Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

Loans and grants for people with disabilities in Nigeria

What support exists for disabled Nigerians who need finance: the 2018 Disability Act, NCPWD, state disability offices, lenders, and what to check.

The short answer

Nigeria has no single national loan product reserved for people with disabilities. The Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018 bars discrimination and created the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, a proposed Disability Trust Fund was still awaiting legislation as at May 2024, and most support comes from state disability offices' grants, NGOs and mainstream loans that disabled applicants are entitled to access on equal terms.

The Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018 was signed in January 2019. Human Rights Watch's summary at the time noted that it prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability, sets sanctions including fines and prison terms, provides a five-year transition period for making public buildings and vehicles accessible, and establishes the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), which receives complaints and helps people seek redress.

For borrowing, the practical meaning is this: a bank, microfinance bank or loan app may assess you on income, records and repayment capacity like anyone else, but it should not refuse you because you are disabled. If a branch is inaccessible, or staff insist on a procedure you cannot physically complete when an alternative exists, write down what happened and raise it first with the institution's complaints unit. You can also bring it to the NCPWD.

Grants and dedicated funds: what exists and what does not

National Disability Trust Fund

In May 2024 the NCPWD's Executive Secretary, Dr James David Lalu, urged the passage of an amendment to the Disability Act that would create a Disability Trust Fund. At that point the bill had passed first reading and the fund was not operating. We could not confirm that it has since been set up, so do not respond to anyone claiming to collect fees for 'disability trust fund loans'.

State disability offices

Several states run disability offices or commissions that announce grants, empowerment items and intervention funds from time to time. Lagos, for example, has the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA). Amounts, eligibility and timing change with each programme, so check the office's official channels and register with it; registration is often what puts you on the list when a programme opens.

Federal intervention schemes

Federal schemes such as Bank of Industry products or youth and women's funds are generally open to disabled applicants on the same terms as others. We did not find a current, dedicated disability product on official pages in October 2026. If you apply, use the official portal only; our guide to fake government loan websites shows what to avoid.

NGOs and disability associations

Disability associations and NGOs sometimes run savings groups, microcredit or start-up kits for members. These are small but come with training and peer support. Ask your local association what is open and what the repayment terms are.

Using mainstream loans

Most disabled Nigerians who borrow do so through the same channels as everyone else: salary loans, microfinance group loans, cooperatives and licensed digital lenders. A few points help:

  • Check any app on the FCCPC approvals list before applying; scams often target people who are told they qualify for special funds.
  • Ask the lender for documents in a format you can read, or for someone to read the offer to you, before you sign.
  • If you use a trusted helper, do not share your PIN or one-time codes with them; agree how you will approve each payment.
  • Compare total cost in naira, not just the rate.

Worked example: grant plus small loan

A tailor receives a ₦200,000 empowerment grant in kind (a sewing machine) and wants ₦100,000 for fabric stock. She borrows ₦100,000 from a cooperative at an example 2% a month flat over 6 months: interest ₦12,000, total ₦112,000, about ₦18,666.67 a month. If her extra monthly profit from the stock is around ₦35,000, the loan pays for itself; if she cannot show that, she should borrow less.

What to check first

  1. Is the programme on an official government or registered NGO channel?
  2. Is there any fee to apply? Genuine grant schemes do not ask you to pay to receive a grant.
  3. Is the lender licensed by the CBN or on the FCCPC approvals list?
  4. Do you understand the repayment date and the full naira cost?

Documents that help an application

Whether you apply for a state grant, an NGO programme or a cooperative loan, having these ready speeds things up:

  • Registration with your state disability office or commission, where one exists.
  • Membership card or letter from your disability association.
  • Valid ID, BVN and a bank account in your own name.
  • A short business plan or cost list if the support is for a trade: what you will buy, what it costs, and what it will earn.
  • Bank statements showing your income, if you are applying for a loan.

Keep copies of everything you submit and a record of who received it and when.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme's Personal Assistant can be set up with the voice and name you choose and prepares payments, reminders and savings for you to approve, which some customers find helpful for managing money independently. See the Personal Assistant and how approvals and PINs protect your account.

Questions people ask

Is there a loan for disabled persons in Nigeria?

There is no single national product. Support comes from state disability offices, NGOs and mainstream lenders, which should not discriminate on the basis of disability.

How do I get NCPWD grant?

The NCPWD's proposed Disability Trust Fund was not operating as at May 2024. Check NCPWD and your state disability office's official channels for current programmes.

Can a bank refuse me a loan because I am disabled?

The 2018 Disability Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. A lender can assess income and records, but not refuse you for being disabled.

Do I pay to apply for a disability grant?

No genuine grant asks for a fee to release money. Treat any such request as a scam.
