Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Hungary student visa proof of funds for Nigerians

What evidence of funds Hungary asks for in a study residence permit, the three-month statement rule, and how a Stipendium Hungaricum award changes it.

The short answer

Hungary does not publish one fixed proof-of-funds figure in the embassy guidance we read: applicants must show sufficient funds for the whole stay, typically with bank statements for all accounts covering up to three months, a scholarship or sponsor's documents, or a notarised declaration of support. Stipendium Hungaricum covers tuition and supports accommodation, so the award letter becomes the main financial evidence; check the checklist of the Hungarian mission handling your application.

What Hungary actually asks for

Many Nigerians search for a single amount in naira or euros. The Hungarian embassy guidance we reviewed does not give one. A residence permit guide for students published by the Embassy of Hungary in Pristina requires "proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of the intended stay" and says the applicant must "provide evidence of having sufficient financial means to cover all costs related to the stay". It then lists the forms of evidence accepted, rather than a minimum figure.

Each Hungarian mission publishes its own checklist, and the guide we read was written for applicants in Kosovo. Nigerians apply through the Hungarian mission that covers Nigeria, so treat the list below as a strong indication and confirm it against that mission's current checklist.

Accepted evidence of funds

  • Bank account statements for all your accounts, covering up to the last three months
  • A scholarship or grant document
  • A sponsor's payslips covering up to three months
  • A declaration of financial support certified by a public notary

The guide asks for statements of all accounts, not just the one with the largest balance. That matters for Nigerian applicants who hold a naira savings account, a current account and a domiciliary account: a reviewer may want to see the full picture. If one account received a large deposit just before you applied, be ready to explain it; our guide on large deposits before a visa application covers how to document the source.

How much is "sufficient"?

Without a published figure, the practical test is whether your evidence covers tuition (unless paid or waived), accommodation and living costs for the period of the permit. Your university's cost-of-living estimate is the best benchmark to build from, because it reflects the city you will live in.

Example of building your figure

Example only, with figures chosen for illustration: tuition already paid, a university estimate of €600 a month for accommodation and living costs, and a first permit covering 12 months. You would aim to show at least €7,200 (600 × 12) in accessible funds, plus your return ticket and insurance. If your university's estimate is higher, use that.

Other documents in the same file

The Pristina guide also lists the papers that sit alongside your funds evidence:

DocumentWhat the guide says
Application formSigned application form and Appendix 14
PassportAt least two blank pages, issued within the previous 10 years
PhotosTwo colour passport photos, no older than three months
AdmissionAdmission or enrolment certificate, proof of tuition payment, or scholarship
AccommodationConfirmation of prearranged accommodation: student home, commercial accommodation or lease
InsuranceCover for at least the first 30 days, minimum EUR 30,000
FeeHandling fee of EUR 60 at that mission

The fee shown is the Pristina mission's; check what the mission handling Nigerian applications charges and how it must be paid.

Common reasons funds evidence falls short

  • Statements that do not cover the full period asked for, or leave out an account you hold
  • A balance that is high on one day but not explained by income or savings history
  • A sponsor letter with no proof of the sponsor's income or of your relationship
  • Money held in an account the applicant cannot access, such as a locked fixed deposit with no letter

Our guide to why proof of funds gets rejected covers each of these in more depth.

How Stipendium Hungaricum changes the picture

Stipendium Hungaricum is the Hungarian government's scholarship programme for international students. The programme's own FAQ says that under the scholarship "all your tuition fees will be covered, and your accommodation costs will be supported as well". It does not state a stipend figure on that page.

For a scholarship holder, the award letter becomes the core of the financial evidence, because it shows a public body is covering the main costs. You may still be asked for a smaller amount of personal funds for anything the award does not cover, such as your flight or the first weeks before payments begin. Check the separate checklist that missions publish for Stipendium Hungaricum holders and ask the scholarship coordinator at your university what extra evidence, if any, to bring.

What to check first

  1. Find the current student residence permit checklist from the Hungarian mission covering Nigeria.
  2. Ask your university for its monthly cost-of-living estimate.
  3. Gather three months of statements for every account you hold.
  4. If sponsored, get your sponsor's payslips and a notarised declaration of support.
  5. If on Stipendium Hungaricum, keep the award letter and ask whether personal funds are also required.

Where Pryme fits

Any Pryme customer can generate a regular or a verifiable statement through our partner VerifyDoc.ai, and anyone can check that a verifiable one is genuine and unaltered. Holding euros alongside naira in a multicurrency account also keeps funds for the move separate. Check that the mission accepts the statement format you plan to submit.

Questions people ask

How much money do I need in my account for a Hungary student visa?

The embassy guidance we read sets no fixed figure; you must show enough to cover all costs of your stay. Build your figure from your university's cost-of-living estimate and the permit length.

How many months bank statement for Hungary student visa?

The Hungarian embassy guide we reviewed asks for statements of all accounts covering up to the last three months. Check the checklist of the mission handling your file.

Do Stipendium Hungaricum students need proof of funds?

The scholarship covers tuition and supports accommodation, so the award letter is the main evidence. Missions may still ask for a smaller amount of personal funds; check their checklist for scholarship holders.

Can my parents sponsor my Hungary study visa?

The guidance accepts a sponsor's payslips and a declaration of financial support certified by a notary public. Include proof of your relationship.
