Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Banking how-tos

How to get a Moniepoint statement (personal and business)

Export a Moniepoint statement as PDF or Excel from the app, choose Standard or Extended, and what to do if you need a stamped copy.

The short answer

In the Moniepoint app, tap History beside your balance, tap the Export icon, choose Standard or Extended, pick a date range and a format (PDF or Excel), then tap Export. Moniepoint's help centre does not describe stamped statements, so ask support or your Business Relationship Manager if an embassy, landlord or lender insists on one.

You may need a Moniepoint statement for a visa, a tenancy, a loan, a tax return or simply to reconcile a month of sales. The app produces one in a few taps. The harder part is knowing which kind the person asking will accept.

Exporting a statement from the app

Moniepoint's help article "How do I download my statement of account?" (updated 9 February 2026) gives these steps:

  1. Log in to the Moniepoint app.
  2. Tap History beside your balance.
  3. Tap the Export icon.
  4. Choose the statement type: Standard or Extended.
  5. Pick the date range.
  6. Choose the format: Excel or PDF.
  7. Tap Export.

The help article names the two types but does not define how they differ. Export both for a short period and compare before you send a long one. For a lender or embassy, PDF is the usual choice; Excel is better for your own bookkeeping because you can sort and total columns.

Business accounts

Business owners have the same History export, and Moniepoint also documents viewing transactions from the Moniepoint web dashboard. If you need statements for several business profiles, export each separately so the account name on each statement matches the business being assessed.

Email delivery and stamped copies

The help pages we read in October 2026 do not describe emailing statements or issuing stamped and signed copies. That does not mean Moniepoint cannot do it; it means you should ask rather than assume. Business customers can ask their Business Relationship Manager (BRM), and Moniepoint's help centre explains how to find out who that is. Personal customers should ask support through the app.

Which kind of statement each purpose needs

PurposeWhat is usually askedPractical note
Personal bookkeepingAny exportExcel is easier to analyse
Loan applicationSeveral months, PDFSee statements for loan applications
Visa applicationRecent months, sometimes stampedCheck the embassy's checklist first
Tenancy or new employerA few monthsShare only what is needed; see sharing a statement safely
Tax returnThe full tax yearExport the whole period at once

Making sure the statement is trusted

A PDF exported from any app can be edited by someone determined to cheat, which is why many recipients now ask for proof they can confirm. Our explainer on stamped versus verifiable statements sets out the trade-offs. If you are the recipient, compare totals, check that the opening and closing balances follow from the transactions, and ask for a fresh export if anything looks off.

Worked example

Example only: a trader exports March, opening balance ₦180,000, credits ₦940,000, debits ₦875,000. The closing balance should read ₦245,000 (₦180,000 plus ₦940,000 minus ₦875,000). If it does not, something in the document has changed or a period is missing.

Reading your Moniepoint statement

Before you send a statement, read it as the recipient will. Check that the account name and number are right and the period covers what was asked for. A few recurring lines puzzle people:

  • SMS charges. Moniepoint says each SMS alert costs ₦6 and charges are billed monthly as a summary, deducted at the start of the next month.
  • Stamp duty. Moniepoint applies a ₦50 statutory charge on electronic transfers of ₦10,000 and above, except between two Moniepoint accounts owned by the same person with matching BVNs.
  • Reversals. A failed transfer and its reversal appear as two lines. Lenders sometimes ask about them, so be ready to explain.

How far back to export

Ask the recipient for the exact months they want. Sending a year when three months were requested exposes more of your spending than necessary, and sending too little means a second request. For a tax year, export from the first to the last day of that year in one file so nothing falls between two exports. For a business that changed from an unregistered to a registered account partway through the year, export each account and explain the switch in a short covering note.

If the export fails

Update the app first; Moniepoint's help centre has a guide for Android and iOS. Shorten the date range if a long period will not generate, and try the other format. If it still fails, contact support with a screenshot of the error.

Where Pryme fits

Through Pryme's partnership with VerifyDoc.ai, any Pryme customer can generate a regular or a verifiable statement or receipt, and anyone can verify that a verifiable one is genuine and unaltered. See verifiable receipts and statements.

Questions people ask

Can I download a Moniepoint statement as PDF?

Yes. In History, tap Export, choose Standard or Extended, set the date range and choose PDF or Excel.

How do I get a stamped Moniepoint statement?

The help centre does not describe stamped copies. Ask support in the app, or your Business Relationship Manager if you have a business account.

Can Moniepoint send my statement to my email?

The help article covers export from the app only. Ask support whether email delivery is available for your account.

Why is there a ₦50 charge on my Moniepoint statement?

Moniepoint applies a ₦50 stamp duty on electronic transfers of ₦10,000 and above, except between your own Moniepoint accounts with matching BVNs.
