Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

AI agents

AI agents for private clinics in Nigeria: what they can safely do

Where AI agents help a Nigerian private clinic with bills, appointments, HMO follow-ups and records, and where the NDPA and clinical judgement set limits.

The short answer

AI agents can run the administrative side of a Nigerian private clinic: appointment reminders, patient bills, deposits, follow-ups with insurers and HMOs, supplier payments and the compliance calendar. They should not give clinical advice, and because health data is sensitive personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, access must be limited and every use recorded.

Private clinics in Nigeria often run on a small team: a medical director, a few nurses, a front desk and an accounts officer who also handles purchasing. The administrative load is heavy. Patients pay in cash, by transfer and through health maintenance organisations; deposits must be collected before procedures; suppliers of drugs and consumables want paying on time; and regulators expect records to be kept properly.

AI agents can carry much of the non-clinical work. The question is where to draw the line, and how to handle patient data lawfully.

Admin a clinic can hand to agents

AreaAgent taskPerson decides
Front deskAppointment confirmations, reminders, opening hours, directions, price lists from your published policyAnything about symptoms or treatment
BillingIssues bills, records deposits, sends balances due, matches transfersWaivers, discounts, payment plans
HMO and insurer claimsTracks claims submitted, ages unpaid ones, drafts follow-upsDisputed claims and contract terms
SuppliersPrepares payments to drug and consumables suppliers, releases those under your limitLarger payments, new suppliers
ComplianceKeeps the calendar of licence renewals, tax and data protection filingsSigning and submitting

The pattern is the same in every row: the agent does the routine work, and a named person decides anything involving money above a limit, clinical matters or exceptions to policy.

Health data and the NDPA

The Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 treats health information as sensitive personal data, which carries stricter conditions for processing than ordinary personal data. The Nigeria Data Protection Commission's General Application and Implementation Directive 2025 adds detail on how controllers should meet the Act's duties. For a clinic using AI agents, that points to a few practical rules:

  • Minimum access. A billing agent needs a patient's name, bill and payment status. It does not need the diagnosis. Give each agent only the fields its task requires.
  • A lawful basis for each use. Reminders, billing and claims each need a basis under the Act. Record which one you rely on.
  • Records of every action. An agent that logs what it read, why and what it did gives you the evidence a regulator or patient may ask for.
  • Vendor checks. Know where data is processed and stored, and what the provider's obligations are under contract.
  • Rights requests. Patients can ask for access to or correction of their data. Someone must own those requests.

This is general information, not legal advice. Our explainer on data rights under the NDPA sets out what patients can ask for.

A worked example

The figures are an example only. A clinic in Abuja sees around 60 patients a day. It sets these rules for its agents: the support agent may confirm appointments and quote published prices, never discuss symptoms; the finance agent may release supplier payments up to ₦500,000; any bill waiver goes to the medical director.

  1. At 07:00 the morning brief shows ₦4.8m in HMO claims older than 60 days across three HMOs, with a follow-up drafted for each.
  2. Overnight, 31 patients messaged. The support agent confirmed 22 appointments and sent prices for six enquiries. Three messages described symptoms; each was passed to the nurse on duty without a reply about the symptoms.
  3. A pharmacy supplier invoice of ₦380,000 is due today and falls under the limit, so it is released and recorded. A ₦1.2m invoice for new equipment waits for approval.
  4. A patient asks to pay a ₦250,000 surgery balance in three instalments. The agent records the request and routes it to the medical director with the patient's payment history.

What agents must not do in a clinic

  • Give medical advice, triage or reassurance about symptoms.
  • Decide whether a patient is treated before paying. That is a clinical and ethical decision.
  • Share records with relatives, employers or insurers without a lawful basis.
  • Change a bill or waive a charge on their own.

How to start without risk

Clinics that adopt agents well tend to move in stages rather than switching everything on at once:

  1. Start with billing and reminders. These use the least sensitive data and save the most front-desk time. Measure missed appointments and unpaid balances before and after.
  2. Add supplier payments with a low ceiling. Let the finance agent release only small, recurring invoices from known suppliers at first, then raise the limit once you trust the records.
  3. Bring in HMO follow-ups. Ageing claims is pure administration and often recovers money that had been forgotten.
  4. Load the compliance calendar last. Licence renewals, tax filings and data protection duties each need an owner. The agent keeps the dates and drafts reminders; a named person signs.

At each stage, write down what the agent may do, what it must never do, and who it reports to. Review its log weekly for the first month. Staff should know that the agent exists, what it handles and how to take a case back from it. A short written policy, kept with your data protection records, also helps show the NDPC that the clinic has thought about how automated tools use patient information.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme Business comes with five AI agents. In a clinic, the Customer Support agent answers only from your policies and escalates what they do not cover; the Finance agent tracks bills, deposits and HMO receivables and releases payments only below your line; the Compliance agent keeps the obligations register. Every action is recorded with its source. The agents are certified by Pryme Intelligence before they act.

Questions people ask

Can an AI agent book appointments for a clinic?

Yes, from your schedule and rules. It should not decide clinical priority, and any message about symptoms should go to a clinician.

Is patient data safe with an AI agent?

It depends on access controls, contracts and records. Limit each agent to the fields it needs, keep a log of every action, and check where the provider processes data.

Can an agent follow up HMO claims?

It can track submitted claims, age the unpaid ones and draft follow-ups. Disputes about whether a claim is covered need a person.

Do clinics need to file anything with the NDPC?

Some data controllers have audit and registration duties under the NDPA and the GAID 2025. Check the NDPC's current guidance or ask a data protection adviser.
