Meet Eva, the assistant inside the Pryme app. She holds dollars, pounds, euros and Naira side by side, swaps at a locked rate, pays bills in any of them and sends anywhere, asking before anything moves.

We give you a limit to spend at the shops and services you already use — and an account that works on your month while you get on with it. Dollars, pounds and euros sit beside your Naira, and an assistant handles the running of it, asking you first every single time.
One global account for your money and business. Move across currencies, automate everyday operations and put AI agents to work — with you in control of every important decision.

You are not borrowing. You are selling to somebody who already has the money — and that money can only be spent with a business like yours.

Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Your blocked account is not a current account. How Nigerian students open a German account after the Anmeldung, and what Sparkasse and N26 ask for.
Most Nigerian students open a German current account after arriving, once they have registered their address (the Anmeldung) and received the registration certificate, because banks typically ask for your passport, visa or residence permit and that certificate. Your blocked account is separate: it releases a fixed monthly amount (€992 a month for 2026, from the €11,904 a year required) into a current account in your name, so you need the current account set up early.
Many Nigerian students arrive thinking their blocked account (Sperrkonto) is their German bank account. It is not. The blocked account exists to prove funds for the visa. Make it in Germany states that a student visa applicant using a blocked account needs at least €11,904 in 2026, which is €992 a month. After arrival, the provider releases that monthly amount to an everyday current account (Girokonto) that you nominate, and you pay rent, the semester contribution and daily costs from there.
So the order is: blocked account opened from Nigeria before the visa, then a current account in Germany, then you link the two so payouts can start. For setting up the blocked account itself, see how to open a German blocked account from Nigeria.
Registering your address with the local registration office (often called the Bürgeramt) is one of the first official steps after you move in. The certificate you receive, the Meldebescheinigung, is the document most banks ask for. Wise's guide to opening a German account (updated August 2026) lists the usual documents as your passport, your visa or residence permit, and the address registration certificate, and notes that you are unlikely to be able to open a regular German account online before you live there.
Savings banks (Sparkassen) and cooperative banks are local, branch-based banks, and many offer accounts aimed at students. They generally want an in-person appointment and the full document set. MyGermanUniversity's 2026 list of blocked-account providers also notes that Sparkasse offers blocked accounts only offline, so it is not a route for opening from Nigeria.
N26's own guide (September 2022) says you can open an N26 account with your passport or national ID by video identification, and that you can apply from abroad if you have an address in Germany; branch and PostIdent applications at other banks need a copy of the Meldebescheinigung. Check N26's current terms and the list of passports its video check accepts before relying on this, as both can change.
Some blocked-account providers offer a current account or an insurance package alongside the Sperrkonto. That can mean payouts start without waiting for an appointment, but compare the fees and terms with a standalone account.
| Option | Typical documents | Points to check |
|---|---|---|
| Branch bank (Sparkasse, cooperative bank) | Passport, visa/permit, Meldebescheinigung | Appointment wait; monthly account fee; student terms |
| App-based bank (for example N26) | Passport or ID, German address | Which passports the video check accepts; fees |
| Provider bundle | As set by provider | Fees, and whether it is a full German current account |
Germany's credit bureau, SCHUFA, only builds a record on you after you have lived and banked there for some time, according to Wise's guide. Expect a basic account without an overdraft at first. Account fees vary widely between banks; read the price list (Preisverzeichnis) and ask whether a student account is free while you are enrolled.
Example only. A student arrives on 1 October with €900 in cash and card funds. Registration is on 9 October, the current account opens on 14 October and the blocked-account payout of €992 arrives in early November. Between 1 October and the first payout, the €900 must cover a first week in temporary housing, food and transport. If the deposit and first rent fall due before the payout, the gap is larger. This is why many families send extra euros for the first month.
Keep your Nigerian account open and active while you settle. Your family may still send money through it, and a bank statement or reference letter from home can help when a German landlord or bank asks about your finances. If a German bank refuses an application, ask for the reason; often it is a missing document, such as a registration certificate that has not yet arrived, rather than your nationality.
Pryme does not provide German current accounts. A Pryme account holds EUR with local details alongside naira, which can help a family send euros for the first month or top up costs later; Swap shows the rate first. See also our German student budget.
A blocked account, yes, online with a provider. A regular current account is usually opened after you arrive and register your address, though some app-based banks accept applicants with a German address.
It is your address registration with the local office. The certificate (Meldebescheinigung) is a document most German banks ask for.
For 2026, €992 a month, from the €11,904 a year required for a student visa.
A basic account does not need an established SCHUFA record, but a new arrival has none, so overdrafts and credit are usually not available at first.
