Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Jobs and typical salaries in Kaduna: what work actually pays

Where the work is in Kaduna, the reported minimum wage, how pension deductions affect pay, example private-sector ranges and where real vacancies appear.

The short answer

Kaduna's reported minimum wage for some categories of state workers was ₦72,000 a month as at April 2026 (Nairametrics), above the ₦70,000 national floor many states pay. Most private pay is not published, so treat any salary list with care; public service, education, health, trading, agriculture and transport employ many people, and a salaried worker also contributes 8 per cent of pay to a pension, with the employer adding at least 10 per cent.

Salary is the first question most people ask about a job in Kaduna, and the hardest to answer with confidence, because almost no employer publishes pay. What can be stated with sources is the public floor (minimum wage), how deductions work and where vacancies are posted. Everything else in this guide is a labelled example.

Where the work is

Kaduna is a state capital with a large public service, universities and colleges, hospitals, military formations, markets and a large farming hinterland. Work commonly falls into:

  • State and federal public service, including teaching and health.
  • Trading, from market stalls to distribution businesses.
  • Agriculture and agro-processing: grains, ginger and other crops.
  • Transport and logistics, including the Abuja corridor.
  • Services: banking, telecoms, hospitality, security and construction.
  • Self-employment in crafts, tailoring, repairs and food.

The minimum wage

Nairametrics' state-by-state list, as at 30 April 2026, put Kaduna at ₦72,000 for some categories of workers, compared with ₦70,000 in many states. 'Some categories' matters: what a given civil servant receives depends on grade level and step, and the state's salary structure is not published on a page we could open. Ask the state Head of Service or your union for the scale that applies to your grade.

Deductions: from gross to take-home

Under PenCom rules, the minimum pension contribution is 18 per cent of monthly emoluments: 8 per cent from the employee and 10 per cent from the employer, which may bear the whole amount. Employers with three or more staff must comply. Income tax under the state's PAYE system is deducted on top.

Worked example (illustrative)

Take an example monthly emolument of ₦150,000. The employee pension contribution is 8 per cent, ₦12,000, and the employer adds 10 per cent, ₦15,000, so ₦27,000 goes into the worker's Retirement Savings Account each month. Before tax, the worker's pay after pension is ₦138,000 (150,000 − 12,000). Income tax and any other deductions, such as cooperative or union dues, reduce take-home further; your payslip should show each line.

Example private-sector ranges

These are illustrative ranges to help you frame negotiations, not survey data. Ask several people in the same role, and compare offers on total pay including allowances and pension.

Role (example)Example monthly range
Shop or sales assistant₦50,000 to ₦90,000
Security guard₦50,000 to ₦80,000
Private school teacher₦50,000 to ₦120,000
Bank or telecom customer service₦120,000 to ₦250,000
Graduate trainee in a large firm₦150,000 to ₦300,000

Inflation was 14.63 per cent year on year in September 2026 (NBS), so a salary that has not moved for a year buys noticeably less. See cost of living in Kaduna to compare pay with a monthly budget.

Negotiating an offer

  • Ask for the offer in writing: basic pay, each allowance, pension and any probation period.
  • Check whether transport, housing or meal allowances are paid monthly or only in some months.
  • Ask whether the employer remits pension to an RSA in your name; PenCom rules require remittance within seven working days of paying salary.
  • Compare the take-home figure, not the headline, with your monthly costs.
  • Ask how and when pay reviews happen; with prices rising, a job with a yearly review can be worth more than a slightly higher starting salary with none.

Once you start, check your Retirement Savings Account statement from your Pension Fund Administrator every few months to confirm that both your 8 per cent and the employer's 10 per cent are arriving. Missing remittances are easier to recover early.

If you work for yourself

Many people in Kaduna earn from trading, tailoring, repairs or farming rather than a salary. Income is uneven, so track it monthly and set aside money in good months. Self-employed people and firms with fewer than three staff can save for retirement through PenCom's Micro Pension Plan, according to its FAQ. See small trade costs in Kaduna for worked examples.

Where vacancies are posted

  • Official state and federal recruitment portals and the official websites and social media accounts of the agency hiring.
  • Company career pages and established job boards.
  • Universities, hospitals and NGOs, which post on their own sites.
  • Notice boards at professional associations and trade unions.

Never pay to apply or to secure a slot. Recruitment fraud is common across Nigeria; see scams in Kaduna.

Where Pryme fits

Employers in Kaduna can run payroll and bulk payouts from a Pryme Business Account, with the Finance agent preparing runs for a person to approve. Workers can keep a Savings Box for rent.
