Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

How to transfer with Access Bank *901# to any bank

The *901*Amount*Account# string, PIN setup, charges, limits and what to do when a USSD transfer hangs or you are debited twice.

The short answer

To send money from Access Bank by USSD, dial *901*Amount*AccountNumber# from your linked number, for example *901*5000*0123456789#, choose the recipient's bank, confirm the name shown and enter your four-digit *901# PIN. Access Bank's FAQ says the network charges ₦6.98 per USSD financial transaction, on top of any transfer fee; the bank's *901# page does not publish a separate USSD daily limit.

The transfer string

Access Bank's Nigerian *901# page lists one transfer format, as at October 2026: *901*Amount*NUBAN Account Number#. The NUBAN is the recipient's ten-digit account number. The page gives the example *901*1000*1234512345#, and says the transfer is confirmed with your four-digit security code.

  1. From the phone number linked to your Access Bank account, dial *901*Amount*AccountNumber#, for example *901*5000*0123456789#.
  2. Select the recipient's bank from the list, or confirm it if the menu detects it.
  3. Check the account name that appears. If it is not the person you expect, end the session.
  4. Choose the account to debit if you have more than one.
  5. Enter your four-digit *901# PIN.
  6. Wait for the confirmation message and the debit alert.

Transfers to other banks go over the interbank instant payment system.

Before your first transfer: set a PIN

If you have never used *901#, the first request takes you through setup. Access Bank's FAQ describes it: choose a service, enter your account number and date of birth in DDMMYYYY format, then create a four-digit PIN. You can also dial *901*0#. Our guide to setting or resetting the PIN has the details.

What a *901# transfer costs

There are two separate charges to think about.

  • The network's USSD charge. Access Bank's FAQ says networks charge ₦6.98 per USSD financial transaction (from 6 June 2021). The bank says it does not charge for the USSD service itself.
  • The transfer fee. The CBN Guide to Charges (effective 1 January 2020, section 10.13) says prevailing NIP charges apply to USSD transfers. A February 2024 Brandcom report of Access Bank's charges listed ₦10 below ₦5,000, ₦25 for ₦5,000 to ₦50,000 and ₦50 above ₦50,000. That is a third-party report and may have changed; the menu or the app shows the current fee.

Our planned guide to Access Bank transfer charges covers the full fee table and stamp duty.

Limits

Access Bank's *901# page and USSD FAQ do not state a daily USSD transfer limit. In practice your ceiling is set by two things: your account's KYC tier, and any channel limit the bank applies to USSD. If a larger transfer is declined, split it, use the app or online banking, or ask the bank for your current USSD limit. Our explainer on CBN transfer limits sets out the rules.

If the transfer hangs or fails

A USSD session can drop after you enter your PIN, leaving you unsure whether the money went. Repeating the transfer immediately is the most common way people end up paying twice.

  1. Do not dial again yet. Check your balance with *901*00# or the AccessMore app.
  2. If you were not debited, the transfer did not go; you can try again.
  3. If you were debited, ask the recipient to check. Interbank credits sometimes arrive minutes later.
  4. If the recipient still has nothing after a reasonable wait, contact Access Bank on 07003000000 or contactcenter@accessbankplc.com with the date, time, amount, recipient account and bank, and any session reference.
  5. If the bank does not resolve it, escalate as described in our guide to complaining to a bank and the CBN.

Sent to the wrong account

If the name shown was wrong and you sent anyway, the money is in someone else's account. Report it to Access Bank at once and ask it to contact the receiving bank. Recovery depends on the recipient's bank and, often, the recipient's cooperation.

Checks that prevent most losses

USSD screens are small and the name check comes and goes quickly. These habits catch most mistakes and most scams before the PIN goes in.

  • Read the account name on the confirmation screen every time, even for someone you have paid before.
  • Type the account number from a written source, not from memory, and compare the last four digits before confirming.
  • Be careful with requests to pay a new account for a known person or supplier; call them on a number you already have before paying. Our guide to supplier bank detail fraud explains the pattern.
  • Never dial a string someone sends you to receive money. A string that starts with *901* and includes an amount sends money from your account.
  • Keep the debit alert and the confirmation SMS until the recipient confirms receipt.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme's Send lets you transfer from the app, showing the recipient's name before you approve. It is an option for people who want a second account alongside their bank, not a replacement for checking the name on screen.

Questions people ask

What is the Access Bank code for transfer to other banks?

Dial *901*Amount*AccountNumber# from your linked line, choose the recipient's bank, confirm the name and enter your *901# PIN.

How much is Access Bank USSD transfer charge?

The network charges ₦6.98 per USSD financial transaction, per Access Bank's FAQ, plus the bank's transfer fee. The menu or app shows the current fee.

What is the Access Bank USSD transfer limit per day?

Access Bank's *901# page does not state one. Your limit depends on your KYC tier and the bank's channel limits; ask the bank for your current figure.

My Access Bank USSD transfer was debited but not received. What do I do?

Check your balance, ask the recipient to check, then contact Access Bank on 07003000000 with the date, amount and recipient details. Do not repeat the transfer until you know.
