Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

How to close or delete a Branch account

The order to close a Branch account in Nigeria: clear the loan, empty the wallet, stop the card, then request closure and data deletion in writing.

The short answer

Branch does not show a self-service close button on its public pages, so you close the account by request: repay any loan, move your wallet balance out, stop any Branch card, then ask support to close the account and email dpo@branch.co to have your personal data deleted, as Branch's privacy policy describes. Deleting the app does not close the account.

Before you start: what closing does and does not do

Branch in Nigeria is more than a loan app now. Its homepage (October 2026) describes a wallet for sending and receiving money, bill payments, saving and investing, and a Branch debit card launched in Nigeria. Closing therefore has several parts, and each one should be finished before you ask for the account to be shut.

  • Uninstalling the app removes it from your phone. Your account, any loan and any balance remain.
  • Closing the account ends the relationship. It needs a request to Branch and should leave you with a nil balance and no debt.
  • Deleting your data is a separate request under data protection law; Branch's privacy policy says you can make it by contacting dpo@branch.co.
  • Your credit history does not disappear. Lenders registered under the FCCPC's 2025 regulations must supply data to credit bureaus where required, so a repaid or unpaid Branch loan can still appear on your report.

Step by step

  1. Check for any loan. Open the loan section and confirm the balance is zero. If a repayment is in progress, wait until it shows as completed, then screenshot the zero balance.
  2. Empty the wallet. Transfer any wallet balance to a bank account in your name. Keep the receipt.
  3. Stop the card. If you have a Branch debit card, use any remaining balance, then ask support to cancel it. Cut it up once cancellation is confirmed.
  4. Cancel savings or investments. Withdraw anything held in a savings or investment product first, noting any maturity date that applies.
  5. Remove saved cards from other banks that Branch uses for repayment, so nothing can be charged later.
  6. Request closure. Use the in-app support route and say clearly: "Please close my Branch account and confirm in writing." Branch's contact page lists a Lagos office email, which decodes to nigeria@branch.co; we could not see it in plain text, so check it in the app before relying on it.
  7. Request data deletion. Email dpo@branch.co from the address on your account, giving your registered phone number and asking for your personal data to be deleted, except what the law requires them to keep.
  8. Keep the paper trail. Save the closure confirmation, the zero-loan screenshot and the transfer receipts together.

Template message

"Hello, I am [full name], registered on Branch with [phone number]. My loan balance is zero (screenshot attached) and I have moved my wallet balance out. Please close my account, cancel any card linked to it, and confirm the closure in writing. I am separately asking dpo@branch.co to delete my personal data. Thank you."

What if Branch says you still owe money?

Ask for a statement of the loan showing every disbursement, fee and repayment. The FCCPC's Digital, Electronic, Online or Non-Traditional Consumer Lending Regulations 2025 entitle a borrower to a statement of use within 24 hours of asking. Check it against your own receipts.

Worked example (illustrative figures)

You borrowed ₦30,000 and the agreement said ₦36,000 was due on the repayment date. You paid ₦20,000 and then ₦16,000 two weeks apart. Total paid is ₦36,000, so the balance should be zero unless a late fee applied between the two payments. If the app shows ₦600 outstanding, ask which fee that is and under which clause of your agreement, before you pay it to close the account.

Common snags when closing

  • A repayment that has not settled. If you repaid by bank transfer late in the day, the loan may still show as open the next morning. Wait for the app to show it as repaid before asking for closure, or attach the bank receipt with the reference.
  • A card still linked for repayment. If your card at another bank is saved for automatic repayment, ask Branch to remove it and check your bank app's list of saved merchants or card tokens as well.
  • A small leftover balance. A few naira left in the wallet can hold a closure up. Transfer it out, even if the amount seems trivial, or ask support how they want it handled.
  • Several accounts. If you once registered with a second phone number, that account is separate. List both numbers in your request.
  • No reply. Send one follow-up after 48 hours, quoting your first message and its date, then escalate.

Keep the records for at least as long as any credit report entry could matter to you. If a lender or employer later queries an old Branch loan, a dated closure confirmation and a zero-balance screenshot settle it quickly.

If closure or deletion is ignored

The 2025 regulations require lenders to resolve complaints within 24 hours and never beyond 48 hours. If Branch does not respond, complain to the FCCPC at lenderstaskforce@fccpc.gov.ng or through complaints.fccpc.gov.ng, attaching your request and the date you sent it. The FCCPC resumed enforcing the regulations on 20 July 2026 after a court ruling. For contacts, see our Branch customer care guide; for the earlier walk-through, Branch customer care and account deletion.

Where Pryme fits

If you are moving your everyday money elsewhere, a Pryme Personal Account can be opened in the app, with naira held by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank. You can also generate a statement or a verifiable receipt with VerifyDoc.ai before you leave any provider, which helps if a balance dispute comes up later.

Questions people ask

How do I delete my Branch account permanently?

Clear any loan and wallet balance, ask support in the app to close the account, then email dpo@branch.co asking for your personal data to be deleted, as Branch's privacy policy describes.

Will uninstalling Branch app close my account?

No. The account, any loan and any balance remain. You must ask Branch to close it.

Can I close Branch account with unpaid loan?

Expect Branch to refuse until the loan is cleared, and an unpaid loan can still be reported to credit bureaus. Ask for a loan statement if you dispute the balance.

Will closing Branch remove me from the credit bureau?

No. Credit history is kept by the bureaus, and lenders under the FCCPC's 2025 regulations must supply data where required.
