maturity date, and keep it.

If the bank asks you to sign a custody or safekeeping authority, read it: it lets the bank hold the bills on your behalf, and you should know what, if anything, it charges for that. Our guide to filling a T-bill subscription form explains the usual fields.

Timing: auction weeks and cut-offs

Primary auctions usually hold every two weeks on Wednesdays unless the CBN advises otherwise, according to Stanbic IBTC's T-bill FAQ. Banks collect customer bids before the auction, so GTBank's internal deadline will be earlier than the auction itself. Ask for it and fund the account a day ahead if you can. If you miss an auction, a secondary-market bill can be bought on most working days. Our explainer on how auctions work covers bids and stop rates.

Worked example: a ₦200,000 bill for 364 days

Example only, with an assumed discount rate of 15% a year and a 365-day year. Use the rate GTBank quotes on the day.

ItemAmount
Face value at maturity₦200,000.00
Discount: 200,000 × 15% × 364 ÷ 365₦29,917.81
Price debited₦170,082.19
Annualised return on the price paidabout 17.64%

Any charges the bank applies come off the ₦29,917.81. On a bill this size, a fixed fee of a few hundred naira matters more than it would on a ₦5 million bill, so ask for the total cost up front.

At maturity, or if you need the money sooner

Tell GTBank in writing what should happen at maturity: pay the face value into your account, or roll it into a new bill at the rate then on offer. If you give no instruction, ask what the bank does by default. If you need the cash before maturity, Parthian Partners notes that T-bills can be sold before maturity on the over-the-counter market; the price you get depends on rates that day, so you may receive more or less than you expected. Ask GTBank whether it will buy the bill back and how it prices that.

If your amount is small

If GTBank's minimum turns out to be above what you want to invest, you are not shut out of T-bills. Parthian Partners says its i-invest app sells T-bills from ₦10,000, and some fund managers run money-market funds that hold T-bills. Our guide to T-bills under ₦100,000 compares those routes.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not sell treasury bills. You can send naira from Pryme to your GTBank account before the cut-off, and for money you keep in the app, Savings Boxes show their rates before you commit.

Questions people ask

What is the minimum for GTBank treasury bills?

GTBank Nigeria does not publish one on the pages we checked. Ask your account officer or GTConnect for the current minimum.

Can I buy treasury bills on the GTBank app (GTWorld)?

We found no GTBank Nigeria page describing a T-bills menu in the app. Ask GTConnect whether it is available on your account.

How do I subscribe to treasury bills in GTBank?

Contact your account officer or GTConnect, confirm the minimum, rate and cut-off, give a signed debit instruction and fund the account before the deadline.

When is the next treasury bill auction?

Auctions usually hold every two weeks on Wednesdays unless the CBN advises otherwise. Check the CBN's published calendar and ask GTBank for its internal cut-off.
