Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

PalmPay Fixed Savings: terms and what early withdrawal costs

PalmPay lists Fixed Savings but publishes few terms online. How to read the tenor and early-exit rules in the app, with a costed example.

The short answer

PalmPay offers Fixed Savings alongside CashBox, SmartEarn, Target Savings and Spend and Save, but it does not publish the tenors, rates or early-withdrawal rule for Fixed Savings on its official listings. The plan's terms in the app are the only authoritative source. Among comparable apps, breaking a fixed plan usually forfeits interest earned so far, so work out that cost before you commit.

What PalmPay has said about Fixed Savings

PalmPay's public material is light on detail. A TechCabal feature on PalmPay Business lists Fixed Savings among PalmPay's savings tools, together with Cash Box, Smart Earn, Spend & Save and Target Savings. TechCabal's November 2025 savings comparison described PalmPay's Target Savings as paying out at maturity. Neither source, and neither of PalmPay's app store listings, sets out the Fixed Savings tenors, minimum, rate or early-exit rule.

PalmPay is licensed by the CBN as a mobile money operator, per its Google Play listing, which also says every deposit on PalmPay is NDIC-insured. For what that cover means, see who holds PalmPay savings money.

The terms that decide your cost

Before you put money into any fixed plan, four terms decide what an early exit would cost. Look for each on PalmPay's Fixed Savings setup screen.

Tenor
How long the money is locked: days or months. Longer usually pays more.
Interest timing
Paid upfront, monthly or at maturity. Upfront interest is often recovered if you break early.
Break rule
Whether you can withdraw early at all, and if so what you lose: some interest, all interest, or interest plus a fee.
Partial withdrawal
Whether you can take part of the money out and leave the rest running.

How comparable apps price an early exit

These are other providers' own stated rules, checked in October 2026, to show the range. They are not PalmPay's terms.

Provider and planEarly exitSource
Kuda Fixed SavingsAllowed after 24 hours; you receive your principal only and the plan is deletedKuda Help, Feb 2025
Moniepoint FixedAllowed; interest is forfeited; tenors 1, 3, 6 or 12 monthsMoniepoint Support
Moniepoint TargetUp to 50% partial withdrawal, losing interest on that partMoniepoint Support

The usual pattern is that principal is safe and interest is the price of leaving. A plan that charges a fee on the principal as well would cost more, so look for any percentage charge on the break screen.

Worked example (example only)

Example only, with an invented rate of 16% a year and interest at maturity. Obinna fixes ₦500,000 for 270 days.

  • Interest at maturity: ₦500,000 × 16% × 270 ÷ 365 = ₦59,178 (rounded).
  • If he breaks the plan on day 90 and the rule forfeits all interest, he receives ₦500,000. The interest he had built up by then was ₦500,000 × 16% × 90 ÷ 365 = ₦19,726.
  • If the rule also took a 1% fee on the principal, he would receive ₦495,000, a loss of ₦5,000 of his own money on top of the interest.

A useful comparison: had he kept ₦100,000 in a flexible wallet and fixed only ₦400,000, a small emergency could have been met without breaking the plan. The cost of that buffer is the lower rate on ₦100,000, which at an example gap of 4 percentage points is about ₦100,000 × 4% × 270 ÷ 365 = ₦2,959 over the term.

Upfront interest: the trap to watch

Some fixed plans in Nigerian apps pay interest at the start rather than at the end. It feels generous: you lock ₦500,000 and see the interest arrive the same day. But if you break such a plan early, the provider usually recovers the interest it paid you, and if you have already spent it, the shortfall comes out of your principal. PiggyVest's FAQ, for example, says its upfront-interest Safelocks can only be released at maturity. If PalmPay's Fixed Savings screen offers an upfront option, read the break rule for that option separately; it may differ from the at-maturity version.

When interest is paid at maturity instead, the arithmetic is simpler. The interest is never in your hands until the end, so breaking the plan costs you the interest built up and nothing more, unless a fee applies.

Steps before you fix money with PalmPay

  1. Open PalmPay's savings section and choose Fixed Savings.
  2. Write down each tenor offered and its rate.
  3. Open the terms link and find the early-withdrawal or termination clause.
  4. Check when interest is paid and whether upfront interest is clawed back if you break.
  5. Keep a flexible buffer in CashBox or your main wallet for emergencies.
  6. Screenshot the confirmation for your records before you confirm.

A last check concerns what happens at maturity. Some apps roll a matured fixed plan into a new one at whatever rate applies that day unless you opt out; others return the money to your balance. If PalmPay's screen offers an automatic renewal, decide in advance whether you want it, because a renewal you did not intend could lock your money again just when you planned to use it.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme's naira Savings Boxes include a Fixed Box, with the rate and terms shown in the app before you commit. Read our guide to fixed deposits versus savings accounts to decide how much to lock away.

Questions people ask

Can I break PalmPay fixed savings?

PalmPay does not publish its early-withdrawal rule on its official listings. The terms on the Fixed Savings setup screen in the app state whether you can break the plan and what it costs.

How long can I fix money on PalmPay?

PalmPay's tenors are shown in the app when you create a plan. They are not published on its app store listings.

Does PalmPay Fixed Savings pay interest upfront?

PalmPay's public pages do not say. Check the plan details in the app; if interest is paid upfront, breaking early may mean it is taken back.

Is PalmPay fixed savings insured?

PalmPay says every deposit on PalmPay is NDIC-insured. Ask PalmPay how Fixed Savings balances are held to confirm which cover applies.
