Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Loans

How to check whether you signed a GSI mandate

Not sure your bank loan lets the lender debit other accounts? Where the GSI clause sits in loan papers and how to ask the bank for the mandate record.

The short answer

A Global Standing Instruction mandate is normally part of a bank loan's documents: a clause in the offer letter or terms and conditions, or a separate consent form or checkbox in a digital loan journey, authorising the lender to recover from your accounts at other banks. To be sure, ask the lending bank in writing for a copy of your offer letter and any GSI mandate it holds for your loan.

Most people sign a stack of loan papers at once or tap "I agree" in a banking app. Months later a debit appears from another bank, and the question is whether they ever agreed to it. You can find out, and you are entitled to ask for copies of what you signed.

Where the GSI clause usually sits

DocumentWhat to look for
Offer letterA clause headed GSI, Global Standing Instruction, "recovery from other accounts", or "consent to debit accounts with other banks"
Terms and conditionsRecovery, set-off or default sections that mention accounts "with any other bank" or "linked to your BVN"
Separate mandate formA one-page form titled GSI mandate or similar, often signed alongside the offer letter
Digital loan journeyA checkbox or consent screen in the bank app or USSD flow before disbursement
Salary loan documentsRecovery clauses alongside the salary domiciliation or payroll deduction authority

Words that point to GSI

  • "Global Standing Instruction" or "GSI"
  • "Any account maintained by me with any bank or financial institution"
  • "Linked to my Bank Verification Number"
  • "Authorise the bank to recover ... from any of my accounts"

A set-off clause that only mentions accounts with the same bank is not a GSI mandate; it lets the bank use money you hold with it. See GSI explained for how the two differ.

Steps to check

  1. Search your email for the offer letter and terms, using the bank's name and words such as "offer letter" and "facility".
  2. In the bank app, look under loans for the agreement or documents section and download what is there.
  3. If you cannot find anything, write to the bank asking for copies.
  4. Read the default and recovery sections first, then any separate consent pages.

How to ask the bank for the mandate record

Send the request to the bank's official customer service email or deliver it at a branch and get your copy stamped as received.

"Dear Sir or Madam, I hold loan reference [number], granted on [date]. Please send me copies of the offer letter, terms and conditions, and any Global Standing Instruction mandate or consent you hold in respect of this facility, with the date and channel by which it was given. If a GSI request has been raised, please confirm the date, amount and accounts concerned. Yours faithfully, [name, account number, phone]."

Keep a copy and note the date. If the bank does not reply within a reasonable time, follow up through its complaints process, then the CBN. See how to complain to the CBN about a bank loan.

If the bank does not reply

Some branches are slow to retrieve old documents, especially for loans taken through an app. Follow up in writing after a week, quoting the date of your first request, and ask for a complaint reference number. If you are disputing a debit that has already happened, say so in the subject line; a disputed debit is a complaint, not just a document request, and banks track complaints differently. Keep screenshots of any in-app loan screens you can still see, because they may show the consent you were asked to give.

If the bank says the consent was given digitally, ask for a copy of the screen or terms you accepted, the date and time, and the device or channel used. A bare statement that consent exists is not the same as a copy of what you agreed to.

If you took several loans from the same bank, ask about each one, since a mandate signed for an old loan may not cover a newer one, or may have been worded to cover all facilities.

What the answer means

Mandate found and signed by you
The bank can use GSI under its terms; check any debit against the amount due
Mandate given by digital consent
Ask for the date, time and channel of the consent
No mandate found
Ask the bank to explain the legal basis for any debit from another bank and to refund it if there is none
Mandate from a guarantor only
The guarantor's accounts may be at risk, not yours, under the guarantor's own consent

What to check first

Where Pryme fits

For Loans on Spaces, lent by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank, the agreement is shown in full in the app before you accept, so you can read every term, including how repayment is collected, before anything is drawn. See credit.

Questions people ask

How do I know if I signed GSI?

Check your loan offer letter, terms and conditions and any consent screens for a Global Standing Instruction clause, and ask the bank in writing for copies of any mandate it holds.

Can a bank use GSI without my consent?

GSI depends on a mandate in your loan documents. If the bank cannot show one, ask it to explain the basis for the debit and to refund it.

Does every bank loan have a GSI mandate?

Many bank loans include one, but not all. Your documents are the only reliable answer.

Can I cancel a GSI mandate?

Usually not while the loan is outstanding. Once it is repaid, ask the bank to confirm in writing that the mandate is no longer active.
