Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Buying treasury bills with less than ₦100,000

Bank minimums often start at ₦100,000. The app, savings bond and money market fund routes for smaller sums, and what each costs you in control.

The short answer

Many banks start treasury bills at ₦100,000, but smaller routes exist: Parthian Partners says its i-invest app offers bills from ₦10,000, money market funds such as ARM's and Stanbic IBTC's invest in bills from a few thousand naira, and the FGN Savings Bond starts at ₦5,000. Each gives up something: a direct holding, a fixed rate, or quick access.

Why small amounts are hard

Treasury bill auctions are wholesale. The CBN sells bills for the Debt Management Office in very large amounts; a single weekly offer in October 2026 was ₦450 billion, according to Nairametrics. Banks and dealers split these into retail pieces, and set a minimum that makes the paperwork worthwhile. Parthian Partners says on its treasury bills page that some banks start from ₦100,000.

The routes for less than ₦100,000

RouteMinimum statedWhat you holdSource
Investment app selling billsFrom ₦10,000 (i-invest)A share of a bill held for youParthian Partners page
Money market fund₦1,000 (ARM factsheet Sept 2025); ₦5,000 (Stanbic IBTC fund page)Units in a fund that holds bills and other money market assetsFund documents
FGN Savings Bond₦5,000, then ₦1,000 multiplesA 2 or 3-year Federal Government bondDMO offer notice

ARM's own FAQ gives a ₦5,000 initial minimum for the same fund, which differs from its September 2025 factsheet; check the current figure when you invest.

Investment apps

i-invest was developed by Parthian Partners, which describes itself as licensed and regulated by the SEC and FMDQ. TechCabal reported in 2021 that sign-up needs phone, email, name and BVN. Before using any app, check its operator on the SEC's Find a Registered Operator directory and confirm how your bill is recorded in your name. Read the app's fee terms; a fee that is small on ₦1 million can be large on ₦20,000.

Money market funds

A fund pools many small investors and buys bills and similar instruments. You get a return that moves with the fund's holdings, not a fixed discount. Terms to note from the documents we checked:

  • ARM Money Market Fund (factsheet Sept 2025): management fee 1.5% of net asset value, 90-day minimum holding period, benchmarked to the average 91-day T-bill auction stop rate.
  • Stanbic IBTC Money Market Fund (fund page): management fee 1.5% a year, 20% of accrued income charged if you redeem within the 30-day minimum holding period, online redemption paid within two working days.

FGN Savings Bond

Not a treasury bill, but the smallest direct Federal Government security. The October 2026 offer paid 13.071% on the 2-year and 14.071% on the 3-year bond, quarterly, per Nairametrics. Your money is committed for years, though the bond is listed on the NGX. See savings bond vs treasury bills for small savers.

What you give up

  • Direct ownership: a fund gives you units, not a bill. Your return depends on the manager.
  • A known return: a bill's discount is fixed at purchase; a fund's yield moves.
  • Quick access: holding periods and early-redemption charges apply to funds; a savings bond runs for years.
  • Low cost: fees take a bigger share of small sums.

Worked example: ₦50,000 three ways (illustrative)

Example rates, not current: a 364-day bill at a 15% discount, if available at ₦50,000 face, would cost ₦42,520.55 and pay ₦50,000, a gain of ₦7,479.45. A money market fund yielding an illustrative 15% a year after fees would earn about ₦7,500 on ₦50,000 over a year, but that yield could rise or fall. The 2-year savings bond at the October 2026 coupon would pay ₦50,000 × 13.071% ÷ 4 = about ₦1,633.88 each quarter.

Watch out for fake T-bill offers

Small savers are the main target of schemes that borrow the name "treasury bills" to sound safe. Real bills come from the CBN auction, carry a rate close to the published stop rate and are recorded in your name through a bank, dealer or registered app. Be wary of anyone promising a monthly return well above recent auction results, asking you to pay a personal account, or describing a "T-bill club" where members' money is pooled informally. The SEC's website lists known investment scams and registered operators; check both before you pay.

A useful test is to ask which auction date your bill came from and what its maturity date is. A genuine provider can answer immediately and show it on a statement.

What to check first

  1. Is the provider on the SEC register?
  2. What is the minimum and every fee?
  3. Can you see the bill or units in your name?
  4. How fast can you get your money out, and at what cost?

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not sell treasury bills. While you build up to a bank's minimum, a Fixed or Flexible Savings Box can hold the money in naira with Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank; the rate is shown in the app. See also how to buy treasury bills.

Questions people ask

Can I buy treasury bills with ₦10,000?

Parthian Partners says its i-invest app offers treasury bills from ₦10,000. Many banks set higher minimums; Parthian notes some start from ₦100,000.

What is the minimum amount for treasury bills in Nigeria?

It depends on the channel. Banks often set ₦100,000 or more; some apps and money market funds accept far less.

Is money market fund the same as treasury bills?

No. A money market fund holds bills and other short-term instruments; you own units in the fund, and its return varies.

Which is better for small savers, T-bills or savings bond?

A savings bond starts at ₦5,000 and pays quarterly for 2 or 3 years; a bill is shorter. Choose by when you need the money.
