Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Turkey student visa: funds Nigerians must show

The Turkish Embassy in Abuja's financial evidence list, the sponsor letter for students, and the residence permit you apply for after arriving in Türkiye.

The short answer

The Turkish Embassy in Abuja's visa checklist asks for your last six months of bank statements with a bank reference letter, and, for students or anyone whose own means are not enough, a sponsor's commitment letter with the sponsor's statements and passport copy. It sets no fixed balance. After arrival, a student applies for a residence permit through Türkiye's e-İkamet system, which needs address proof, a fee receipt and health insurance covering the permit period.

Studying in Türkiye there involves two separate permissions: the visa issued by the embassy in Nigeria that lets you enter, and the residence permit issued in Türkiye that lets you stay for your studies. Each has its own document list, and money is tested mainly at the first step.

The embassy's financial evidence

The checklist published by the Embassy of Türkiye in Abuja puts money under the heading 'Financial Guarantee'. The copy we reviewed is a 2017 PDF, so download the current version before you apply. It asks for:

  1. Your last six months of bank statements, with a reference letter from the bank, showing transactions and your full name.
  2. An employer's letter, if you work in Nigeria, stating your annual salary, position and leave dates.
  3. A sponsor's commitment letter, if your own means are not sufficient 'or if you are a student in Nigeria'. The sponsor states they will be responsible for your expenses, and adds proof of their own means, in the same form as above, and a copy of their passport. Students should also provide their student ID.
  4. An income tax clearance certificate, original and copy, if you are a business person.

The checklist does not set a minimum balance. An officer reads the statements against what you are going to do: the tuition on your admission letter, your accommodation, and your living costs. A balance that jumps shortly before the application, with no salary or business income to explain it, weakens the file.

Other items on the same checklist

  • Visa form, signed, and a passport valid for at least six months from the date of application, with two 6cm x 5cm photographs.
  • A flight reservation with confirmed dates.
  • Proof of accommodation: a hotel booking for the whole stay, or an official invitation from a host in Türkiye.
  • Yellow fever and typhoid vaccination cards, and the national ID card.
  • Travel health insurance covering the whole intended stay.
  • A separate reference number for each family member from the online visa application system.

Typical costs to plan for

The 2017 checklist listed the non-refundable application fee as USD 250 for single entry and USD 400 for multiple entry. That figure is old; check the current fee with the embassy or its application centre before you budget. Beyond the visa, plan for:

  • Tuition: the first instalment set by your university, shown on your admission or invoice.
  • Accommodation: a dormitory place or rented flat; you will need proof of this again for the residence permit.
  • Health insurance: required both for the visa and for the residence permit.
  • The residence permit card fee: paid online through e-İkamet or at tax offices and contracted banks once you apply. The amount is shown when you pay.
  • Living costs: food, transport and phone, which vary widely by city.

Worked example

Example: a student from Port Harcourt is admitted to a private university in Istanbul. The first-year tuition invoice is USD 6,000. A dormitory quotes USD 300 a month for 10 months, which is USD 3,000. The family budgets USD 250 a month for food and transport, another USD 2,500. The sponsor's six months of statements and commitment letter should together show they can meet USD 6,000 + 3,000 + 2,500 = USD 11,500, converted into naira at the rate on the day. These are example figures; use your own invoices.

The residence permit step in Türkiye

Once you arrive, you apply for a student residence permit through e-İkamet, the online system of Göç İdaresi, Türkiye's migration authority. Its student document list includes:

  • The residence permit application form, signed.
  • A copy of your passport's data page; bring the original to the appointment.
  • The receipt showing the permit card fee has been paid.
  • Proof of address: a signed and stamped letter from your dormitory, a notarised lease, or a notarised undertaking from the person you are staying with.
  • Health insurance valid for the permit period. The list notes that students who apply within three months of the start of the academic year can join Türkiye's general health insurance (GSS).

The residence permit list we reviewed does not include a bank statement. Money is tested at the visa stage.

A funded alternative

The Türkiye Scholarships programme is government-funded. Its 2026 announcement said applications ran from 10 January to 20 February 2026 for associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral study, with support covering a stipend, tuition, accommodation, health insurance and university placement. A scholarship letter changes what you need to prove at the embassy, so attach it in place of a family sponsor's statements if you hold one.

Where Pryme fits

If your tuition invoice is in dollars or euros, a Pryme Personal Account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR, and Swap shows the rate and the fee before you approve a conversion. After paying, you can generate a verifiable receipt with VerifyDoc.ai. For how a sponsor letter is usually written, see using a sponsor's bank statement.

Questions people ask

How much money do I need in my account for a Turkish student visa?

The Turkish Embassy in Abuja's checklist does not set a minimum. It asks for six months of bank statements with a bank reference letter, or a sponsor's commitment letter and statements. Show enough for tuition, accommodation and living costs.

Can my parents sponsor my Turkey student visa from Nigeria?

Yes. The checklist accepts a commitment letter from a sponsor saying they will cover your expenses, with their own bank statements and passport copy.

Do I need a bank statement for a Turkish residence permit?

The e-İkamet student document list we reviewed does not include one. It asks for the form, passport copy, fee receipt, address proof and health insurance.

How much is a Turkey visa fee in Nigeria?

The 2017 embassy checklist listed USD 250 single entry and USD 400 multiple entry. Check the current fee with the embassy before you apply.
