Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Water tank dealership: brands, margins and delivery

How plastic water tank dealerships work: dealer terms to ask for, which manufacturer to stock, sizes, delivery costs and a labelled monthly margin.

The short answer

A water tank dealer buys tanks from a manufacturer or distributor at a trade price and resells them, usually with delivery, to households, builders and estates. In our labelled example, selling 18 tanks a month across three sizes earns about ₦400,000 gross and about ₦160,000 after delivery, rent and staff, on stock worth about ₦2.6 million. Delivery and stock space decide whether the business pays.

How a tank dealership works

Plastic water tanks are bulky, light and awkward to transport, which shapes the whole business. Manufacturers sell through dealers who hold stock close to buyers, advise on size, and arrange delivery. A dealer's customers are mainly households replacing old tanks, builders and plumbers fitting new houses, estate developers, schools and churches, and businesses such as car washes and water vendors.

Many dealers add related plastic products: buckets, drums, pipes and fittings, chairs and storage boxes. These sell faster than tanks and share the same delivery runs.

Choosing which manufacturer to stock

Customers often ask for tanks by brand, so stocking a known name helps. But the brand on the tank matters less to your margin than the terms behind it. Compare manufacturers on these points:

  • Build quality: wall thickness, number of layers, UV stabilisation for tanks that sit in the sun, and lid and outlet fittings.
  • Certification: SON runs a MANCAP certification scheme for locally made products; in 2021, for example, it told gas plants that locally made cylinders must carry a MANCAP number. Ask each tank manufacturer whether its tanks are MANCAP certified and for a copy of the certificate.
  • Warranty: what it covers, who handles claims, and whether you or the factory replaces a cracked tank.
  • Size range: whether the factory makes the sizes your area buys most, and how often popular sizes go out of stock.

Sizes and what buyers ask for

Manufacturers publish their own size lists, and these differ, so stock against what your area buys rather than the whole catalogue. As a rough guide to demand, households replacing a roof tank tend to ask for the smaller and middle sizes, builders fitting new homes buy several mid-size tanks at once, and estates, schools and businesses buy the largest sizes or several tanks linked together. Keep a sales book for three months and you will see which two or three sizes make most of your money; hold those in stock and order the rest when a customer pays a deposit.

Ask buyers where the tank will stand. A tank on a high stand or roof needs a stronger stand and careful lifting, and that conversation often leads to a second sale: stands, fittings, pipes and installation by a plumber you trust.

Dealer terms to ask for in writing

TermWhat to ask
Trade pricePrice per size, and how often the list changes
Minimum orderQuantity or value per order, and whether it can be mixed across sizes
Volume rebatesDiscount or bonus after a monthly or quarterly target
Payment termsCash before loading, or credit after you build a record
Delivery to youWhether the factory delivers to your yard and at what charge
TerritoryWhether another dealer will be appointed nearby
Display and brandingSignage or display stock provided by the manufacturer
Damage policyWhat happens to tanks cracked in transit

Dealer terms are set by each manufacturer and we found none published, so treat everything here as questions, not promises.

Worked example: one month (example figures)

Example only. Prices are illustrative. Use the trade and retail prices you are actually quoted.

SizeSoldBuy priceSell priceMargin
1,000 litres10₦90,000₦105,000₦150,000
2,000 litres6₦160,000₦185,000₦150,000
5,000 litres2₦380,000₦430,000₦100,000
Total18₦400,000

Against that ₦400,000: 12 delivery trips at ₦15,000 cost ₦180,000, of which customers paid back ₦120,000 at ₦10,000 a delivery, leaving ₦60,000. Rent for a yard is ₦80,000 and a helper is ₦100,000. That leaves ₦160,000 for the month. Holding one of each sale in stock would tie up ₦2,620,000 (10 × ₦90,000 + 6 × ₦160,000 + 2 × ₦380,000), so the return on stock is modest unless sales grow or the manufacturer gives credit.

Delivery: where profit is made or lost

  • Tanks are light but take up a whole truck bed; plan routes so one trip serves several customers.
  • Charge delivery as its own line on the invoice so customers see what they are paying for.
  • Strap tanks properly; a tank that blows off a truck is lost margin and a road danger.
  • Agree whether your price includes carrying the tank to the roof or stand. Installation is often a separate charge.
  • Customers paying ₦10,000 or more by transfer bear a ₦50 stamp duty from January 2026, deducted from the sender, so it does not reduce what you receive.

Register the dealership with the CAC before approaching manufacturers; many prefer registered dealers, and the May 2025 schedule put business name registration at ₦20,000. For more on collecting payment, see POS terminal or bank transfer and how to get paid in Nigeria.

Where Pryme fits

Builders and estate managers often pay part now and part on delivery. A Pryme Business Account includes invoicing with delivery as its own line, bank-transfer checkout, and verifiable receipts through our partnership with VerifyDoc.ai.

Questions people ask

How do I become a water tank distributor in Nigeria?

Contact the manufacturer's sales office, ask for its dealer requirements, minimum order and trade price list, and register your business with the CAC. Get the terms in writing before paying for stock.

What is the profit on a water tank?

It depends on the trade price you are given and local competition. In our labelled example margins ranged from ₦15,000 on a 1,000-litre tank to ₦50,000 on a 5,000-litre tank, before delivery and rent.

Which water tank brand is best in Nigeria?

Compare wall thickness, layers, UV stabilisation, warranty and SON certification rather than the name alone. Ask each manufacturer for its MANCAP certificate and warranty terms.

How much does it cost to deliver a water tank?

It depends on distance, vehicle and how many tanks share a trip. Charge delivery as a separate line, and plan routes so one trip serves several buyers.
