An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Reported tanker delivery ranges for Lagos in 2026, a labelled jerrycan example, cost per litre worked out, and what makes vendor water dearer.
A June 2026 property guide put water tanker deliveries in Lagos at roughly ₦15,000 to ₦40,000 each, and ₦60,000 to ₦120,000 a month for a household that relies on them. We found no current published survey of mairuwa (jerrycan vendor) prices in Lagos, so prices here are labelled examples. Agree the price per jerrycan before delivery. Prices rise with diesel, distance and dry-season demand.
Lagos Water Corporation reaches only part of the city, and a 2026 property guide describes LWC supply as covering a small fraction of residential areas. Many homes therefore buy water: from tanker operators who fill an overhead or ground tank, from mairuwa who push carts of 25-litre jerrycans, or as sachets and bottles for drinking. Prices are set street by street and are not regulated. This article sets out the reported ranges, a worked example of cost per litre, and how to avoid overpaying.
Ownkey's Q2 2026 guide to water supply for Nigerian property gave these Lagos estimates:
| Item | Reported range (Q2 2026) |
|---|---|
| Tanker delivery | ₦15,000 to ₦40,000 per delivery |
| Monthly, household relying on tankers | ₦60,000 to ₦120,000 |
| Monthly, three-bedroom family (separate estimate) | ₦60,000 to ₦100,000 |
| Borehole with overhead tank, installed (alternative) | ₦580,000 to ₦1.5 million |
| Borehole running cost | ₦5,000 to ₦15,000 a month |
The guide does not give the tanker size behind each price, and delivery size varies, so always ask how many litres a load is. A price per delivery means little until you know the volume.
Mairuwa sell by the jerrycan, usually 25 litres, and price by distance, stairs and how scarce water is that week. We could not find a current published survey for Lagos, so the example below is illustrative only. Ask on your street and agree the price per jerrycan before delivery starts. If you buy daily, a weekly arrangement with one vendor often gets a steadier price and a more reliable delivery time than buying from whoever passes.
| Source (example) | Example price | Litres | Cost per litre |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jerrycan from a mairuwa | ₦150 | 25 | ₦6 |
| Tanker fill of a 5,000-litre tank | ₦25,000 | 5,000 | ₦5 |
On these example figures, a household using four jerrycans a day spends 4 × ₦150 × 30 = ₦18,000 a month for 3,000 litres. A household that fills a 5,000-litre tank twice a month spends ₦50,000 for 10,000 litres. Per litre the tanker is a little cheaper, but only if you have a tank and use the volume. Jerrycans suit small flats with no storage, and tankers suit houses with a tank.
Where several flats share one ground tank, tenants often split each delivery. Splitting equally is simple, but it is unfair to a single occupant sharing with a family of six. A fairer method is to split by the number of people in each flat, or to fit sub-meters if the landlord agrees. Example: a ₦25,000 delivery shared by flats of 2, 3 and 5 people (10 in total) works out at ₦5,000, ₦7,500 and ₦12,500. Write the method down, and let one person collect the money and keep the receipt.
Vendor prices tend to climb when public supply and boreholes fall short, which in Lagos often happens in the dry season and during long power outages. If you have storage space, filling your tank before demand peaks can avoid paying peak prices. A cheap way to spread the cost is to set aside a fixed sum every month, so a scarce month is already funded.
Many households buy sachet or bottled water for drinking even when they have a tank. A News Agency of Nigeria survey in May 2026 found a bag of sachet water selling for ₦500 to ₦800 in many Lagos areas, up from ₦350 to ₦450 in late 2025. One Ajao Estate resident said she spent ₦16,000 to ₦20,000 a month on sachets.
Vendors increasingly accept transfers. Paying from your Pryme account by transfer leaves a dated record, so you can see what water really costs you each month. Holding the water budget in a Savings Box keeps it apart from other spending; see the monthly utility budget example.
A June 2026 property guide put tanker deliveries in Lagos at about ₦15,000 to ₦40,000 each, depending on load size and location. Always ask how many litres the load is.
There is no published current survey for Lagos; prices vary by street, distance and scarcity. Agree the price per 25-litre jerrycan before delivery. Our ₦150 figure is only an example.
Over time it can be. The same guide put borehole installation at ₦580,000 to ₦1.5 million, with running costs of ₦5,000 to ₦15,000 a month, against ₦60,000 to ₦120,000 a month for tanker reliance.
Diesel and transport costs, power outages that stop boreholes, and limited public supply all push vendor prices up. Producers also cite packaging and input costs for sachet water.
