Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Nigeria Eurobond yields today: where to check

Where to find today's Nigerian Eurobond prices and yields, how the DMO's table is laid out, and how to read price, yield and coupon together.

The short answer

The Debt Management Office publishes Nigeria's Eurobond closing prices and yields on its website, using Bloomberg data, for each of the government's dollar bonds. For a price you can actually deal at, ask a bank or broker for a live quote, because published yields are end-of-day indications and move every trading day.

Where the figures are published

This page does not print a yield, because the number changes daily and a stale figure would mislead. Instead it tells you where the current one is shown and how to read it.

  • DMO website: under FGN Bonds, the Eurobonds Trading section carries a table titled 'Nigeria's Eurobonds closing prices and yields' for a stated date. The table credits Bloomberg as its source.
  • Bloomberg and other market data terminals: the original source, used by banks and fund managers; full access is by subscription.
  • Your bank's wealth or treasury desk, or a broker: gives a dealing quote, the price at which it will buy or sell to you now.
  • Fund managers' factsheets: dollar funds that hold Eurobonds report their own yield, which reflects the whole portfolio and fees.

How the DMO table is laid out

Each table we checked lists every Nigerian Eurobond in issue with:

Bond name
Coupon, issue size and maturity, for example a bond due in November 2027 or September 2051.
Price (US$)
The closing price per 100 of face value. Above 100 means the bond trades at a premium.
Yield (%)
The return you would earn if you bought at that price and held to maturity, with all coupons paid.
Yield at issue (%)
The coupon rate the bond was sold with.

The table for 4 September 2026 covered 15 bonds maturing between 2027 and 2051. It does not show a daily change column, so to see direction compare two dates yourself.

Reading price, yield and coupon together

The coupon never changes after issue; price and yield move in opposite directions. If investors demand more return from Nigeria, prices fall and yields rise. If confidence improves, prices rise and yields fall. A bond with a high coupon trades above 100 when market yields are below that coupon, so its yield is lower than its coupon. This is why the 'yield' column, not the coupon, is the figure to compare with other investments.

Using the table well

  1. Note the date at the top. A table from last month is history, not today's market.
  2. Pick the maturity that matches how long you can leave the money.
  3. Compare the yield across maturities: longer bonds usually yield more, which is the dollar yield curve.
  4. Ask your bank for a dealing quote on that bond and compare it with the published yield. The difference is roughly the dealer's spread and fees.

Why your quote differs from the published yield

  • Timing: the DMO table is a closing figure for a specific day.
  • Spread: dealers buy at a lower price than they sell; small trades get wider spreads.
  • Accrued interest: you pay the interest built up since the last coupon on top of the price.
  • Fees: commission and custody charges reduce your return.

For a fair comparison, ask the dealer for the yield on its quote as well as the price. If its yield is well below the DMO's closing figure for the same bond and date, ask why. A gap of a few hundredths of a point is normal; a gap of a full point on a liquid bond is worth questioning.

What the yield tells a saver

Eurobond yields are a measure of what international investors charge Nigeria to borrow in dollars. When they fall, Nigeria can borrow more cheaply and existing bondholders gain on price. For someone holding dollars, the yield on a short-dated Nigerian Eurobond is a reference point when judging any dollar savings product: a product offering far more than the government's own dollar yield is taking more risk somewhere, and you should ask where.

For the bigger picture see Nigeria's yield curve explained, why bond prices fall when yields rise and diaspora investment options.

Example: reading one row

Example with made-up figures, to show the method: suppose a row reads coupon 8%, price 104, yield 7.2%. The bond pays 8 dollars a year for every 100 of face value. A buyer today pays 104, and because only 100 is repaid at maturity, the 4 extra dollars are lost over the bond's life. Spread over the years left, that brings the return down to 7.2%. If the next day's table shows a price of 102 and a yield of 7.5%, the market has demanded more return and the bond has lost value for anyone holding it.

A different dollar bond: the domestic issue

Do not confuse the Eurobonds in the DMO table with the domestic FGN US dollar bond. The DMO's August 2024 FAQ describes that bond as issued in Nigeria, listed on NGX and FMDQ and tradable, with a minimum of US$10,000. Its prices are quoted on the local exchanges, not in the Eurobond table, and the DMO says Eurobonds typically trade in much larger lots of about US$200,000.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not quote Eurobonds. Dollars you receive into a Pryme multicurrency account stay in dollars until you choose to Swap, with the rate and fee shown first.

Questions people ask

Where can I check Nigeria Eurobond yields today?

On the DMO website's Eurobonds Trading section, which posts closing prices and yields from Bloomberg, and from your bank or broker for a live dealing quote.

What does Eurobond yield mean?

The annual return you would earn buying at today's price and holding to maturity. It moves opposite to the price; the coupon stays fixed.

Why is the Eurobond yield lower than the coupon?

Because the bond trades above face value. You pay more than 100 to receive the coupon, so your return is lower than the coupon rate.

Do Eurobond yields change daily?

Yes. They move every trading day with demand for Nigerian debt and global interest rates.
