Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Kuda Spend+Save and Fixed savings: how interest works

How interest builds on Kuda's Spend+Save, Flexible and Fixed plans, when it is paid, the 10% tax, and where the current rate appears in the app.

The short answer

Kuda pays interest on its savings plans at rates that vary by plan and by account type, and shows the current rate in the app and on its help centre's savings page. Fixed Savings interest is paid at maturity after Kuda withholds 10% of the accrued interest as tax; Kuda's help centre describes premium Spend & Save interest as calculated daily and paid monthly, while its rates table lists the standard Spend+Save as earning no interest.

The Kuda savings products, in one place

Kuda's help centre groups its savings into several plans, and the way interest works differs between them. Its savings rates page, checked in October 2026, lists rates for Flexible savings, Fixed Savings and Locked Savings, with separate bands for standard and premium customers, and shows the "As You Want" pocket and Spend+Save as earning no interest. A separate help article describes Spend & Save for premium customers as earning interest calculated daily and paid monthly, with a cap on withdrawals. Because these figures change, we do not print them here; the app shows the rate that applies to you before you create a plan.

ProductHow interest works (Kuda's pages)When it is paid
Spend+Save (standard)Listed as no interestNot applicable
Spend & Save (premium)Calculated daily, with a limit on withdrawals each monthMonthly
Flexible savingsAnnual rate shown in the appCheck the plan details in the app
Fixed SavingsAnnual rate on a lump sum held to a set dateAt maturity, after 10% withholding tax
Locked SavingsHigher band than Fixed; no early exitAt maturity

How daily accrual works, with an example

Where interest is calculated daily, the app works out one day's interest on that day's balance, using the annual rate divided by 365, and adds the days together until the payout date. A balance that rises mid-month earns more for the days after it rises.

Worked example (example only)

Example only, using an invented rate of 8% a year and a steady balance. Tunde keeps ₦150,000 in a plan with daily accrual and monthly payout.

  • One day's interest: ₦150,000 × 8% ÷ 365 = ₦32.88.
  • Over a 30-day month: ₦32.88 × 30 = ₦986.40 (₦986.30 if you do not round each day first).
  • If 10% withholding tax applies to that interest, about ₦98.63 is withheld and roughly ₦887.67 is paid to him.

If Tunde's balance had been ₦150,000 for 15 days and ₦250,000 for the next 15, the month's interest would be (₦150,000 + ₦250,000) × 8% × 15 ÷ 365 = ₦1,315.07 before tax. Daily accrual rewards money that arrives early in the month.

Fixed Savings: interest at maturity

Kuda's Fixed Savings article says you save a lump sum and earn annual interest, and that "we will subtract 10% of your accrued interest as withholding tax before payout on your plan's maturity date". In other words, the interest builds up during the plan but is paid in one go when the plan ends. Break the plan early and you lose that accrued interest; our article on withdrawing early from Kuda Fixed savings covers the rule in detail.

The Spend+Save confusion

Many Kuda customers assume Spend+Save earns interest because the name sounds like a savings product. On Kuda's rates table, the standard Spend+Save is listed with no interest, so it works as a saving habit rather than an earning product. The interest-earning version described on a separate page is tied to the premium account and to a limit on monthly withdrawals; exceed the limit and that month's interest may not be paid. Check which version your account shows before counting on interest.

Why the advertised rate is not what you receive

Three things separate the headline rate from the money that reaches your account. First, withholding tax: Kuda deducts 10% of accrued interest, so an example 10% rate becomes 9% in your pocket. Second, timing: a rate quoted per year earns only a fraction of it over a short plan; a 90-day plan at an example 10% a year earns about 2.47% of the balance before tax (10% × 90 ÷ 365). Third, conditions: the premium Spend & Save interest depends on staying within the monthly withdrawal limit. When comparing Kuda with another app, line up all three, not just the headline figure.

Where to check the current rate

  1. In the Kuda app, open Save and tap the plan type. The rate is shown before you confirm a new plan.
  2. For a plan you already have, open it to see the rate and the accrued interest so far.
  3. On the web, Kuda's help centre savings article lists the current bands; check the date on the page.
  4. Compare with other apps using a dated source, and remember that the rate an app advertises is before tax.

For how a quoted rate compares with rising prices, read is your savings beating inflation?

One more practical point: interest on Kuda plans is credited to the plan or your Spend account as shown in the app, and it appears on your statement. Kuda's help centre says you can download a signed statement from Statements & Reports, choosing the Spend account, a Saving Pocket or both. That is the simplest way to check the interest you were paid across a year, for your own records or if a lender or embassy asks for evidence of savings.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme's naira Savings Boxes come in Flexible, Fixed, Investment and Interest-free versions, and each shows its rate in the app before you move money in. The Personal Assistant can set reminders for a maturity date; nothing moves without your approval.

Questions people ask

Kuda's savings rates table lists the standard Spend+Save as earning no interest. A separate Kuda help article describes premium Spend & Save interest as calculated daily and paid monthly, with a withdrawal limit.

At maturity. Kuda says it deducts 10% of the accrued interest as withholding tax before paying out on the maturity date.

Where can I see Kuda's savings interest rate?
