Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Raenest virtual dollar card: fees, limits and where it works

The Raenest virtual USD card: $3 to create, $0.70 per transaction, KYC-based limits up to $20,000 a day, and where Visa acceptance applies.

The short answer

The Raenest virtual dollar card is a USD Visa card issued by Rain, a Visa Principal Member, which costs a one-off $3 to create and a flat $0.70 per transaction, with no funding fee because it draws on your Raenest balances. Daily limits rise with your verification level, up to $20,000 at KYC Level 5, according to Raenest's August 2026 card post, and it works wherever Visa is accepted online, in apps and through Apple Pay or Google Pay in supported countries.

Many Nigerians need a card that pays in dollars for subscriptions, software, travel bookings and online shopping. Raenest's virtual card is one option. This guide sets out its costs, limits and acceptance from Raenest's cards page and its card post dated 10 August 2026.

What the card is

Type
Virtual USD card; a physical card can be requested and is delivered after the request is processed.
Network and issuer
Visa. Raenest says it is "a standalone payment card issued by Rain, a Visa Principal Member", and the August 2026 post says it was upgraded to Visa Platinum.
Who can get it
"Anyone with a verified Raenest account" can create one in the app.
Funding
No separate top-up. The card debits the first of your balances with enough funds, in a priority order you set. Balances can be held in NGN, USD, GBP, EUR, USDT or USDC.

Fees

ChargeAmountSource
Card creation$3, one-offRaenest card post, 10 Aug 2026
Per transaction$0.70 flatRaenest card post, 10 Aug 2026
Card fundingNone, because it spends from your balancesRaenest card post, 10 Aug 2026

When the card spends from a naira or other non-USD balance, a conversion takes place at the rate Raenest shows. The post does not give a separate figure for that conversion on card spends, so look at the transaction details in the app.

Worked example

Example only. In your first month you create the card and make ten payments. Cost: $3 + (10 × $0.70) = $10. In later months the same ten payments cost $7. For a $20 subscription, the $0.70 fee is 3.5% of the payment; on a $100 purchase it is 0.7%. A flat fee bears hardest on small, frequent payments, so a single annual subscription can cost less in fees than twelve monthly ones.

Limits

Raenest says card limits increase as you upgrade your KYC level, with a maximum daily limit of $20,000 at KYC Level 5. Within your allowed limit you can set your own daily, weekly or monthly spending caps, and freeze or terminate the card at any time. After three consecutive failed charge attempts the card freezes itself, which is meant to stop repeated declined charges.

Where it works

  • Online wherever Visa is accepted; Raenest cites more than 150 million merchants and names examples such as app stores, Spotify and Amazon.
  • Subscriptions, travel platforms and online stores.
  • In person by tapping through Apple Pay or Google Pay, in countries where Raenest supports that.
  • Payments are protected with 3D Secure; one-time codes come by email and push notification.

The August 2026 post also lists Visa Platinum protections, such as price protection, purchase protection and extended warranty, each with its own conditions and caps. Read Visa's terms before relying on them.

Common reasons a payment fails

Raenest's help centre has an article on possible reasons for card transaction failure. The usual causes for any virtual card are an empty or wrongly ordered balance, a limit reached, a merchant that does not accept virtual or foreign cards, or a billing address mismatch. Check balance priority first.

How to create the card

  1. Log in and tap Cards.
  2. Tap Create Card and name it.
  3. Set the order in which balances should pay.
  4. Pay the $3 creation fee and start using it.

Virtual or physical card?

The virtual card is created in the app and can be used at once online, or added to Apple Pay or Google Pay where supported. Raenest's cards page says a physical card is also available and is delivered after your request is processed; it does not give the physical card's fee or delivery time on the page we checked, so look in the app before ordering. For most subscription and online spending, the virtual card is enough. A physical card helps where a merchant needs a card to be presented, or where phone wallets are not accepted.

Using the card safely

  • Set a monthly limit close to what you actually spend, so a leaked card number cannot be drained.
  • Put a balance with only the money you need at the top of the payment order.
  • Freeze the card when you are not using it for a while, and unfreeze it before a known charge.
  • Never share the one-time code sent by email or push notification; Raenest staff do not need it.
  • Cancel free trials before they convert, because a declined renewal can count towards the three failed attempts that freeze the card.
  • Check statements monthly and keep receipts for business spending.

If you hold dollars mainly to spend online, it may help to read saving in dollars in Nigeria on the difference between a spending balance and savings.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme accounts hold USD, GBP, EUR and NGN with local details, and you choose when to convert with Swap. Account protection uses an authenticator app and transaction PIN, described on security. For the full Raenest cost picture see Raenest fees.
