Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to report a fault or outage to AEDC

Every channel AEDC lists for reporting a fault or power outage, the Band A rapid response lines, and how to get a reference you can escalate with.

The short answer

Report an AEDC fault or outage by calling 08039070070, messaging WhatsApp 08152141414 or 08152151515, or using AEDC's outage reporting app (PORS) or the MyPower app. Band A customers also have dedicated rapid response numbers and an online Band A complaint form. Always ask for a reference number so you can escalate if nothing happens.

No light in your house is not always an AEDC fault. Before you call, a two-minute check saves time and tells AEDC what kind of problem it is dealing with. Then use the channel that gets you a reference number, because a complaint without one is hard to escalate. The contacts below are from AEDC's customer service page as at October 2026.

Is it your house, your meter or the area?

AEDC's site says the PORS app allows outage reporting with updates. The MyPower apps, launched in October 2026, also let customers report outages and other service issues and track complaints (Blueprint, 8 October 2026).

Band A customers

If your feeder is Band A (a minimum of 20 hours of supply a day under AEDC's July 2025 NERC order), AEDC lists rapid response contacts for Band A complaints: 07032920415, 08037864995, 08033287036 and 09152370566, and a Band A complaint form at bandacomplaints.abujaelectricity.com. NERC's order requires AEDC to keep a rapid response team and publish its contact details on its website, by bulk SMS and on social media (Section 11(b)).

What to say when you report

  • Your meter number or account number.
  • Your full address and the nearest landmark, plus the feeder or transformer name if you know it.
  • When supply went off, and whether it is your house only, part of the street or the whole area.
  • What the meter shows (credit, error code, blank screen).
  • A phone number that will be reachable when the crew comes.

Ask for a reference number and the expected time to resolve. Write both down with the date and time. NERC's Customer Protection Regulations 2023 recognise complaints by phone, SMS, call centre and social media (Reg 43(5), as summarised by Mondaq), so a WhatsApp or X message counts, but screenshot the conversation.

Before you let a crew in

AEDC says the MyPower app lets you verify the identity of AEDC staff before granting access to your premises. Use it, or call the call centre to confirm, before letting anyone work on your meter. If anyone asks you to pay cash to restore supply, ask for the request in writing and check it with AEDC first.

Keep a simple supply log

A complaint about 'poor supply' is easy to brush aside; a written log is not. For a fortnight, note the time power goes off and comes back each day, and add up the hours. Compare the total with your band's minimum: 20 hours a day for Band A, 16 for B, 12 for C, 8 for D and 4 for E under AEDC's July 2025 order. AEDC's customer service page also links a feeder availability dashboard and a Band A supply-hours dashboard, so you can set your own log against the figures AEDC publishes for your feeder. If they differ, attach both to your complaint.

If nothing happens

  1. Follow up on the same channel, quoting the reference.
  2. For Band A feeders, use the Band A complaint form and rapid response lines. AEDC must publish a rolling seven-day average of daily supply hours for each Band A feeder and, after two consecutive days below the band level, explain the failure on its website (Sections 11(c) and 11(d) of the order).
  3. Escalate to the NERC Forum Office with your reference, as NERC's Metering Factsheet sets out (DisCo, then Forum, then NERC). See the Forum Offices directory.

Long outages on a Band A feeder can lead to a downgrade and compensation; read what to do when AEDC Band A gives less than 20 hours.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme cannot fix a fault, but if your meter is simply out of credit you can buy an AEDC token in the Pryme app (/p/electricity) and load it at once. Keep your token receipts in one place in case a meter fault turns into a billing dispute.

Questions people ask

What is AEDC customer care number for fault?

AEDC's customer service page lists 08039070070, 08152141414 and 08152151515. WhatsApp lines are 08152141414, 08152151515, 09161012128 and 09162012128.

How do I report no light to AEDC on WhatsApp?

Message 08152141414 or 08152151515 with your meter or account number, address, landmark and when supply went off, and ask for a reference number.

Is there an AEDC app to report outage?

Yes. AEDC lists the Power Outage Reporting System (PORS) app on Google Play and the App Store, and its MyPower apps launched in October 2026 also take outage reports.

What can I do if my Band A area has no light for days?

Use AEDC's Band A rapid response numbers and the complaint form at bandacomplaints.abujaelectricity.com. After seven consecutive days below 20 hours, NERC's order says the feeder is downgraded to its recorded level of supply.
