Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

12-month and longer loans in Nigeria: who offers them

Which Nigerian lenders offer personal loans over 12 to 36 months or more, what they require, and how the monthly repayment is calculated.

The short answer

Most loan apps lend for weeks or a few months, so 12- to 36-month personal loans come mainly from banks and payroll lenders. As at Oct 2026, GTBank QuickCredit runs up to 12 months, Stanbic IBTC EZ Cash up to 24 months, Access Bank’s personal loan up to 36 months and Sterling’s payroll loan up to 60 months. Longer tenors lower the monthly payment but raise the total interest.

A loan you repay over a year or more is easier to fit into a monthly budget than a 30-day app loan. Longer personal loans in Nigeria are mostly tied to a salary: the lender relies on your pay arriving in an account it can see, or on deduction by your employer. This guide lists lenders that publish longer tenors and shows how the monthly payment is worked out.

Lenders that publish 12-month or longer tenors

Lender and productMaximum tenorPublished terms (as at Oct 2026)
GTBank QuickCredit12 months2.95% a month (about 35.4% a year), 1% credit insurance; salary account for 12 months; equal monthly instalments; no prepayment penalty.
QuickCheck (app)12 monthsSite says loans repayable over up to 12 months.
Stanbic IBTC EZ Cash24 monthsStanbic account for at least 6 months, payslips and statements; employer on eligible list.
Access Bank Personal Loan36 monthsUp to 75% of net annual salary with terminal benefits, 50% without; employer confirmation and letter of lien or set-off.
Credit Direct federal loan3 to 36 months in its FAQPage elsewhere mentions 12 months; flat interest described as about 4% to 4.95% without stating the period. Ask for written terms.
Sterling Specta Basic48 months40% a year (varies by community); salary domiciliation.
Sterling payroll loan60 months39% a year, 1% management, 2% insurance; repayments capped at 33.3% of net monthly salary.

These are the lenders’ own published figures, which change; the bank or app shows the current terms before you accept. For context, the CBN’s money market indicators put the average maximum lending rate at 29.20% a year for August 2026, and the CBN reset the monetary policy rate to 23% at its September 2026 meeting. Check the CBN pages for current figures.

Why apps lend short and banks lend long

Apps lend to people they know little about, so they keep loans short and reprice quickly. Banks and payroll lenders can see or control your salary, which reduces their risk over a longer period. Google Play’s policy also bars personal loan apps that require full repayment in 60 days or less, but that does not make apps long-term lenders. If you have no salary account, see loans without a salary account.

How the monthly repayment is calculated

Most bank term loans use a reducing balance: each month you pay interest on what you still owe, plus some principal, in equal instalments. The formula is the one behind the PMT function in Excel or Google Sheets: payment = P × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)−n), where P is the amount borrowed, r the monthly rate and n the number of months. Keep the units consistent: a 39% yearly rate is 3.25% a month.

Worked example: ₦600,000 at 39% a year

Example only, using Sterling’s published payroll rate as at Oct 2026 and ignoring fees.

TenorMonthly paymentTotal repaidTotal interest
12 monthsAbout ₦61,180About ₦734,164About ₦134,164
24 monthsAbout ₦36,389About ₦873,344About ₦273,344
36 monthsAbout ₦28,517About ₦1,026,612About ₦426,612

Tripling the tenor cuts the monthly payment by more than half but more than triples the interest. Add upfront fees: at 1% management and 2% insurance, ₦18,000 on ₦600,000.

Flat rate versus reducing balance

Some lenders quote a flat rate, charged on the original amount for the whole term. A flat 3.25% a month on ₦600,000 for 12 months is ₦234,000 of interest, compared with about ₦134,164 on a reducing balance at the same headline rate. Always ask which method applies; see APR vs flat fee.

What to check first

  1. Does your employer appear on the lender’s eligible list, and is your salary paid where the lender needs it?
  2. Is the rate monthly or yearly, flat or reducing?
  3. What is the monthly payment as a share of your take-home pay? Some lenders cap it, as Sterling does at 33.3%.
  4. Can you repay early, and is there a charge?
  5. What happens if you change jobs before the loan ends?

If your circumstances change, ask the lender early about restructuring. GTBank, for example, lists a 0.5% restructuring fee on the outstanding balance for QuickCredit (as at Oct 2026), which is usually cheaper than falling into arrears.

See also how much loan you can get on your salary.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not offer 12-month personal loans. Loans on Spaces are lent by Solid Allianze MFB for spending with Spaces merchants, with the amount, cost and repayment date shown before you accept; see Loans on Spaces.

Questions people ask

Which bank gives 3-year personal loans in Nigeria?

Access Bank lists personal loans of up to 36 months, and Sterling lists payroll loans of up to 60 months (as at Oct 2026). Both rely on your salary and employer.

Are there loan apps with 12 months repayment?

Some apps, such as QuickCheck, say loans can be repaid over up to 12 months. Most app loans are shorter. Check the app is on the FCCPC approved list.

How do I calculate my monthly loan repayment?

Use payment = P × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)^−n) with the monthly rate, or the PMT function in Excel or Google Sheets. Add fees separately.

Is a longer loan better?

It lowers the monthly payment but increases the total interest. Choose the shortest tenor whose payment you can comfortably afford.
