Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Canada Express Entry settlement funds by family size

IRCC's proof-of-funds table, last updated 7 July 2025: CAD 15,263 for one person up to CAD 40,392 for seven. Who counts, who is exempt, what to send.

The short answer

IRCC's Express Entry table, updated on 7 July 2025, requires CAD 15,263 for a single applicant, CAD 19,001 for two, CAD 23,360 for three and CAD 28,362 for four, rising by CAD 4,112 for each member beyond seven. Canadian Experience Class applicants, and those authorised to work in Canada with a valid job offer, are exempt.

The current table

Source: IRCC, Proof of funds: Express Entry. The figures were updated on 7 July 2025, with a deadline of 28 July 2025 for applicants to update their profiles. The page was last modified on 16 October 2026, when we read it. IRCC usually revises the table periodically, so check the page before you create or update your profile.

Not the same as the study permit figure

Applicants sometimes confuse this table with the study permit living-expense table. They are different: for a study permit outside Quebec, IRCC sets CAD 23,448 a year for one person for applications from 1 September 2026, excluding tuition. The Express Entry figure for one person is CAD 15,263. Use the table for the route you are applying under.

When the table changes during your application

IRCC's July 2025 update shows what happens when the figures move: profiles had to be updated by a set deadline, 28 July 2025 on that occasion. If the table changes while your profile is in the pool, or after an invitation, check IRCC's instructions on the page at that time and update your profile if asked. Keeping a margin above the current figure makes a small increase less likely to catch you out.

Who counts as a family member

Family size is not just the people travelling. IRCC counts you, your spouse or common-law partner, your dependent children, and your spouse's or partner's dependent children, even if they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, or are not coming with you. This catches many Nigerian applicants: a child staying with grandparents in Nigeria still counts towards the figure.

Count carefully before you create your profile, because the figure is tied to the family size you declare. Leaving out a dependent child to lower the required amount is a misstatement on the application, which is a far bigger problem than a shortfall.

Worked example

Example only. Kemi and her husband have two children. One child will stay in Nigeria for school. Their family size is still four, so the requirement is CAD 28,362, not the CAD 23,360 for three. If Kemi's husband also had a dependent child from an earlier marriage, the family would be five and the figure CAD 32,168.

Who does not need proof of funds

  • Applicants invited under the Canadian Experience Class.
  • Applicants who are authorised to work in Canada and have a valid job offer, even under the Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades programmes.

IRCC notes that the online system still asks for a proof-of-funds document, so exempt applicants upload a letter explaining their situation.

What counts, and what does not

CountsDoes not count
Money in your bank and investment accountsMoney borrowed from another person
A joint account with a spouse or partner coming with youEquity in real property
An account in your spouse's sole name, if you prove accessFunds you cannot show will be available when your PR visa is issued

These points are all from IRCC's page. Investments and the precise treatment of other assets are judged by the officer; keep documents that show what each is worth and how quickly it can be accessed.

The bank letter IRCC asks for

Your bank must provide a letter on its letterhead with its address, phone number and email, your name, any outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans, and for each account: the account number, the date it was opened, the current balance and the average balance for the past six months. Ask your Nigerian bank for a letter that includes every item; a plain statement does not. Our guide to getting a visa statement from a Nigerian bank covers how to ask. The six-month average is explained in how long Express Entry funds must sit.

Showing funds held in naira

IRCC's table is in Canadian dollars. If your money is in naira, the officer compares its value with the requirement, and the naira has moved sharply in recent years. Keep a clear margin above the figure and recheck the converted value before you update your profile and again before you submit. We do not quote a rate here because it changes daily.

What to check first

  1. Confirm the current table on IRCC's page and note its update date.
  2. Count your family members using IRCC's definition.
  3. Check whether you fall into an exempt group.
  4. Compare your six-month average and current balance with the figure.
  5. If you are also considering a provincial route, see which PNP streams need proof of funds.

Where Pryme fits

A Pryme account holds NGN, USD, GBP and EUR with local details for each, so savings for a move can be kept in a stronger currency without converting until you choose. See multicurrency accounts.

Questions people ask

How much is proof of funds for Canada Express Entry 2026?

IRCC's table, updated 7 July 2025 and still shown in October 2026, requires CAD 15,263 for one person, CAD 19,001 for two, CAD 23,360 for three and CAD 28,362 for four.

Do I need proof of funds if I have a job offer in Canada?

Not if you are authorised to work in Canada and have a valid job offer, according to IRCC. Upload a letter explaining your situation instead.

Does my child in Nigeria count for proof of funds?

Yes. IRCC counts dependent children even if they are not coming with you.

Can I use my wife's account for Express Entry proof of funds?

A joint account counts if your spouse is coming with you. An account in her sole name can count if you prove you have access to it.
