Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

PalmPay POS machine: price, requirements and how to apply

What a PalmPay terminal costs depends on the offer at the time. The documents you need, how to apply, and the questions to ask before you pay.

The short answer

PalmPay issues POS terminals to agents and merchants who register through the PalmPay Business app and pass identity checks. PalmPay does not publish a current terminal price or caution fee on any official page we could open in October 2026; the amount, and whether it is a purchase or refundable deposit, is stated by PalmPay when you apply, so get it in writing before paying.

What you are actually paying for

A PalmPay POS terminal comes to agents in one of a few ways, and the word "price" means something different in each. Before comparing numbers, find out which of these you are being offered:

  • Outright purchase. You pay once and the terminal is yours. Repairs after the warranty are your cost.
  • Caution fee or deposit. You pay an amount that is held while you use the terminal and may be refundable when you return it, often subject to conditions.
  • Performance-based or free terminal. The terminal is issued without upfront payment, but you agree to minimum transaction volumes, and it can be withdrawn if you fall below them.

Prices quoted on blogs and social media for PalmPay terminals are not PalmPay documents and change with promotions and terminal models. We found no official PalmPay page stating a current figure in October 2026, so we are not printing one.

Requirements

PalmPay agents sign up through the PalmPay Business app. Expect to provide:

  • A verified PalmPay account linked to your BVN or NIN, following the CBN's tightened checks on identity since December 2023.
  • A valid government ID.
  • Your shop or stand address, and sometimes photos of the location.
  • For a registered business, your CAC registration details.
  • A phone number in your name for one-time codes and alerts.

Some offers also require a minimum wallet balance or an agreement to a monthly transaction target. Ask directly.

Steps to apply

  1. Download PalmPay Business from Google Play or the App Store, checking that the publisher is PalmPay.
  2. Register and complete identity verification.
  3. Find the POS or terminal request option and select the terminal type offered.
  4. Read the terms on screen: price or caution fee, refund conditions, transaction targets, and what happens if the terminal is lost or damaged.
  5. Pay only through the app or to an account in PalmPay's name, never to an individual's personal account.
  6. Arrange delivery or pick-up, then activate the terminal against your agent account before your first customer.

Terminal types and what changes between them

Agents usually choose between a traditional terminal with a built-in printer and an Android smart terminal that runs apps and prints receipts. The choice affects more than the upfront figure:

  • Battery and network. Terminals run on a SIM data connection; a weak signal at your stand means failed or slow transactions whatever model you choose.
  • Receipts. Printed receipts settle arguments at the counter. Budget for paper rolls.
  • Extra services. Smart terminals can often sell airtime, pay bills and take transfers, which adds commission income.
  • Replacement cost. A more expensive model costs more to replace if it is stolen and the terms make you liable.

Ask PalmPay which models are available in your area; stock varies by state.

Questions to ask before you pay

QuestionWhy it matters
Is this a purchase or a refundable deposit?Decides whether you get money back on return
Is there a monthly transaction target?Missing it can lead to the terminal being recalled
Who pays for repairs and paper rolls?Running costs add up
What is the charge per transaction?Your margin depends on it; see our guide to PalmPay POS charges
What happens if it is stolen? Some terms charge the replacement cost to the agent

The charge you pay on each withdrawal matters more over a year than the terminal price. Our article on PalmPay POS charges and agent commission shows how to work out your margin.

Worked example: deposit against monthly margin

All figures are examples. Suppose an offer asks a ₦30,000 refundable caution fee (example). You expect 15 withdrawals a day for 26 days, with an average margin after charges of ₦80 per withdrawal (example).

  • Withdrawals per month: 15 × 26 = 390
  • Example margin: 390 × ₦80 = ₦31,200 a month
  • Months for margin to equal the caution fee: about one

If the same offer had a monthly target of 500 transactions and your realistic volume is 390, you risk losing the terminal. Volume, not price, is often the deciding factor. Be realistic about footfall before you sign.

Avoiding terminal scams

Fraudsters sell "PalmPay POS" on social media at a discount and ask for payment into a personal account, then disappear or deliver a terminal registered to someone else. A terminal tied to another agent's account settles money into their wallet, not yours. Order through the app, pay PalmPay directly and confirm the terminal shows your agent name on activation. See POS fraud in Nigeria for the wider risks, and PalmPay agent registration for the sign-up itself.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not sell terminals. A business in a supported sector, such as a pharmacy, salon or eatery, with a Pryme Business Account can join Spaces and take payment from customers by bank transfer instead.

Questions people ask

How much is PalmPay POS machine now?

PalmPay states the price or caution fee when you apply in the PalmPay Business app. We could not find a current official figure on its public pages in October 2026, and blog prices vary, so get the amount in writing before paying.

Is PalmPay POS free?

Some offers issue terminals without upfront payment in exchange for transaction targets. Ask whether the terminal can be recalled if you miss them.

What do I need to get a PalmPay POS?

A verified PalmPay account with BVN or NIN, a valid ID, your business location and, for registered businesses, CAC details. PalmPay may ask for more.

How long does it take to get a PalmPay POS?

It depends on stock and your location. PalmPay gives timelines during the application; activate the terminal against your own account before use.
