Ten years, one trunk

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Safety

Signs your phone is monitored: stalkerware and spyware

Worried someone is watching your phone? The real signs of spyware and stalkerware, how to check apps and accessibility access, and when to reset.

The short answer

The strongest signs of spyware or stalkerware are things you can check: an app you did not install, an app with accessibility, device admin or screen-recording access it does not need, and someone knowing what is in your messages or bank alerts. Battery drain and heat alone prove little. If you find something, secure your money first from another device, then remove the app or factory reset, bearing in mind that removing stalkerware can alert whoever installed it.

Spyware and stalkerware are not the same threat

Spyware in the financial sense is usually installed by tricking you: a fake app, a link, a pop-up. Its goal is your money. Fidelity Bank's July 2026 advisory, as reported by Techeconomy, describes Remote Access Trojans disguised as betting, streaming, phone-optimisation, bank-support and fake system update apps, which let fraudsters steal banking credentials, intercept one-time passwords and monitor what you do.

Stalkerware is usually installed by someone with physical access to your phone: a partner, relative or employer. Its goal is watching you: location, messages, calls, photos. It may also show them your bank alerts and balances, which matters if money is part of the control.

The checks are similar; the response can differ, because removing stalkerware may tip off a person you live with.

Signs worth taking seriously

SignHow much it suggests
An app you do not remember installing, or one with a generic name like 'System Service' or 'Update'Strong
An app with accessibility, device admin, notification access or screen recording that has no reason for itStrong
Someone knows the contents of private messages, your location or a bank alert you did not shareStrong
OTPs arriving that you did not request, or transfers you did not makeStrong; act at once
A bank app warning that another app is drawing over the screenModerate
Battery draining fast, phone hot when idle, data use risingWeak on its own; many normal apps do this
Odd noises on calls, screen lighting up by itselfWeak; usually not spyware

How to check your phone

Android

  1. Open Settings, Apps and go through the full list, including system apps if your phone lets you show them. Search the name of anything unfamiliar before removing it.
  2. Open Settings, Accessibility (sometimes under Installed apps or Downloaded apps inside it). Any app here can read your screen and act for you. Only tools you knowingly use should be listed.
  3. Look for device admin apps, usually under Settings, Security, Device admin apps or Other security settings. Remove admin rights from anything you do not recognise before uninstalling it.
  4. Check Special app access for Display over other apps, Notification access and Install unknown apps.
  5. Open Google Play, your profile, Play Protect and run a scan.

iPhone

  1. Check Settings, General, VPN and Device Management for profiles you did not add.
  2. Review Settings, Privacy and Security for apps with location, microphone, camera or screen access.
  3. Check whether your Apple Account is signed in on devices you do not own, and change the password if anyone else knows it.
  4. Look for unfamiliar apps on every home screen page and in the App Library.

What to do if you find something

  • Secure money first, from a different device. Change your banking passwords and PINs, and your email password. Ask your bank to block digital channels if you see unknown activity.
  • If the threat is a fraudster's app: switch off internet, remove admin and accessibility rights, uninstall the app, then change passwords again from the clean phone.
  • If the threat may be a person close to you: think about your safety before removing it. Removing stalkerware can alert the person who installed it. Support organisations and the police can help you plan.
  • If you cannot find or remove it: back up photos and contacts (not apps), then factory reset. On iPhone, Apple lists the path as Settings, General, Transfer or Reset iPhone, Erase All Content and Settings. After the reset, set up as new rather than restoring a full backup that may bring the app back.

Signs on the bank side

Sometimes the clue is not on the phone at all but in your accounts. Look for logins from devices you do not own, password reset emails you did not request, alerts for transfers to unfamiliar names, or a bank app that suddenly asks you to set up the device again. If your bank or email shows a list of signed-in devices, check it and sign out of anything you do not recognise. These are signs someone has your credentials, whether through spyware or another route, and the response is the same: change passwords from a clean device and ask the bank to block digital channels while you sort it out.

Prevention that works

  • A screen lock nobody else knows, and a different banking PIN. See why one PIN for everything is risky.
  • Install apps only from official stores and keep 'Install unknown apps' off.
  • Never give your unlocked phone to anyone for long, including repair shops, without signing out of banking apps first.
  • Use an authenticator app for codes; see authenticator app vs SMS.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme login codes come from an authenticator app rather than SMS, and payments need your transaction PIN; read more on Pryme security. If you think your phone has been compromised, contact us through the contact page from another device.

Questions people ask

How do I know if my phone is being monitored?

Look for apps you did not install and apps with accessibility, device admin or screen access they do not need. Someone knowing your private messages or alerts is a stronger sign than battery drain.

Can someone see my bank app through spyware?

Yes. Malware with accessibility or remote access can read the screen, capture what you type and intercept OTPs. Secure your accounts from another device and remove the app.

Does factory reset remove spyware?

A full factory reset removes installed apps, including most spyware. Set the phone up as new afterwards rather than restoring a complete backup.

How do I check accessibility apps on Android?

Open Settings, then Accessibility, and look at installed or downloaded services. Turn off and investigate anything you did not deliberately enable.
