Resolved 4 conversations — two deliveries, one refund. The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.
An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

A worked cost-per-kWh comparison of a petrol generator, a solar system and grid power in Nigeria, with sourced grid tariffs and labelled inputs.
Grid power is usually the cheapest per kWh: Ikeja Electric's Band A tariff was ₦209.50 per kWh in NERC's July 2025 order, about ₦225 with 7.5% VAT, and Band B was ₦62.48. In our labelled example a small petrol generator costs about ₦767 per kWh and a solar system about ₦329 per kWh over five years, but your fuel price and system quote change the result.
Most Nigerian households pay for electricity three ways at once: tokens for the grid, fuel for a generator and, increasingly, the upfront cost of solar. Comparing them per kilowatt-hour (kWh) is the only fair test, because each option has a different mix of upfront and running costs. Below, the grid figures come from NERC; the generator and solar figures are labelled examples you should replace with your own.
NERC sets grid tariffs per DisCo. For Ikeja Electric's ordinary customers, the July 2025 supplementary order (ORDER/NERC/2025/064) set:
| Band | Tariff ₦/kWh (July 2025) | With 7.5% VAT (example) | Minimum daily supply |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 209.50 | 225.21 | 20 hours |
| B | 62.48 | 67.17 | 16 hours |
| C | 45.80 | 49.24 | 12 hours |
| D / E | 31.24 | 33.58 | 8 / 4 hours |
Your DisCo and today's tariff may differ. Check the latest order on nerc.gov.ng or your token receipt. The grid has no upfront cost for a metered home, but it only delivers the hours your band promises.
A generator's cost per kWh is mostly fuel. The formula is: fuel price per litre ÷ kWh produced per litre, plus maintenance per kWh.
Example only. Assume petrol at ₦1,000 per litre (use your local pump price), a small generator producing 1.5 kWh of useful electricity per litre at a sensible load, and ₦100 per kWh for servicing, oil and repairs. Fuel: 1,000 ÷ 1.5 = ₦666.67 per kWh. Total: about ₦766.67 per kWh, before the cost of the generator itself.
Solar has little running cost, so the cost per kWh is the system price divided by the energy it delivers over the period you count.
Example only. Assume a ₦3,000,000 system (panels, inverter, batteries, installation) delivering 5 kWh of usable energy a day. Over five years: 5 × 365 × 5 = 9,125 kWh, so 3,000,000 ÷ 9,125 = about ₦328.77 per kWh. If the same system ran ten years with no battery replacement, the figure would halve to about ₦164.38, but batteries often need replacing within that time, so price that in.
Get at least two written quotes and ask each installer for the expected daily output in kWh, battery type and warranty. Our guide to sizing an inverter and battery shows how to work out what you need.
| Option | Cost per kWh | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Grid, Band A (IE) | ₦225.21 | NERC July 2025 tariff plus 7.5% VAT example |
| Grid, Band B (IE) | ₦67.17 | NERC July 2025 tariff plus 7.5% VAT example |
| Petrol generator | About ₦766.67 | Example: ₦1,000/litre, 1.5 kWh/litre, ₦100 maintenance |
| Solar (5-year view) | About ₦328.77 | Example: ₦3m system, 5 kWh/day |
On these inputs, grid power is cheapest whenever it is on, solar sits between Band A and the generator over five years, and the generator is the most expensive way to make a kWh. Most homes end up combining them: grid when supply is on, solar or batteries for the gaps, a generator only for long outages. A planned budget across all three is in budgeting for electricity in Lagos.
A household that gets 18 hours of grid supply needs only a few hours of backup, so a small battery may beat a large solar system on cost. One on Band D or E with long outages may find solar pays back faster than the example suggests.
If you pay Band A prices but get far fewer than 20 hours, your feeder may be due a downgrade, which cuts your grid cost per kWh. See how to check for a Band A downgrade.
A solar system is a large purchase. An Investment or Fixed Savings Box can hold the money while you collect quotes, and grid tokens can be bought in the Pryme app. Rates for Boxes are shown in the app.
On NERC's July 2025 Ikeja Electric tariffs, grid power at ₦209.50 per kWh (Band A) or ₦62.48 (Band B) is well below our example generator cost of about ₦767 per kWh at ₦1,000 per litre of petrol.
In our labelled example, yes: about ₦329 per kWh over five years against about ₦767 for a petrol generator. Your quote and fuel price decide the real answer.
Divide your fuel price per litre by the kWh your generator makes per litre, then add maintenance. At ₦1,000 per litre and 1.5 kWh per litre, fuel alone is about ₦667.
On our example inputs Band A at about ₦225 per kWh with VAT is cheaper than solar at about ₦329 over five years, but only while the grid is on.
