Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Driver's licence in Akure: FRSC, VIO and the exact steps

How to get a driver's licence in Akure: driving school, the FRSC portal, official fees, capture, what the VIO does, and how to track your licence.

The short answer

To get a new driver's licence in Akure you train at an FRSC-accredited driving school, use its certificate number to apply on the FRSC licence portal, pay, and attend capture in person at an FRSC centre. FRSC's portal lists the fee for a car licence (Class B and other non-motorcycle classes) at ₦15,000 for three years or ₦21,000 for five years, and ₦7,000 or ₦11,000 for a motorcycle (Class A), as at October 2026.

The driver's licence in Nigeria is issued nationally by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) through the National Driver's Licence portal, so the steps in Akure are the same as anywhere else. What differs is where you go for training, testing and capture. This guide covers each step, the official fees, what the state Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) does, and how to avoid paying touts.

Who does what

FRSC
Runs the licence portal, capture centres and production of the licence.
Accredited driving school
Provides the mandatory training for fresh applicants and issues the certificate number you need to apply.
Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO)
A state body that inspects vehicles for roadworthiness and, in many states, tests drivers. Ask FRSC in Akure whether a VIO test is part of the process for your application; we could not confirm Ondo's current practice on an official page.

Steps for a new licence

  1. Choose an FRSC-accredited driving school. The FRSC portal lists accredited schools by state and local government area under its contact menu.
  2. Complete the training. The school issues a certificate number.
  3. Start your application on the FRSC licence portal using that number. Fill personal and contact details, choose your processing centre in Ondo and the licence type and length (three or five years), review and pay.
  4. Pay by one of the portal's methods. FRSC lists bank payment, card online, POS at the chosen centre with the transaction number, and NetPostPay, and warns that channel charges may apply.
  5. Attend the capture centre in person for photograph and fingerprints. The portal says applicants must appear in person.
  6. Track your application with the application ID, or your licence number and date of birth, using 'Track DL Application Status'.

Documents to have ready

  • Your NIN, with names and date of birth exactly as you want them on the licence.
  • The driving school certificate number for a fresh application.
  • Your existing licence number for a renewal, reissue or upgrade.
  • A medical certificate for a commercial licence.
  • An email address and phone number you check, because the portal sends updates there.
  • Proof of payment, printed or on your phone, for the capture centre.

Arrive early on capture day, because centres often serve people in order of arrival, and check every detail on the screen before your photograph is taken. A spelling error found after printing means a fresh application for a change of details. If you are a new driver, keep practising with a licensed driver beside you until you are confident on Akure's busier roads, and carry your licence whenever you drive.

Official fees

Licence3 years5 years
Class A (motorcycle)₦7,000₦11,000
Other classes, including Class B (private car)₦15,000₦21,000

These are the fees on FRSC's portal FAQ when we checked in October 2026; they match the figures the Guardian reported in October 2024 from a Joint Tax Board circular effective 1 November 2024. Each class is charged separately. Driving school fees are not set by FRSC and vary by school.

Worked example

Example only. A first-time applicant wants a five-year Class B licence. Licence fee ₦21,000 (official). Driving school ₦60,000 (example; get quotes). Medical or eye test if required, ₦5,000 (example). Transport to training and capture, ₦8,000 (example). Total ₦94,000. If the applicant also adds Class A for a motorcycle, add ₦11,000 for five years, making ₦105,000.

Renewal, reissue and changes

  • Renewal is for an expired licence and is done on the portal with your existing licence number, for three or five years.
  • Reissue is for a licence that is still valid but lost or damaged.
  • Change of details is allowed with supporting documents.
  • You can edit an application until you pay; unpaid applications are purged after three months.

Our national guides cover FRSC fees and steps and renewal and reissue in more depth.

Avoiding touts

People near offices may offer to 'help' with a licence for several times the official fee, sometimes without training or capture. A licence obtained that way may not be on the FRSC database. Pay only through the portal's channels, keep the payment receipt, and if anything is unclear call FRSC's lines listed on the portal: 122 or 0700-2255-3772.

What to check first

  • The driving school is on FRSC's accredited list for Ondo.
  • The class and length you are paying for.
  • Your names and date of birth match your NIN.
  • Your application ID is saved before you leave the portal.

Where Pryme fits

You can pay a driving school or other fees by transfer from the app with Send, and keep the receipt. If you need proof of payment someone can check, generate a verifiable receipt with VerifyDoc.ai.

Questions people ask

How much is driver's licence in Akure?

FRSC's portal lists ₦15,000 for three years or ₦21,000 for five years for a car (Class B and other non-motorcycle classes), and ₦7,000 or ₦11,000 for a motorcycle. Channel charges and driving school fees are extra.

Do I need a driving school to get a licence?

Yes, for a fresh licence. FRSC requires training at an accredited driving school, which issues the certificate number you use to apply.

How do I check my driver's licence status?

Use 'Track DL Application Status' on the FRSC licence portal with your application ID, or your licence number and date of birth.

Can I renew my driver's licence online?

You start renewal on the FRSC portal with your existing licence number and choose three or five years, then follow the portal's instructions for capture if required.
