An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.
A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.
Solid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.
More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.
Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.
Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.
Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.
Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.
Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.
Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.
Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.
Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

The CBN's flagship farm scheme lent through anchors and associations. An audit found ₦629.04bn unrecovered at end-2022. Where repayment stands.
The Anchor Borrowers' Programme (ABP) was the CBN's flagship farm-credit scheme. It stopped making new loans when the CBN suspended its intervention schemes in December 2023. An Auditor-General's report published in September 2025 found ₦629.04 billion still outstanding at 31 December 2022, down from ₦949.18 billion a year earlier, and past borrowers still owe whatever their loan terms say.
Under the ABP, the CBN provided money for loans to smallholder farmers, mostly as inputs and services rather than cash, linked to "anchors": processors, large buyers and commodity associations that were expected to buy the harvest and help recover the loan from the proceeds. Rice became the best-known crop, but maize, cotton, cassava and others were included. Authorities said in 2022 that at least 4.8 million people had benefited, though the Auditor-General noted the figures were not backed by adequate disclosure of beneficiaries.
Premium Times, reporting the Auditor-General's report on the CBN's 2022 accounts, gave these figures:
| Measure | Figure | Date |
|---|---|---|
| ABP loans outstanding | ₦949.18 billion | 31 Dec 2021 |
| ABP loans outstanding | ₦629.04 billion | 31 Dec 2022 |
| Reduction over the year | ₦320.14 billion (about 33%) | 2022 |
The auditors said there was "no evidence to show that the CBN was making necessary efforts to recover the outstanding amounts", pointed to "weaknesses in the internal control system", and recommended that the CBN recover and remit the full sum. The CBN replied that the programme had performed "above average" and that many loans had been restructured after the 2020 floods and the COVID-19 pandemic, extending repayment periods.
According to the same report, in 2023 the CBN converted outstanding loans to commodity associations into undated zero-coupon convertible debentures. In plain terms, money owed by those associations was turned into a long-dated instrument that pays no interest and has no fixed repayment date. That changes how the debt sits on the CBN's books; it does not mean individual farmers' loans were forgiven, and the report gives no borrower-level detail.
So ABP is not accepting farmers in 2026. Anyone collecting money to "register" farmers for ABP is not acting for the CBN.
There is no published figure for what each farmer owes. Your obligation is set by your own loan agreement and by how your anchor or association handled the harvest. Practical steps:
Example only, with assumed figures. A farmer received inputs valued at ₦350,000 plus assumed interest of ₦31,500 (9% for one year), so owed ₦381,500. The anchor bought 20 bags of paddy at an assumed ₦15,000 a bag and deducted the value: 20 × ₦15,000 = ₦300,000. The remaining balance is ₦381,500 − ₦300,000 = ₦81,500. If you cannot see a calculation like this for your own loan, ask for it in writing.
The audit findings and the CBN's response point to a few practical lessons for farmers weighing up whatever replaces ABP. First, know exactly what you received. Many ABP farmers got inputs rather than cash, and disputes later arose over the value placed on those inputs. Ask for an itemised list with prices and sign only for what you collected.
Second, understand who recovers the loan. Under ABP the anchor or association was meant to buy produce and deduct repayments. Where that chain broke, farmers were left unsure whether they had repaid. Keep your own copy of every delivery note and weighing slip.
Third, read the restructuring terms if your loan is rescheduled. The CBN said many ABP loans had their repayment periods extended after the 2020 floods and the pandemic. An extension can help, but interest may keep running, so ask for a new written schedule each time.
Finally, check that any new scheme names a regulated lender that will hold the loan, and that you can see its terms on the lender's own website before you sign.
An unpaid ABP balance reported to a credit bureau can make banks and microfinance banks decline or reprice a new loan. Clearing or documenting the balance is often the first step before applying to the Bank of Agriculture or other farm finance in 2026.
Pryme has no role in ABP. If you are rebuilding a record with lenders, a Pryme Naira account held with Solid Allianze MFB and verifiable statements through VerifyDoc.ai give a clear history of farm income that a lender can check.
No. The CBN suspended new lending under its intervention schemes, including ABP, in December 2023.
An Auditor-General's report published in September 2025 found ₦629.04 billion outstanding at 31 December 2022, down from ₦949.18 billion at end-2021.
No forgiveness has been announced. The CBN said in 2023 it would recover disbursed funds; association loans were converted into long-dated debentures, which is not a write-off for individual farmers.
Ask the bank that held your ABP account for a written statement, and your association for produce-delivery records that reduce your balance.
