Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

How to apply for an IPO or public offer in Nigeria

How to subscribe to an IPO, public offer or rights issue in Nigeria: NGX Invest, your broker, payment, allotment and refunds.

The short answer

You apply for a Nigerian IPO or public offer through a stockbroker, either directly or on NGX Invest, the SEC-approved e-offering platform NGX launched in 2024, which also takes subscriptions on WhatsApp (send "Invest" to +234 812 731 9521). You need a CSCS account (CHN) so allotted shares can be credited, and any shortfall in allotment is refunded as set out in the offer document.

When a company sells new shares to the public, through an initial public offering (IPO), a public offer by a company already listed, or a rights issue to existing shareholders, you subscribe during a fixed offer period. You cannot buy these shares on the exchange until they are listed. This guide covers the routes open to you, what you need ready, and what happens after the offer closes.

The three kinds of offer

IPO
A company offers shares to the public for the first time before listing on the NGX.
Public offer
A listed or unlisted company offers new shares to anyone during the offer period.
Rights issue
Only existing shareholders are offered new shares in proportion to what they already hold. See bonus and rights issues explained.

Every offer is approved by the SEC and comes with a prospectus or rights circular. That document is the authority on the price, minimum subscription, offer dates, how shares will be allotted and how refunds will be paid. Read it before you pay.

What you need before you apply

  • An account with a stockbroker registered with the SEC.
  • A CSCS account and Clearing House Number (CHN). CSCS says the CHN is the unique number that identifies each investor in the Nigerian capital market, and that you get one by first opening an account with a stockbroker. See how to open a CSCS account.
  • Your BVN and a bank account in your own name, which the broker uses for verification and refunds.
  • The money, available before the offer closes.

Route 1: NGX Invest

NGX Group describes NGX Invest as its "SEC-approved e-offering platform" for public offers, rights issues and IPOs. In September 2026 NGX said the platform had handled more than 23 primary-market transactions and supported over ₦3 trillion of capital raising since its launch in 2024. It added a WhatsApp channel the same month.

Steps on WhatsApp, as NGX describes them

  1. Send "Invest" to +234 812 731 9521 on WhatsApp.
  2. Follow the prompts to see the offers open to you.
  3. Choose the offer and enter the amount you want to subscribe for.
  4. Select a stockbroker to process the application.
  5. Complete payment as instructed and keep the confirmation.

NGX's announcement does not set out the identity or payment checks in detail, so expect your chosen broker to verify your details and CHN. Make sure the number you message is the one on NGX Group's own website; scammers copy offer names to collect money.

Route 2: through your broker directly

Most brokers also accept applications by their own app, web portal, email or a paper form. You confirm the offer, the number of shares or amount, your CHN, and pay into the account the broker names. For a rights issue, your broker or the registrar will tell you how many rights you hold and the last date to accept.

After the offer closes: allotment and refunds

Once the offer closes, the issuer and its advisers work out the allotment. If the offer is oversubscribed, you may get fewer shares than you asked for, according to the basis of allotment approved by the SEC and published afterwards. Shares you are allotted are credited to your CSCS account, and you can check them on your statement (see how to check your CSCS statement). Money for shares you did not receive is refunded, usually to the bank account linked to your application, in the way the offer document describes.

The timetable for allotment, refunds and listing is set out in the offer document and later announcements, and it varies between offers. Do not plan around money you expect back from a refund until it has arrived.

Worked example (labelled)

Example only. You apply for 10,000 shares at an offer price of ₦20, paying ₦200,000. The offer is oversubscribed and the basis of allotment gives you 6,000 shares. You are credited with 6,000 shares (₦120,000 at the offer price) and refunded ₦80,000. Check whether your broker charges anything on the application or refund.

What to check first

  • The offer is listed on NGX Invest or on the SEC's or NGX's announcements, not only on social media.
  • Your broker appears on the SEC's Find a Registered Operator page.
  • Your name, BVN and bank account match your CSCS records, so refunds and credits do not fail.
  • You have read the risk factors and use of proceeds in the prospectus.

Common mistakes

  • Paying into an account that is not named in the offer document or by your registered broker.
  • Applying with a name or BVN that does not match your CSCS record, which can delay the credit of shares or a refund.
  • Assuming an oversubscribed offer means the share price will rise once listed; prices after listing can go either way.

Where Pryme fits

Pryme does not process share applications. You can send your subscription payment from your Pryme account to your broker's account, and a verifiable receipt of the payment, created with VerifyDoc.ai, gives you a record anyone can check if a dispute arises.
