Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

AI agents

AI sales agent risks: wrong prices, false promises, spam

The main ways an AI sales agent can harm a business, from wrong prices to data leaks, and the controls a small business should put in place.

The short answer

The main risks of an AI sales agent are quoting wrong prices, promising what the business cannot deliver, making untrue claims, messaging people too often or without the right basis, mishandling personal data and being manipulated by crafted messages. Each is manageable with clear rules, a ceiling, approvals, an audit trail and regular review.

AI sales agents can save small businesses a great deal of time. They can also do damage faster than any salesperson, because they act at scale and in writing. Being clear about the risks is the starting point for using one well. This article sets them out plainly, with the controls that reduce each one.

The main risks

RiskWhat it looks likeControl
Wrong priceQuote below list, wrong currency, discount above bandPrice list as the only source; band and ceiling; approvals
False promiseDelivery date or feature nobody agreedPromise register; refuse unconfirmed commitments
Untrue claimOverstated results, invented case studyApproved claims library; review of new wording
Over-messagingToo many follow-ups, ignored opt-outsCadence limits; opt-out list; country rules
Data misusePersonal data used beyond purpose, kept too longData policy; retention rules; access limits
ManipulationA message tricks the agent into revealing data or changing termsAgent cannot change its own rules; inputs treated as data
Silent errorsWrong stage, wrong value, nobody noticesEvery figure cites a source; weekly review

Prices and promises

These are the risks owners worry about first, rightly. A quote or commitment in writing can be relied on. In 2024 a British Columbia tribunal held Air Canada liable for wrong information its chatbot had given about a fare policy, rejecting the argument that the chatbot was responsible for its own words. Whatever the law in your country, assume customers can hold you to what your agent says.

The controls are structural. The agent quotes only from a price list you maintain, discounts only inside a band, and stops above a ceiling. It records every promise and refuses any that depends on another team who has not confirmed it.

Errors will still happen, so plan for them. Decide in advance how you will correct a wrong quote, who contacts the customer and what you are willing to honour. A calm, prompt correction usually costs less than a dispute.

Claims and messaging

Agents write persuasively, and persuasion drifts towards exaggeration. Regulators take misleading claims seriously. The US Federal Trade Commission has warned businesses about unsupported claims, including claims about AI itself, and the UK, Canada and Nigeria all have consumer protection rules against misleading marketing. Give the agent a library of approved claims, with evidence, and review any new wording it proposes.

Messaging frequency is a separate risk. Electronic marketing rules, such as PECR in the UK, CAN-SPAM in the US and CASL in Canada, set conditions on commercial messages, especially unsolicited ones. An agent that follows up relentlessly or ignores an opt-out can create complaints and legal exposure. Set cadence limits, keep a single opt-out list across all channels and check the rules for each country you sell into.

Data and manipulation

Sales agents handle personal data: names, contact details, notes from calls. Data protection laws such as UK GDPR, Nigeria's NDPA and Canada's PIPEDA expect that data to be used for clear purposes, kept accurate and not held longer than needed. Decide what the agent can access, what it may store and for how long.

A newer risk is manipulation through the content an agent reads. A message from a 'customer' might include hidden instructions telling the agent to reveal pricing rules or approve a discount. OWASP lists prompt injection as a leading risk for applications built on large language models. The safeguard is architectural: the agent's rules and ceilings should be enforced outside the model, so no message can change them, and inbound content should be treated as information, never as instructions.

Access is the simplest control. A sales agent rarely needs payroll data, bank details or HR records. Limit it to what its job requires, and it cannot leak what it cannot see. Review those permissions when you add new data sources or connect new tools.

Controls a small business should have

  1. A written mandate: what the agent may do, and the ceiling above which a named person decides.
  2. A single source for prices, terms and approved claims.
  3. Approval for anything above the ceiling, with a named back-up.
  4. An audit trail of every message, quote and change, kept for a defined period.
  5. An opt-out list honoured across every channel.
  6. A weekly sample review: read ten random messages the agent sent.
  7. A clear way to pause the agent if something goes wrong.

Frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework are written for larger organisations, but the core idea applies at any size: know what the system does, measure how it performs, and keep someone accountable.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme agents act inside a mandate with a ceiling, enforced by Pryme Intelligence, the governed agentic operating system they run on, not by settings the agent can change. The Sales agent never prices above band alone, cites the source of every number and refuses unaccepted commitments. The Compliance agent tracks policies and controls, and every action is recorded. See what an audit trail should record and the promise register.

Questions people ask

What is the biggest risk with an AI sales agent?

For most small businesses, wrong prices and promises sent in writing. Clear pricing rules, a ceiling and a promise register reduce both.

Can an AI sales agent be tricked by a customer?

Crafted messages can try to manipulate it. Rules and ceilings should be enforced outside the model so no message can change them.

Am I responsible for what my AI agent tells customers?

You should assume so. Tribunals have held businesses to what their automated systems said. Take advice on your own position.

How often should I review an AI sales agent's work?

Sample its messages weekly at first, and review discounts, promises and complaints monthly.
