Ten years, one trunk

The business has changed shape four times and never changed what it was rooted in. Each version was built out of what the last one could not do.

2016E-commerce

An online grocery store, built out of a faulty tab. Selling the food was the easy part — taking the money for it, and moving it, turned out to be the business.

2018OjirehPrime Card

A prepaid card. The first time the company issued rather than resold, and the first time it carried the obligations that come with holding somebody else’s money.

2020Microfinance bank

PrymeSolid Allianze acquired — an existing bank with an existing licence. The perimeter stopped being someone else’s to draw.

2023Multicurrency

More than one currency on one balance, and the rebrand to Pryme. A Nigerian business could hold dollars without holding a second institution.

2026Agentic operations

Accounts that do the work rather than only hold value. Five agents on the account, inside a policy you write — which is where the new mark starts.

Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

AI agents

AI email support: triage, drafting and replying well

How an AI agent sorts a support inbox, drafts replies from your records, handles long threads and attachments, and which emails need a person first.

The short answer

An AI agent helps with support email in three ways: it sorts incoming messages by type and urgency, drafts replies grounded in your policies and records, and keeps track of every thread against a response time. Routine replies with a clear source can be sent; complaints, legal letters, anything about money above a ceiling and anything without a source should be reviewed by a person first.

Email is slower than chat but carries more weight. Customers write longer messages, attach documents and expect a considered reply. Businesses also receive things by email that are not support at all: supplier invoices, sales enquiries, legal letters, job applications and spam. An AI agent earns its place in the inbox by sorting all of that before it drafts anything.

Triage first

Triage is deciding what each email is, who should handle it and how quickly. It is often more valuable than drafting, because it stops urgent messages sitting under routine ones.

CategoryExampleRoute
Routine question“What are your delivery times to Leeds?”Agent drafts or sends with source
Order or account query“Has my order shipped?”Agent, from records
Complaint“This is unacceptable, third time…”Person, with summary
Refund or dispute“I want my money back”Policy check, then ceiling rules
Sales enquiry“Can you quote for 200 units?”Sales
Supplier or invoiceA bill from a supplierFinance
Legal or regulatoryLetter before action, regulator queryOwner, and adviser
SuspiciousUnexpected change of bank detailsPerson; never act on it

Routing outside support matters. A wholesale enquiry answered with a retail returns policy is a lost sale. An AI chief of staff that reads across functions can route these to the right agent or person.

Triage also catches the email that looks like support but is something else. A message from a “customer” asking you to update the bank details on their account, or a supplier asking you to pay a new account, is a classic fraud pattern. The agent should flag these, never act on them, and route them to a person who can verify by a known phone number.

Drafting from your records

A good draft does four things: answers the question asked, applies your policy to the customer’s facts, says what happens next, and cites the source. For example: “Your order 5521 was dispatched on 2 October with tracking number … Our delivery policy (clause 2) gives 3 to 5 working days, so it should arrive by 9 October.”

  • Read the whole thread. Long email chains often contain an earlier promise (“I’ll send a replacement”) that the latest message assumes.
  • Read attachments carefully. Photos, invoices and PDFs carry facts; mistakes in reading them are a common error.
  • Answer every question. Customers often ask three things in one email; a reply that answers one generates another email.
  • Match length to the question. A one-line question deserves a short answer, not a template.

For how grounding works, see answering from your own records.

Send, or review first?

The decision is whether a person sees the draft before the customer does. Start with review for everything, then allow sending for categories where review shows the drafts are reliably right.

  • Can usually be sent: order status, published information, policy answers with a clear clause.
  • Review first: refunds, anything mentioning money above a ceiling, first replies to complaints, anything without a source.
  • Always a person: legal letters, regulator contact, data subject requests, threats, safety issues, bank detail changes.

Data subject requests deserve a note. Under UK GDPR and similar laws, a customer can ask for a copy of their personal data, and there are time limits to respond. An agent should recognise these and route them to a person rather than treat them as ordinary questions. The ICO’s guidance on AI and data protection is a useful general reference.

Worked example (illustrative)

A small software consultancy receives about 40 support emails a day. The agent sorts them each morning: 22 routine, 8 account queries, 4 complaints, 3 sales enquiries, 2 supplier invoices and 1 letter from a client’s solicitor. It drafts the 30 routine and account replies, routes the sales enquiries and invoices, and sends the complaints and the solicitor’s letter to the owner with summaries. The owner reviews drafts in 25 minutes rather than writing 40 emails. These figures are an example.

Keep the sending address honest too. Replies should come from your support address, signed as your business, and the customer should know where to reply to reach a person. Do not invent a staff name to sign AI drafts. If a person reviewed and sent the reply, their name is appropriate; if the agent sent it, sign it from the team.

Response times and promises

Email support fails quietly. A thread that waits five days does not make noise until the customer complains publicly. The agent should age every open thread, warn before a promised response time is missed, and keep a list of commitments made in emails (a call-back, a replacement, a refund date) so they are kept. See measuring support quality. Every sent reply and every routing decision should also be recorded, so a disagreement weeks later can be settled from the record; our explainer on audit trails for AI agents sets out what to keep.

Where Pryme fits

The Pryme Customer Support agent holds the queue against the clock, answers from your own policies with the source on each reply, and escalates what it cannot source. The Chief of Staff routes work across functions, so a supplier invoice reaches Finance and a quote request reaches Sales. Payment-related questions are answered from the same account’s records, and nothing moves money without your approvals.

Questions people ask

Can AI answer customer emails automatically?

It can draft and send replies for routine questions with a clear source in your records. Complaints, legal letters, refunds above a ceiling and anything unsourced should be reviewed by a person.

What is email triage in customer support?

Sorting each incoming email by type and urgency and routing it to the right person or process before anyone writes a reply.

How do I stop an AI replying to a phishing email?

Have it flag requests to change bank details, unexpected payment demands and unusual links as suspicious, never act on them, and route them to a person.

Should AI-written emails say they were written by AI?

Rules vary. The EU AI Act requires people to be told when they interact with an AI system in many cases; check how it and local rules apply to your setup.
