Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Send by Flutterwave fees and exchange rate explained

How Send App by Flutterwave shows its transfer fee and exchange rate before you pay, what "flat fee" means, and how to compare the real cost of a transfer.

The short answer

Send App by Flutterwave says it charges a flat transfer fee and uses an exchange rate that is "determined on a daily basis". Before you pay, its calculator shows three lines: the fee, the total to pay and the rate. Send App’s home page gives no fee amount, so the figure to rely on is the one shown on your own quote.

What Send App says about its fees

Send App’s home page describes the service in two phrases that matter for cost. First, users "can send up to $20,000 to recipients around the world for a flat transfer fee." Second, "the exchange rate used for all transactions is determined on a daily basis," and the currency converter "shows you the exchange rates whenever you attempt a transaction." No fee amount is published on the page, and the public calculator showed placeholder values when we checked in October 2026, with the fee line reading "FREE" before any amount was entered.

A flat fee means a fixed charge per transfer rather than a percentage of the amount. That favours larger transfers: the same charge is a smaller share of a big payment. It does not tell you the full cost, though, because the exchange rate carries its own cost.

The two parts of what you pay

PartHow Send App shows itWhat to look for
Transfer feeA "Fee" line in the calculator before you payWhether it changes with the amount, the corridor or the payout method
Exchange rateA "Rate" line, for example the naira per pound or per dollarHow far it sits from the mid-market rate you see on a reference site
Total to payThe amount taken from your card, bank or walletThat it matches the debit on your statement
Recipient getsThe amount after conversionThat it matches what lands in the Nigerian account

The rate line is where most of the cost often sits. If the rate you are given is lower than the mid-market rate, the difference is a margin, even if the fee says zero. Send App does not publish a margin figure, so the way to measure it is to compare your quote with a mid-market reference at the same moment.

Worked example of the true cost

Example only, with made-up numbers. Suppose you send £200. Your quote shows a fee of £2, a total to pay of £202 and a rate of ₦1,900 to the pound, so your recipient gets ₦380,000. At the same moment a reference site shows a mid-market rate of ₦1,950. At that rate £200 would be ₦390,000. The exchange-rate cost is ₦10,000, which is about £5.13 at the mid-market rate. Add the £2 fee and the transfer costs about £7.13 in total, or roughly 3.5% of the £202 you paid. The figures are invented to show the method; check your own quote.

What can change the cost

  • Where you send from. Send App lists sending countries across the EU, the UK, the US and several African countries. Each corridor can price differently.
  • How you fund the transfer. The home page lists debit cards, credit cards, bank transfer, Apple Pay and Google Pay (web only). Your own card issuer may add a charge, especially on a credit card, which some issuers treat as a cash advance.
  • How the recipient is paid. Bank account, mobile money and cash pickup are listed. Compare quotes if the app lets you switch.
  • When you send. Because the rate is set daily, the same amount can buy a different number of naira on different days.
  • Your limit tier. The support centre has articles on tier limits, which affect how much you can send rather than the price.

How to compare Send App with another provider

  1. Pick one amount and one payout method.
  2. Get a quote from each provider within a few minutes of each other.
  3. Write down the fee, the total to pay and the amount the recipient gets.
  4. Compare the recipient amount first. It already includes both the fee and the rate.
  5. Check whether the recipient’s Nigerian bank charges anything to receive. Most incoming naira transfers are free, but confirm with the bank.

For the payout side, our explainer on CBN rules on how remittances are paid out in Nigeria covers the rules that apply once money reaches Nigeria, and our guide on sending money to Nigeria with Send App covers the steps.

Reading the quote screen line by line

Before you confirm, take a screenshot of the quote. If the amount that reaches Nigeria is lower than the quote, the screenshot is your evidence. Check that the currency on the "Total to pay" line is the one your card or bank account is in; if it is not, your own bank may convert it first and add a cross-border charge that Send App never sees.

Where Pryme fits

If your family or clients send you pounds, dollars or euros, a Pryme account gives you local details in each of those currencies, and the money stays in that currency until you decide. When you convert with Swap, the rate is shown first and the fee sits on its own line before you approve, so you can run the same comparison. See multicurrency accounts for details.

Questions people ask

How much does Flutterwave Send charge per transfer?

Send App says it charges a flat transfer fee but does not publish the amount on its home page as at October 2026. The fee is shown in the calculator before you pay.

Is Send App free to send money to Nigeria?

The calculator may show the fee as free, but the exchange rate can include a margin. Compare the naira your recipient gets with a mid-market rate to see the full cost.

What exchange rate does Send App use?

Send App says its rate is determined on a daily basis and is shown whenever you attempt a transaction. The rate on your quote is the one that applies.

What is the maximum I can send on Send App?

The home page says users can send up to $20,000. Your own limit depends on your verification tier; the support centre explains tier limits.
