Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Photography and videography contract template for Nigeria

A copyable shoot contract for Nigerian photographers and videographers: deposit, delivery timeline, image rights, and what happens if the event moves.

The short answer

A photography or videography contract should fix the package and price, the deposit and when the balance is due, the delivery date and format, who owns and may use the images, and what happens if the event is postponed or cancelled. Under section 28 of the Copyright Act 2022 the photographer owns the copyright unless a written agreement says otherwise, while a client who commissions photos for private use gets a non-exclusive licence to use them non-commercially.

Weddings, burials, birthdays, product shoots and corporate events keep Nigerian photographers and videographers busy, and most disputes are predictable: the date moved, the client wants all raw files, the album is late, or a brand used wedding photos in an advert without asking. A clear contract sorts these out before the shoot.

Who owns the photos

Under the Copyright Act 2022, as explained by Olisa Agbakoba Legal in July 2026, copyright in a photograph belongs to the photographer unless a written agreement says otherwise (section 28). A person who commissions a photograph for private use has a non-exclusive licence to use it for non-commercial purposes and can restrain its public publication (section 28(3)). The photographer also has moral rights, including attribution and integrity, which the article notes cannot be signed away during the author’s lifetime (section 14).

In practice that means three things for your contract:

  • Say who owns copyright. Most photographers keep it and grant the client a licence.
  • Say what the client may do: personal use, social media, printing, and whether commercial use (adverts, packaging, magazine sales) needs a separate fee.
  • Say what the photographer may do: portfolio and social media use, and whether the client can opt out, which matters for private family events.

Deposit, balance and postponement

Deposits secure the date and cover early costs. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA), as summarised by Mondaq, lets consumers cancel advance bookings, with any cancellation fee allowed only if it is fair and not excessive. It also expects services to be performed on time and to a good standard, with a refund of a reasonable portion of the price if they are not. A clause that keeps every naira whatever happens is risky when the client is a consumer.

Worked example (illustrative figures)

StageWhenAmount
Package: 10 hours, two photographers, highlight video, 40-page album₦600,000
Deposit to secure the date (50%)On signing₦300,000
Balance7 days before the event₦300,000
Extra hour, if requested on the dayWith final delivery₦40,000 per hour (example rate)

If the couple postpone with 60 days’ notice, a fair clause might move the deposit to the new date once, within six months. If they cancel 10 days before, you might keep the part of the deposit that covers costs you cannot recover and the date you turned others away for, and explain the figure.

What to check before the shoot

  1. Is the deposit received and receipted?
  2. Has the client confirmed the timeline and venue changes in writing?
  3. Are second-shooter and editor agreements in place, assigning their work to you?
  4. Is the balance due date in your calendar, with a reminder?
  5. Do you have permission to photograph at the venue, and any fee for that?

For corporate clients, the same structure works, but specify usage rights in more detail; see the event vendor contract template and our guide to milestone billing.

Where Pryme fits

Photographers can collect deposits and balances into a Pryme Business Account through bank-transfer checkout (free) or an invoice, and issue a verifiable receipt through Pryme’s partnership with VerifyDoc.ai so the client can confirm the payment record is genuine; see receipts.

Questions people ask

Who owns wedding photos in Nigeria, the couple or the photographer?

Under section 28 of the Copyright Act 2022 the photographer owns copyright unless a written agreement says otherwise. A couple who commissioned the photos for private use have a non-exclusive licence to use them non-commercially.

Is a photography deposit refundable in Nigeria?

It depends on your contract and the circumstances. For consumer bookings, the FCCPA allows cancellation fees only if they are fair and not excessive, so keep only what reflects real costs and lost bookings.

How long should a photographer take to deliver pictures?

There is no legal deadline; the contract sets it. State separate timelines for the gallery, video and album, and notify the client promptly if there is a delay.

Can a client use my photos for advertising?

Not under a private-use licence. Commercial use should need your written permission and, usually, a separate fee.
