Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Quoting in naira when costs move: an AI sales agent's role

How an AI sales agent helps Nigerian businesses quote in naira when input costs and exchange rates move: validity periods, price bands and owner approval.

The short answer

When costs and exchange rates move, an AI sales agent helps a Nigerian business quote safely by drafting from the current price list, stating a clear validity period, flagging quotes that rely on stale costs and stopping any discount outside the band you set. It records every price promised, so nobody delivers at last month's price by accident. Pricing itself stays with the owner.

Many Nigerian businesses price goods whose costs depend on imported inputs, fuel or the exchange rate. A quote sent in January may be unprofitable by February. Sales reps, keen to close, sometimes honour old prices or promise "same as last time". The result is margin lost one deal at a time, often without the owner noticing until the accounts are done.

An AI sales agent cannot predict costs. It can make sure that every quote is drafted from current prices, is time-limited and is recorded, and that exceptions reach a person.

What a good quote contains

Price basis
The price list or cost date the quote is built on.
Validity period
How long the price holds, for example seven or fourteen days.
VAT
Whether prices include VAT, and at what rate, if you are VAT-registered.
Payment terms
Deposit, balance and when goods are released.
Delivery
The date or window, and only one that operations has accepted.
Adjustment clause
For longer contracts, how prices change if a named cost moves, agreed in advance.

The Nigeria Tax Act 2025 kept VAT as a core business tax while changing several exemptions, as a Mondaq review of the VAT provisions sets out. Qualifying small businesses are relieved from charging VAT. Quote VAT clearly so the customer knows the total. This is general information, not tax advice.

How the agent protects margin

  1. Draft from the current list. Every quote uses the latest approved prices. If the list is older than the limit you set, the agent warns before sending.
  2. Set validity. Every quote carries an expiry date.
  3. Follow up before expiry. The agent reminds the customer that the price holds until a date, which often helps close the sale.
  4. Re-quote after expiry. If the customer accepts late, the agent re-prices from the current list rather than honouring the old figure.
  5. Stop outside the band. Discounts within the band go out; anything above waits for the owner.
  6. Hold promises. Prices, dates and terms promised are recorded against the customer, so finance invoices what sales agreed.

A worked example

Figures are examples only. An Onitsha dealer in electrical cables quotes contractors. The owner reviews the price list every Monday and sets a discount band of up to 5% for orders above ₦2,000,000. Quotes are valid for seven days.

EventWhat the agent does
Contractor asks for 200 rollsDrafts a quote of ₦9,400,000 from Monday's list, valid seven days, VAT shown
Contractor asks for 8% offOffers 5%, within band; flags the 8% request to the owner with the customer's history
Owner approves 6% for a repeat customerSends the revised quote at ₦8,836,000, recording the approval
Contractor accepts on day 10Quote has expired; Monday's new list is 4% higher. Agent tells the customer and re-quotes
Rep promised delivery tomorrow by phoneChecks with operations; no truck is free; flags the promise as unaccepted

Without the agent, the dealer might have delivered at the expired price and an unapproved discount, and missed a delivery promise nobody knew about.

Keeping the price list current

The agent is only as good as the price list it quotes from. A simple routine helps:

  • A fixed review day. The owner or purchasing lead updates prices on the same day each week or fortnight, and the agent records the date.
  • Cost triggers. When the finance side records a supplier invoice well above the last one for the same item, the agent flags the products that use it so the price can be reviewed before the next quote.
  • Margin floor. For each product line, a minimum margin below which no quote goes out without approval, even inside the discount band.
  • Open quotes report. A list of quotes still valid, with their value and expiry, so the owner can see exposure when costs jump.

When costs rise sharply, the open quotes report matters most. The owner can decide whether to honour every open quote, contact customers early, or let some expire. The agent then acts on that decision consistently, and every customer gets the same treatment.

Quoting in dollars

Some businesses quote certain customers in dollars, particularly exporters and those selling to foreign buyers. Where that is lawful for the transaction, the agent drafts in the agreed currency and the finance side records the receipt in that currency. Sales between parties in Nigeria are normally priced in naira. If in doubt, take advice before quoting a Nigerian customer in a foreign currency.

Where the owner stays in charge

  • Setting the price list and how often it changes.
  • Discounts above band and special terms for key customers.
  • Long-term contracts and any price adjustment clauses.
  • Whether to absorb a cost increase for a relationship.

The agent makes those decisions visible and records them. It does not take them. For the follow-up side of sales, see the general guide on AI agents for business finance, and our article on AI agents for distributors for credit control after the sale.

Where Pryme fits

The Sales agent in Pryme Business manages pipeline, follow-ups, proposals and forecasts. It drafts quotes within band and stops anything above band for you; it will not promise a delivery date no agent has accepted. What it sells flows into invoicing, so the price agreed is the price billed.

Questions people ask

How long should a quote be valid in Nigeria?

It depends on how fast your costs move. Many businesses use seven to fourteen days; state the period clearly on every quote.

Can an AI agent change my prices?

No. It drafts from the price list you approve and flags when that list is out of date. Price changes stay with you.

What if a rep has already promised an old price?

The agent records the promise and flags it. You decide whether to honour it; the decision is recorded.

Should quotes include VAT?

If you are required to charge VAT, show it clearly. Small businesses that qualify for relief under the 2025 tax law may not need to; check with an adviser.
