An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

If you have no meter, NERC limits how much energy Kaduna Electric can bill you. How the cap works, how to check your bill and how to claim a refund.
If you are an unmetered Kaduna Electric customer, NERC's order on capping estimated bills says you cannot be billed for more energy (kWh) than the cap set for your tariff class, and if your usual estimate is below the cap it stays there until you get a meter. Your maximum bill is that capped kWh figure multiplied by your band's tariff per kWh; ask Kaduna Electric for the cap that applies to your feeder and class, because it is revised from vending and supply data.
An estimated bill is a postpaid bill for a customer who has no working meter. Because nobody reads a meter, the distribution company (DisCo) has to guess how much energy you used. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) stopped DisCos guessing freely in 2020. Its Order on the Capping of Estimated Bills (Order No/NERC/197/2020), effective 20 February 2020, sets a ceiling on the kWh an unmetered residential (R2) or commercial (C1) customer can be charged for, and it has since been amended. Kaduna Electric, which serves Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, is bound by it like every other DisCo.
The cap is in energy, not naira. That matters: when the tariff for your band changes, the naira ceiling moves with it, but the kWh ceiling stays put until NERC revises it.
According to a legal summary of the 2020 order, NERC allowed three ways to set the energy cap for an unmetered customer:
NERC said it would review vending and supply data quarterly and revise the caps. When Kaduna Electric was sanctioned in 2024, the reporting described the aim as bringing estimated bills for unmetered customers into line with the actual consumption of metered customers on the same feeder. In practice, then, your cap depends on where you live, which feeder supplies you and your tariff class, and there is no single Kaduna-wide figure you can rely on from a news story.
The arithmetic is simple once you have two numbers: the capped kWh for your class and feeder, and your band's tariff. Kaduna Electric's tariffs are set in NERC's supplementary orders. In the July 2025 order for Kaduna Electric (ORDER/NERC/2025/066), Bands B to E were frozen at the rates payable since December 2022, and Band A was ₦209.50/kWh. Check the current order before you calculate; see Kaduna Electric tariff today.
Suppose, purely as an example, the cap for your class and feeder is 150 kWh a month and you are a Band B non-maximum-demand customer. The July 2025 order lists that tariff at ₦62.63/kWh.
| Item | Figure |
|---|---|
| Capped energy (example) | 150 kWh |
| Band B Non-MD tariff (Jul 2025 order) | ₦62.63/kWh |
| Maximum energy charge | 150 × ₦62.63 = ₦9,394.50 |
| Bill received (example) | 300 kWh, ₦18,789.00 |
| Excess you can dispute | ₦18,789.00 − ₦9,394.50 = ₦9,394.50 |
Your bill may also carry VAT and arrears on separate lines. Separate them before you compare; the cap concerns the energy charged for the month.
This is not a paper rule. NERC's amended capping orders required DisCos to refund customers billed above the cap, and in February 2024 Kaduna Electric said it would comply and refund overcharged customers; it added that customers receiving refunds should clear outstanding debts to avoid disconnection. Kaduna Electric's July 2025 tariff order also records that, under Order NERC/2024/004 on non-compliance with the capping of estimated bills, ₦115 million was deducted from its operating allowance from September 2024, described as 10% of the amount overbilled between January and September 2023.
The order also says you should not be left estimated indefinitely: customers who refuse a meter can be disconnected, and the faster way out of estimated billing is a meter. See how to apply for a Kaduna Electric prepaid meter and the wider rules in estimated electricity bills: your rights.
If you pay your Kaduna Electric bill from a Pryme account, keep the receipt. Pryme customers can generate a verifiable receipt or statement through its partnership with VerifyDoc.ai, which helps when you need to show what you paid and when during a dispute. See receipts and statements and electricity payments.
It is the capped kWh for your tariff class and feeder multiplied by your band tariff. The kWh cap is not one fixed Kaduna-wide number, so ask Kaduna Electric for the cap on your feeder.
Yes. NERC ordered refunds for billing above the cap, and Kaduna Electric said in February 2024 that it would refund overcharged customers. Ask for the excess to be credited and keep the reference.
No. The cap protects unmetered postpaid customers. If you have a working prepaid meter, you pay for what you buy.
The 2020 order required faulty meters to be replaced within two working days; failing that, the DisCo could bill only the average of your last three months of billing or vending. Report the fault in writing.
