Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to read CBN treasury bill auction results

What offered, subscribed, allotted and stop rate mean in a CBN treasury bill auction result, using the 7 October 2026 auction as an example.

The short answer

A treasury bill auction result tells you, for each tenor, how much the government offered, how much investors bid for (subscribed), how much it actually sold (allotted) and the stop rate, the highest rate it accepted. At the 7 October 2026 auction, for example, ₦100 billion of 91-day bills drew only ₦39.42 billion of bids, while ₦700 billion of 364-day bills drew ₦1.683 trillion and cleared at 15.85%.

Who runs the auction

Nigerian Treasury Bills (NTBs) are issued for the Federal Government. The Central Bank of Nigeria runs the auction on behalf of the Debt Management Office, which is why you will see results reported under either name. Nairametrics' preview of the first Q4 2026 auction put it this way: the CBN, on behalf of the DMO, offered ₦900 billion. Bids go in through primary dealers on the CBN's system; the CBN's July 2026 notice said bids are submitted on the S4 web interface between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on auction day, by Dutch auction, in multiples of ₦1,000 with a minimum of ₦50,001,000.

The terms in a result, one by one

Tenor
How long the bill runs: 91, 182 or 364 days.
Amount offered
How much the government planned to sell in that tenor.
Total subscription (bids)
How much money investors put forward. Above the offer means oversubscribed; below means undersubscribed.
Amount allotted
How much was actually sold. It can be below the offer if the government rejects expensive bids, or above it if it chooses to take more.
Range of bids
The lowest and highest rates bidders asked for. A wide range shows disagreement about where rates should be.
Stop rate
The highest rate the government accepted. In a Dutch auction successful bidders are allotted at the stop rate, so it is the rate that matters for that auction.
Previous stop rate
The stop rate at the last auction of the same tenor, so you can see the direction of travel.

Total₦900bnabout ₦1.77trn₦968.47bn

Figures from Nairametrics' report of the 7 October 2026 results. Settlement was on 8 October, according to its preview.

What this table tells you

  • Demand was concentrated in the one-year bill. Bids of ₦1.683 trillion for ₦700 billion on offer means the 364-day bill was more than twice subscribed; the short bills were undersubscribed.
  • The government sold more than planned overall (₦968.47 billion against ₦900 billion) but accepted only ₦885 billion of the one-year bids, about half of what was offered by investors. That is how it keeps the stop rate from rising.
  • The one-year stop rate fell four basis points, from 15.89% to 15.85%. Small moves like this, repeated over several auctions, are what show a trend.
  • Short-tenor stop rates were unchanged, which suggests the government did not need to pay more to sell them even though demand was light.

Why a trend matters more than one auction

Earlier in 2026 the picture was different. In July the one-year stop rate rose to 17.70% on 8 July and eased to 17.66% on 15 July, and Blueprint reported 17.59% at the 12 August auction. By October it was 15.85%. Reading results in sequence like this tells a saver more than any single auction: a run of falling stop rates means new bills, and products priced off them, are likely to pay less.

For a record of past stop rates, see Nigerian treasury bill stop rates: history and how to read them, and for the mechanics behind them, how treasury bill auctions work in Nigeria.

From stop rate to what you earn

A stop rate is a discount rate, not the yield you earn on the money you pay. Because you pay less than face value, your true yield is a little higher than the stop rate, and the gap grows with the tenor. Stop rate vs true yield shows the conversion. If you buy through a bank, the rate it gives you may also differ from the stop rate because of its own margin and fees, so compare the rate on your confirmation with the published result.

What to check first

  1. The auction date and the tenor you care about.
  2. The stop rate and the previous stop rate for that tenor.
  3. Whether the tenor was over- or undersubscribed.
  4. The rate your bank or app is actually offering you, and its fees.

Common misreadings

  • Treating the stop rate as the yield. It is a discount rate; the true yield on a 364-day bill is noticeably higher.
  • Reading oversubscription as a sign that rates will rise. Heavy demand usually lets the government accept lower bids, which is what happened to the one-year rate on 7 October 2026.
  • Looking only at totals. The ₦968.47 billion total hid a split: weak demand for short bills and strong demand for one-year bills.
  • Comparing across instruments. OMO bills and FGN bonds have their own auctions and rates; compare like with like.
  • Assuming your bank will give you the stop rate. Its rate to you may include a margin.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not bid at treasury bill auctions. If you are watching auctions to decide when to buy, a Naira Flexible Box can hold the money in the meantime; its rate is shown in the app.

Questions people ask

What is stop rate in treasury bills?

The highest rate the government accepted at the auction for that tenor. Successful bids are allotted at that rate.

What does oversubscribed mean in T-bills?

Investors bid for more than was offered. On 7 October 2026 the 364-day bill drew ₦1.683 trillion of bids for ₦700 billion on offer.

Why is allotted less than subscribed?

The government chooses which bids to accept. Rejecting high-rate bids keeps the stop rate down, so allotment can be well below total bids.

Where do I see CBN treasury bill auction results?

The CBN publishes auction results on its website, and financial news sites report them the same day. Check the date and tenor.
