Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

2018OjirehPrime Card

2020Microfinance bank

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Business

Customer deposit receipt template for orders (Nigeria)

A copyable deposit receipt for part-paid orders in Nigeria, with balance due, collection date and fair refund rules if the order is cancelled.

The short answer

A deposit receipt for a part-paid order should show the full price, the deposit, the balance due and when, the ready or delivery date, and the refund rule if either side cancels. Fair rules let the business keep only what it has actually spent or done, and give the customer a full refund if the business misses the date.

Tailors, furniture makers, caterers, printers, event decorators and car dealers all take part payment before they start work. A deposit receipt protects both sides by recording what was paid, what is still owed, when the order will be ready and what happens if either side cancels. Without it, a ₦50,000 deposit becomes a he-said-she-said dispute.

Why a deposit receipt is different from a normal receipt

  • It records a part payment, so it must show the full order price and the balance due.
  • It describes the order in enough detail that both sides agree what is being made or supplied.
  • It sets a collection or delivery date and what happens if the customer does not collect.
  • It sets the refund rule if the order is cancelled, by either side.

Under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, a consumer has a right to a written record of every transaction, as summarised by FE Fred-Young & Evans on Mondaq. For an order paid in stages, the deposit receipt is the first part of that record.

The template

  1. DEPOSIT RECEIPT No. DR-[ ] Date: [dd/mm/yyyy]
  2. Business: [name], [address], [phone]. Customer: [name], [phone].
  3. Order: [description, quantity, size, colour, materials, design reference or photo].
  4. Full order price: ₦[ ]. Deposit received today: ₦[ ] by [transfer / cash / POS], reference [ ].
  5. Balance due: ₦[ ], payable [on collection / before delivery / by date].
  6. Ready for collection or delivery on: [date]. Delivery to [address] at ₦[ ] / included.
  7. If the customer cancels: before work starts, the deposit is refunded less ₦[ ] for [design / administration]; after materials are bought or work has started, the business may keep the cost of materials bought and work done, shown by receipts, and refunds any balance within [ ] days.
  8. If the business cancels or misses the ready date by more than [ ] days: the customer may cancel and receive the full deposit back within [ ] days.
  9. Uncollected orders: if the customer does not collect or pay the balance within [ ] days of the ready date, after [two] written reminders, the business may [sell the goods and refund any deposit less its costs / charge storage of ₦[ ] per day].
  10. Signed: [business] / [customer]

Setting a fair refund rule

The fairest rules link what the business keeps to what it has actually spent or done. A deposit kept in full when the customer cancels the next day, before any material is bought, invites a complaint. A deposit refunded in full after fabric has been cut for a bespoke outfit is unfair the other way. Write the rule so both cases are covered.

When the order is cancelledExample fair outcome
Customer cancels before work startsRefund deposit less a small agreed admin charge
Customer cancels after materials boughtKeep materials cost (with receipts); refund the rest
Customer cancels when goods are readyKeep deposit up to the value of work done; goods may be sold
Business misses ready dateCustomer may cancel for full refund
Business cannot supply at allFull refund

Worked example: a furniture order

Example only. A customer orders a dining set for ₦900,000 and pays a 40% deposit.

ItemAmount
Full price₦900,000
Deposit at 40%₦360,000
Balance due on delivery₦540,000

The customer cancels after the workshop has bought ₦220,000 of wood and foam (receipts kept) and spent labour it values at ₦60,000. Under the receipt's rule, the business keeps ₦280,000 and refunds ₦80,000 within the agreed days, with copies of the material receipts.

Keeping deposits separate

A deposit is money the business has not yet earned. Spending it on other orders or running costs is how small workshops end up unable to buy materials or refund a cancelled order. Where you can, hold deposits in a separate account or sub-account until the order is delivered, and track them in a simple list: receipt number, customer, deposit, balance due and ready date. Review the list weekly for orders past their ready date.

If a deposit dispute escalates

  • Consumers complain to the business first. The FCCPC's FAQs say a complainant must have engaged the provider before filing, and that the FCCPC then asks the business for a response.
  • In Lagos, liquidated money claims up to ₦5,000,000 can go to the Small Claims Court under the 2023 Practice Direction, starting with a Form SCA 1 demand that gives 14 days.
  • The deposit receipt, transfer record and any messages about the order are the evidence.

Where Pryme fits

Take deposits by transfer through bank-transfer checkout (free) or invoicing so the part payment and balance sit on one record, and issue a verifiable receipt through receipts and statements, built with VerifyDoc.ai, that the customer can check is unaltered. For holding deposits against damage, see the caution fee receipt template, and for buyers, proof of payment both sides trust.

Questions people ask

Is a deposit refundable in Nigeria if I cancel my order?

It depends on what was agreed. A fair receipt refunds the deposit less what the business has actually spent or done, shown by receipts. Agree the rule before paying.

What should a deposit receipt contain?

Order details, full price, deposit paid, balance due, ready date, what happens on cancellation by either side, and what happens to uncollected goods.

Can a business keep my deposit if it delivers late?

Not fairly. A good deposit receipt lets the customer cancel for a full refund if the business misses the ready date by more than an agreed number of days.

Where can I complain about a business that will not refund my deposit?

Complain to the business first, then to the FCCPC through complaints.fccpc.gov.ng. In Lagos, claims up to ₦5m can go to the Small Claims Court.
