Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

MTN international roaming: how to activate and what it costs

MTN TravelPass plans and codes, what happens when a bundle runs out, where MTN publishes pay-as-you-go roaming rates, and how to avoid bill shock abroad.

The short answer

MTN's main roaming product is TravelPass, a bundle you buy by dialling *312*6#, through the myMTN app or Zigi, covering calls, SMS and data in 50+ countries on selected networks. As at October 2026, MTN listed seven plans from ₦5,000 for one day (up to 10 minutes or 20 SMS plus 250MB) to ₦80,000 for 10GB over 30 days; once a plan is used up, MTN charges standard roaming rates from your airtime.

Taking your MTN line abroad keeps you reachable on the number your family, bank and clients know. It can also produce an unpleasant bill if you use it without a bundle. This guide explains MTN Nigeria's TravelPass, as described on MTN's roaming page and TravelPass FAQ in October 2026, and how to keep costs under control.

TravelPass plans (as listed October 2026)

PlanPriceWhat you getValidityUSSD
1-day voice + data₦5,000Up to 10 mins or 20 SMS + 250MB1 day*312*533#
7-day voice₦10,000Up to 50 mins or 100 SMS7 days*312*501#
7-day data₦10,0001GB7 days*312*503#
14-day voice + data₦20,000Up to 75 mins or 150 SMS + 1GB14 days*312*502#
30-day data₦40,0005GB30 days*312*534#
30-day voice + data₦40,000Up to 100 mins or 200 SMS + 3GB30 days*312*536#
30-day data₦80,00010GB30 days*312*535#

You can also dial *312*6# and pick from the menu, or buy in the myMTN app or through Zigi. MTN says both prepaid and postpaid customers can subscribe, in Nigeria or in an eligible country, and can buy TravelPass for family and friends. Prices change; check the menu before you travel.

How to activate before you fly

  1. Check your destination is on MTN's eligible list. MTN's roaming page listed more than 50 countries in October 2026, including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, South Africa, China and India.
  2. Note which partner networks are covered; TravelPass works on selected networks only. MTN's FAQ lists them by country.
  3. Load enough airtime to buy the plan and leave a buffer.
  4. Buy the plan with *312*6# or its direct code. You can buy before departure or on arrival.
  5. If you are going to the US, UK, Australia or some European countries, make sure your phone supports VoLTE. MTN says voice calls in those places need it.
  6. On arrival, select a covered partner network if your phone does not do so automatically.

What the plan covers

  • Calls to local numbers in the country you are visiting and calls to Nigeria.
  • Incoming calls from that country and from Nigeria. MTN says incoming minutes are capped at 20% of the allocated voice minutes in some destinations.
  • One plan works across several eligible countries within its validity.
  • Calls to or from third countries outside TravelPass are charged at standard rates.

When the bundle runs out

MTN's FAQ says that once minutes or data are exhausted or expired, usage is charged from your main account (or postpaid credit limit) at standard roaming rates. MTN publishes pay-as-you-go roaming rates and international call rates on separate pages of its website, linked from the roaming page. MTN says you will get SMS alerts at 50% and 80% use and when the plan is exhausted, plus an end-of-call notice.

MTN also allows a rollover: unused benefits carry over if you buy another plan within 1 day (24-hour plan), 3 days (7-day), 5 days (14-day) or 7 days (30-day). Check balance and validity with *310# or *312*6*7#.

Worked example (October 2026 listed prices)

A two-week trip to London where you mainly need WhatsApp and maps: two 7-day data plans at ₦10,000 each give 2GB for ₦20,000. The 14-day voice + data plan, also ₦20,000, gives 1GB plus up to 75 minutes or 150 SMS. If you expect calls from Nigeria, the 14-day plan covers both for the same money; if data is all you need, the two 7-day data plans give twice the data.

Avoiding bill shock

  • Turn off data roaming in your phone settings until a plan is active.
  • Do not leave large airtime balances on the line; out-of-bundle use draws from it.
  • Switch off automatic app updates and cloud photo backup while roaming.
  • For long stays, consider a local SIM or eSIM for data and keep MTN for calls and SMS.
  • For stays abroad of several months, MTN's Keep My Number service (₦3,500 for a year as listed in October 2026, via *365#) stops a prepaid number being recycled while you are away.

If your MTN line is on eSIM, adding a local line is simpler; see getting an MTN eSIM.

Before you leave Nigeria

Two checks save trouble later. Make sure your line is registered and linked to your NIN with *996#, because replacing a SIM from abroad needs a proxy and an affidavit under MTN's SIM swap rules. And make sure you know your PIN and PUK, kept separately from the phone.

If you are travelling with children or older relatives on MTN lines, buy their TravelPass too: MTN says you can buy plans for family and friends wherever you and they are.

Where Pryme fits

Roaming covers your phone; spending abroad is a separate question. A Pryme account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR, with Swap converting only when you choose and showing the rate first (multicurrency, Swap).

Questions people ask

How do I activate MTN roaming?

Dial *312*6# and choose a TravelPass plan, or use the myMTN app or Zigi. Make sure your destination and the network you connect to are on MTN's eligible list.

How much is MTN roaming per day?

As at October 2026, MTN's cheapest TravelPass was ₦5,000 for one day, with up to 10 minutes or 20 SMS plus 250MB. Check *312*6# for current prices.

Can I receive calls abroad with MTN?

Yes, on TravelPass you can receive calls from Nigeria and the country you are visiting, though MTN caps incoming minutes at 20% of your allowance in some destinations.

Why can't I make calls with MTN roaming in the UK or US?

MTN says voice calls in some destinations, including the USA, UK and Australia, need VoLTE. Check your phone supports it and that VoLTE is switched on.
