Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to get a PalmPay POS terminal

How PalmPay POS applications have been described, what PalmPay publishes about terminal prices (very little), and what to confirm first.

The short answer

PalmPay POS terminals are requested through PalmPay's merchant sign-up, where you give personal and business details and a settlement account, then wait for review. As at October 2026 we could not find a terminal price, caution fee or agent commission on any PalmPay page we could open, so get the current price from PalmPay's POS support or an accredited PalmPay sales officer, in writing, before paying.

Who PalmPay is

PalmPay Limited describes itself in its Google Play listing (updated 24 September 2026) as 'fully licensed and regulated as a Mobile Money Operator by the Central Bank of Nigeria', and says deposits on PalmPay are insured by the NDIC. As a mobile money operator it can act as a principal for agents under the CBN's agent banking rules. A BusinessDay report from July 2023 put PalmPay's agent network at about 500,000, which gives a sense of how common its terminals are, though that figure is now more than three years old.

How the application works

PalmPay's website did not show readable text without JavaScript when we checked in October 2026, so the most detailed step-by-step account we found is a December 2022 how-to from The Fintech Africa. Treat it as a guide to the shape of the process, not current policy:

  1. Go to PalmPay's website and open the merchant section, then choose to sign up.
  2. Enter your name, email, phone number and a password.
  3. Give business details: business name, address and type of business.
  4. Choose the device type you want.
  5. Provide the bank account into which transaction funds should go.
  6. Accept the terms and submit, then wait for review and a confirmation with set-up instructions.

That article lists being at least 18, a valid ID such as a driver's licence or passport, internet access and a physical address as requirements. A separate sponsored TechCabal piece on PalmPay Business says the business app is mobile-only, with sign-up via palmpay.com, and gives a POS support address, possupport@palmpay.com, and the number 01 889 0982. Confirm these contacts in the app before relying on them.

What the CBN requires on top

Whatever PalmPay's form asks, the CBN's October 2025 agent banking guidelines require every principal to collect certain things from agents and to set up terminals in a particular way:

  • BVN and NIN for an individual agent, a verified physical address and evidence of funds to operate;
  • a CAC certificate or business name registration for non-individual agents;
  • GPS capture of your location at onboarding, and a device geo-fenced or tagged to your registered premises;
  • a terminal linked only to your dedicated agent account or wallet with the principal;
  • clear display of PalmPay's name and logo, your appointment letter, the services you offer, the charges, and PalmPay's dedicated phone numbers.

Techpoint Africa reported in August 2025 that the CBN told operators, PalmPay included, to geo-tag all PoS terminals within 60 days and that merchants would only be able to process payments within a 10-metre radius of their registered address. So the address you give on the form matters: it is where the terminal will work.

Terminal price: what we could and could not confirm

ItemWhat we found (Oct 2026)
Terminal priceNot published on any PalmPay page we could open
Caution or refundable depositNot published
Agent commission per transactionNot published
Fee PalmPay deducts per withdrawalNot published; BusinessDay (Jul 2023) reported PalmPay began charging after a free period, without giving the rate
Settlement accountYou nominate it at sign-up, per the 2022 how-to

Third-party blogs quote prices for PalmPay terminals, but we found none that cited PalmPay itself, so we do not repeat them. Ask the sales officer for an invoice or in-app payment request that names PalmPay, and do not pay cash or transfer to a personal account for a terminal.

Running the terminal once it arrives

The first weeks decide whether the terminal pays for itself. Three practical points follow from the CBN rules and from how PalmPay terminals are used in the field:

  • Your float lives in your PalmPay agent wallet, and the CBN guidelines require the terminal to be linked only to that dedicated wallet. Do not mix it with your personal PalmPay account.
  • Withdrawals are capped at ₦100,000 per customer per day and ₦1.2 million in total per agent per day under the October 2025 guidelines, so a busy stand can hit the ceiling on market days.
  • Paper rolls are a running cost. BusinessDay reported in July 2023 that a pack of ten rolls had risen from ₦1,200 to ₦2,000; check what your supplier charges today.

If something goes wrong with a transaction, use the in-app dispute route. Nairametrics reported in September 2026 that PalmPay's app has a Dispute Page for submitting and tracking disputes; ask your sales officer to show you where it is during set-up.

What to check first

  • The exact device price, whether it is a sale or a lease, and whether any part is refundable if you return it.
  • The fee PalmPay deducts on withdrawals and transfers, and the commission it pays on bills and airtime.
  • Whether you already hold another principal's terminal: the CBN's 2025 guidelines say agents must be exclusive to one principal.
  • That your shop address is fixed, since the terminal will be tagged to it.

Once you have the figures, plug them into our start-up cost breakdown and daily profit example. To compare PalmPay with a bank network, see fintech agent or bank agent, and for protecting the terminal once it arrives, POS agent fraud and the customer-side guide to POS fraud in Nigeria.

Questions people ask

How much is a PalmPay POS machine?

PalmPay does not publish a terminal price on any page we could open in October 2026. Ask PalmPay POS support or an accredited sales officer for the current price in writing.

What are the requirements for PalmPay POS?

A 2022 guide lists being 18 or over, a valid ID, contact details, a business address and a settlement account. CBN rules add BVN, NIN and GPS capture of your location.

Can I use a PalmPay POS anywhere?

No. Since the CBN's 2025 geo-tagging directive, terminals are tied to a registered address and, as reported, may only process payments within about 10 metres of it.

Is PalmPay licensed by the CBN?

PalmPay's Google Play listing says it is licensed and regulated by the CBN as a mobile money operator and that deposits are NDIC-insured.
