Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Threatening messages and cyberstalking: Section 24 explained

Owing money does not make threats lawful. What section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act covers after the 2024 amendment, and how to report debt threats.

The short answer

Section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act covers messages sent through computers or phones that threaten, bully or harass. In the 2015 text, a message that puts someone in fear of death, violence or bodily harm carries up to 10 years' imprisonment, a fine of at least ₦25,000,000, or both. The 2024 amendment rewrote section 24(1); owing money does not make threats lawful, and you can report to the police cybercrime portal and, for loan apps, the FCCPC.

Owing money does not remove your protection

Many threats in Nigeria arrive over a debt: a loan app, a lender's recovery agent, a former business partner or a relative. The debt may be real. The threats are a separate matter. A lender is entitled to ask for repayment and to go to court; it is not entitled to frighten you. The FCCPC said in September 2025, when it issued its digital lending regulations, that "no consumer should be harassed, defamed, or lured into unsustainable debt under the guise of digital lending".

What section 24 says

Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015 deals with cyberstalking. A summary by Aarndale Solicitors (April 2024) describes several parts in the 2015 text:

Conduct (2015 text)Penalty as summarised
Sending an offensive, obscene or menacing message, or one known to be false, to cause annoyance, insult or similar harmUp to ₦7,000,000 or up to 3 years, or both
Transmitting a communication to bully, threaten or harass, where it puts a person in fear of death, violence or bodily harmUp to 10 years and/or a fine of at least ₦25,000,000
Transmitting threats to kidnap or harm a person, or demands for ransomUp to 10 years and/or at least ₦25,000,000
Threats to harm property or reputation, or to accuse someone of a crime, to extort money or anything of valueUp to 5 years and/or at least ₦15,000,000

What changed in 2024

The amendment Act signed on 28 February 2024 rewrote section 24(1). As quoted by a civil society coalition in March 2024, it now covers messages that are pornographic, or that the sender knows to be false, sent "for the purpose of causing a breakdown of law and order, posing a threat to life". The old wording about annoyance and insult was removed. The release does not say whether the parts on threats and extortion were changed, and we did not confirm the amended penalties, so check the current text with a lawyer before you rely on a figure.

Debt threats that may cross the line

  • "Pay today or we will come to your house and deal with you." A threat of violence.
  • "We will post your photo to all your contacts as a thief and a fraudster." A threat to reputation used to get money.
  • "We will report you to the police for fraud unless you pay." A threat to accuse of a crime to obtain money, where there is no genuine complaint.
  • Repeated messages to your employer, church or family designed to humiliate you.

On loan apps specifically, the FCCPC's 2025 regulations say apps should not access contacts, call logs or photos (Schedule 1). If an app messages your contacts, that is part of your complaint. Our guide to loan app harassment and your rights covers the wider rules.

How to report

  1. Do not reply in anger and do not delete. Screenshot every message with the sender's number and the date visible, and save voice notes.
  2. Report to the police. The Nigeria Police National Cybercrime Centre runs an e-reporting portal at nccc.npf.gov.ng, relaunched in May 2024 according to Techeconomy. You can also make a report at a police station; ask for a reference. See reporting cybercrime online.
  3. For a digital lender, tell the FCCPC. Its September 2025 release gives lenderstaskforce@fccpc.gov.ng for complaints about abusive recovery. Include the app's name, your loan details and the messages.
  4. Tell the people being contacted. A short note to your contacts that a lender is misusing your number takes away the threat's power.
  5. Ask about a court order. The Aarndale summary notes that the courts can make orders under section 24 to protect a victim, and breaching an order is itself an offence.

Keep paying what you owe, through the proper channel

Reporting threats does not cancel a lawful debt. If you can, agree a repayment plan in writing and pay through the lender's official channel. That keeps your own position clean. For arithmetic and next steps, see loan app debited more than agreed, and for posting about the lender publicly, read when calling someone out becomes defamation.

Where Pryme fits

Loans on Spaces are lent by Solid Allianze MFB, can only be spent with merchants in Spaces, and the full agreement, including the repayment date, is shown before you accept (credit). Knowing your repayment date and amount from the start is the best defence against a recovery dispute.

Questions people ask

Is it a crime for a loan app to threaten me?

Threats that put you in fear of violence, or threats to your reputation used to extort payment, fall within section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act as summarised from the 2015 text. Report to the police and the FCCPC.

What is section 24 of the Cybercrimes Act?

It is the cyberstalking section. The 2024 amendment rewrote section 24(1) to cover pornographic messages and knowingly false messages sent to cause a breakdown of law and order or a threat to life.

Where do I report threatening messages in Nigeria?

The Nigeria Police National Cybercrime Centre e-reporting portal at nccc.npf.gov.ng, or any police station. For digital lenders, also email the FCCPC at lenderstaskforce@fccpc.gov.ng.

Can a debt collector message my contacts in Nigeria?

The FCCPC's 2025 digital lending regulations say loan apps should not access contacts, call logs or photos, and the FCCPC has said consumers should not be harassed or defamed.
