Ten years, one trunk

2018OjirehPrime Card

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Spain

Can I use Bizum to send money to Nigeria?

No. Bizum works through Spanish banks' apps, and its international option reaches only Portugal and Italy. What to use for Nigeria instead.

The short answer

No. Bizum is a mobile payment service run through Spanish banks' apps, and its international page, checked in October 2026, lists only sending to and receiving from contacts in Portugal and Italy, through the EuroPA link with MB WAY and Bancomat Pay. Nigeria is not included. To pay Nigeria from Spain, use a remittance service or an international SWIFT transfer from your bank.

What Bizum is

Bizum is the instant phone-number payment service built into most Spanish banks' apps. Its own site says you send money "solo con tu móvil" whatever your bank, that it is backed by the main Spanish banks, and that you activate it inside your bank's app. Payments go to the mobile number of another Bizum user and arrive in seconds. It is ideal for splitting a bill in Madrid; it is not a remittance service.

Its international option, and why Nigeria is not on it

Bizum's international page says you can send money to and receive money from contacts in Portugal and Italy. It works through EuroPA, which it describes as a collaboration between international payment solutions, linking Bizum with MB WAY in Portugal and Bancomat Pay in Italy. The page also shows the Iris Payments logo. Nigeria, and every other country outside that link, is not mentioned.

So there is no Bizum route to a Nigerian bank account, a Nigerian wallet or a Nigerian phone number. If someone tells you to "Bizum" money for Nigeria, what actually happens is that you pay a person in Spain, who then sends it on by some other means. That is risky: you have no receipt from a licensed provider for the Nigerian leg, and no one to complain to if it fails.

What to use instead

What you wantUseNotes
Pay from your phone, quicklyA remittance appCard or bank payment in Spain; naira to a bank account, wallet or cash pickup
Pay cash in personAn agent or locutorioShow ID; get a receipt with a tracking number
Send euros to a domiciliary accountAn international SWIFT transfer from your bankNeeds the bank's SWIFT code; BBVA lists €6 to €28 commissions
Pay a family member in Spain who will send it onAvoidNo protection on the onward leg

If what you like about Bizum is the speed, some remittance services come close for Nigeria. Ria's Spain page says card-funded transfers reach the recipient within minutes, and Western Union's says cash pickup and mobile wallet payouts arrive in minutes. The difference is that these are licensed money transfer services, they must identify you under Spanish anti-money-laundering rules, and they give you a reference number you can track and complain about. Expect to show ID on the first transfer and to see a fee and an exchange rate, which Bizum does not have because it moves euro to euro.

The overall picture is in how to send money from Spain to Nigeria, and the costs are compared in what it costs.

Using Bizum as part of a legitimate route

You can use Bizum for its proper purpose alongside a transfer to Nigeria: to collect your share from relatives in Spain who are chipping in for a family expense, for example, before one person sends the total to Nigeria through a licensed provider in their own name. The person who sends is the one identified by the provider and the one who may be asked about the source of funds. Keep the Bizum records as evidence if a provider asks where a larger sum came from.

Does Bizum work with a Nigerian SIM?

Bizum runs through a Spanish bank's app and a mobile number linked to that account. A Nigerian phone number on its own does not give access to Bizum. Check your bank's own terms on which numbers can be registered.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme account can be opened from Spain and holds EUR with its own local details alongside NGN, so euro can arrive and stay as euro until you choose to convert with Swap. When you send naira home through Send, the app shows the rate and the fee before you approve. Outside Nigeria, Pryme's services are provided through regulated partners; naira is held by a licensed Nigerian microfinance bank, regulated by the CBN and insured by the NDIC up to the applicable limit.

Questions people ask

Can I Bizum money to Nigeria?

No. Bizum's international option, as listed on its site in October 2026, covers only Portugal and Italy through EuroPA.

Which countries does Bizum send to?

Its international page lists contacts in Portugal (MB WAY) and Italy (Bancomat Pay).

Is it safe to Bizum someone who will send naira to Nigeria?

It is risky: the onward transfer is not covered by any licensed provider's receipt, and Bizum payments are hard to reverse.

What is the quickest alternative to Bizum for Nigeria?

A remittance app paying a Nigerian account or wallet; Ria says card-funded transfers arrive within minutes.
