Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

How to report a loan app to the NDPC for misusing your data

How to file a data protection complaint against a loan app with the NDPC: your rights under the NDPA, what to send, the timelines and the remedies.

The short answer

Email a complaint to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at info@ndpc.gov.ng, or send a hard copy, with screenshots, the app and company name and a dated account of the misuse. Under the NDPC's 2025 Directive it acknowledges within 7 days and gives the company 21 days to reply; remedies include orders to stop, erase data and pay compensation.

Who the NDPC is and why it matters

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission enforces the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA). The Act applies to companies operating in Nigeria and also to those outside Nigeria that process the data of people in Nigeria (section 2, as summarised by the NDPC). A loan app that takes your contact list and uses it to shame you, shares your details with people you did not authorise, or keeps processing your data after you object, may be in breach. The FCCPC's 2025 digital lending Regulations also require lenders to comply with the NDPA (Regulation 21(a)), so a data breach by a lender is a matter for both regulators.

Your rights that apply here

Consent
The NDPC describes consent as very important; data sharing with third parties requires explicit consent (GAID Article 41(9)).
Erasure
You have the right to have your data erased on grounds set out in GAID Article 38, including where you object and there is no overriding legal ground.
Careful sharing
Data must not be shared carelessly or recklessly even where consent was given (GAID Article 42(3)(a)).
Complaint
You can report to the Commission as the supervisory authority; the NDPC cites sections 34 to 38 of the Act on data subject rights.
Court
The NDPC notes that data subjects can bring civil actions in court against a controller or processor.

The GAID, the NDPC's General Application and Implementation Directive of 2025, also names granting apps access to phone contacts as conduct that can put others at risk (Article 6(2)(a)). Our explainer on your data rights under the NDPA covers the rights more broadly.

How to file the complaint

The GAID says complaints can be filed by hard copy or by email (Article 39). Contact details on the NDPC's site, checked in October 2026:

  • Email: info@ndpc.gov.ng
  • Phone: +234 (0) 916 061 5551
  • Address: 1919 Cadastral Zone C06, Mbora District, opposite Efab City Estate, Life Camp, FCT, Abuja

Include, in one email with attachments:

  1. Your name, phone number and email, and that you are the data subject.
  2. The app name, the developer or company name on the store listing, and the loan reference.
  3. What happened, in dated order: what data was taken, how it was used, who received messages.
  4. Screenshots of the messages sent to your contacts, with dates and sender numbers.
  5. Screenshots of the permission the app requested.
  6. Any message you sent the company objecting or asking for erasure, and its reply.
  7. What you want: that processing stops, your data and your contacts' data are erased, and any remedy the Commission thinks fit.

You do not have to complain to the company first. Under GAID Article 40, a grievance notice to the company is not a precondition for a complaint to the Commission. It is still worth sending one, as the reply often becomes evidence.

Asking the company to erase your data

A short written request to the lender helps either way: it may stop the misuse, and if ignored it shows the Commission you tried. Send it through the app's support channel and the privacy or data protection email in its privacy policy.

What happens next

Stage (GAID Article 39)Timeline in the Directive
Commission acknowledges your complaintWithin 7 days
Preliminary evaluation; case file opened if a violation is foundNot fixed
Company receives notice of investigation and must replyWithin 21 days, unless the Commission sets otherwise
Decision communicated to you and the companyWithin 7 days of the decision

What remedies exist

Under section 48 of the NDPA, as summarised on the NDPC's FAQ page, the Commission can order a company in breach to remedy the violation, pay compensation to a data subject who suffered injury, loss or harm, account for profits made from the violation, or pay a remedial fee. For a data controller of major importance the penalty or fee can reach the greater of ₦10 million and 2% of the previous year's annual gross revenue; for others, the greater of ₦2 million and 2%. Separately, the FCCPC can suspend or delist an approved lender (Regulation 27 of its 2025 Regulations).

Run it alongside other reports

File with the FCCPC too (lenderstaskforce@fccpc.gov.ng), flag the app on Google Play (how to report a loan app on Google Play), and revoke the app's permissions on your phone (revoking contacts permission). Threats of harm are a police matter.

Questions people ask

How do I report a loan app to NDPC?

Email info@ndpc.gov.ng, or send a hard copy to the NDPC office in Mbora District, Abuja, with screenshots, the app and company name, and a dated account of what happened.

How long does NDPC take to respond to a complaint?

The GAID says the Commission acknowledges a complaint within 7 days and gives the company 21 days to reply, then communicates its decision within 7 days.

Can NDPC make a loan app pay me compensation?

Section 48 of the NDPA allows the Commission to order compensation to a data subject who suffered injury, loss or harm, among other remedies.

Do I need to complain to the loan app before NDPC?

No. Under GAID Article 40, a grievance notice to the company is not a precondition, though sending one helps your evidence.
