Questions

The things people ask us first.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives people and businesses in Nigeria one account that holds Naira alongside dollars, pounds and euros, and a set of agents that do the running of it — keeping the books, chasing what is owed, answering customers and paying bills. Nothing leaves an account without the owner’s approval.

Can I hold dollars, pounds and euros in a Pryme account?

Yes. A Pryme account holds Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros side by side on one ledger, each with its own account details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area. You can swap between them at a rate you set, and every currency has its own statement.

What is Spaces?

Spaces is available in Nigeria. It gives a shopper money to spend that can only be spent with a participating business. The business is paid into its Naira account whether or not the shopper repays, because Pryme carries the credit. For the business it is free to join, there is nothing monthly, and the customer’s identity is never shown — only a reference and what it is worth.

What do the agents on a Pryme Business Account do?

Five agents come with the account. The Chief of Staff runs the week and keeps what is stuck moving. Finance watches the money and keeps the books as you trade. Compliance keeps the filings on time and screens what moves. Sales chases what you are owed. Customer Support answers your customers and follows up. Each has a job description, a budget and a ceiling you set, and each one proposes rather than acts — nothing leaves the account without your signature.

How does Pryme Pay work?

Pryme Pay takes payments on your own site or on a checkout page you control. The buyer is given a one-time account number and transfers to it from any bank app or by USSD — no card, no OTP, nothing to type in. The money lands in the same account your agents are running, already matched to the order and already in your books.

What are Savings Boxes?

Savings Boxes are separate pots inside a Pryme account, held in Naira. Flexible Boxes can be withdrawn at any time, Fixed Boxes hold to a date, Investment Boxes hold for longer, and Interest-free Boxes earn nothing by design. A business can use them to ring-fence payroll and the tax it withholds, so that money cannot be spent by accident.

Who holds my money, and is it protected?

Pryme is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts and deposits are provided by Solid Allianze Microfinance Bank Limited, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and is a member of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Can I build on Pryme?

Yes. Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

What is Pryme?

Pryme is a financial technology company. It gives you one account that holds US dollars, pounds sterling and euros beside Naira, with an assistant that runs the account for you and asks before anything moves. Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, and further markets open as each licence lands.

Can I open a Pryme account from outside Nigeria?

Accounts are provided in Nigeria today, subject to verification and approval. Foreign-currency balances are held and converted inside that account, so you can hold, receive and swap dollars, pounds and euros wherever you are.

Which currencies can I hold with Pryme?

Naira, US dollars, pounds sterling and euros, side by side on one ledger. Each has its own details — a Nigerian account number, a US account number, a UK sort code and an IBAN for the euro area — and each has its own statement.

How do I send money to Nigeria with Pryme?

Swap at a rate you set rather than the rate of the day, then send to any Pryme username or to a Nigerian bank account. There is no fee to send to another Pryme account.

What does the assistant do?

Eva is the assistant inside the Pryme app. She opens accounts, moves money, saves toward your goals, pays what is due and follows up what is owed to you — and asks you before anything moves.

What is Pryme Rails?

Pryme Rails lets a platform issue a dedicated Naira account number to each of its own customers, collect into it and reconcile against it, over one API — the same rails the Pryme Business Account runs on.

Affiliate marketing in Nigeria: how it works and who pays

How affiliate links, commissions and payouts work in Nigeria, which programmes pay in naira, how foreign ones pay, and what realistic earnings look like.

The short answer

Affiliate marketing pays you a commission when someone buys through your tracking link; the seller pays it out of the sale. In Nigeria, Selar's network pays naira commissions set by each seller (at least 20% for products of ₦50,000 or more and 30% for others), and Jumia's KOL programme pays monthly by your chosen method; foreign programmes usually pay in dollars through a payout service. Most people earn small amounts until they have an audience that trusts them.

How an affiliate sale works, step by step

  1. You join a programme and get a tracking link (or code) for a product.
  2. You share it with people who might want the product: a review, a WhatsApp status, a blog post, a video.
  3. A buyer clicks and buys. The link tells the seller the sale came from you, usually within a set window after the click.
  4. The seller confirms the sale is final (not returned or cancelled) and credits your commission.
  5. When your balance clears and meets any minimum, you withdraw.

The window matters. Jumia's KOL page says its tracking links count sales for "up to 7 days" after a click. If a buyer clicks today and buys in two weeks, you may get nothing.

Nigerian programmes that pay in naira

Selar Affiliate Network

Selar is a platform for selling digital products. According to its own blog (updated August 2025), each seller sets the commission, with minimums of 20% for products priced at ₦50,000 or more and 30% for others. Only digital products are included, with a minimum product price of ₦3,000 (with exceptions). Affiliates who apply through the network pay ₦3,000 a year. Commission goes to your Selar wallet after settlement; naira earnings are available one day after the transaction and can be withdrawn to a bank account.

Jumia's KOL programme

Jumia's KOL page describes three tracks: micro-influencer or creator (minimum 5,000 followers), mega-influencer, and affiliate. Affiliates can start right away; creators are approved within a week. Payment is monthly by the payment method you choose. The page does not list commission rates, a payout minimum or eligible countries, so check those inside your dashboard before you plan around them. Our guide to Jumia's affiliate commissions goes further.

Foreign programmes that pay in dollars

Many software companies, course platforms and online shops run affiliate programmes that pay in US dollars. Two things decide whether they work for you from Nigeria: whether the programme accepts Nigerian residents as payees, and how it pays. Read the programme's own terms on both; do not rely on a blog list, because eligibility changes. Our guide to Amazon Associates from Nigeria covers one well-known case.

Payouts are often via PayPal, Payoneer or bank wire. Payoneer, for example, says a withdrawal to a bank account in a different currency costs "up to 2%", and your bank may charge too. A dollar commission is worth what reaches you after those fees and the exchange rate on the day you convert.

What realistic earnings look like

Example only. Suppose you promote a ₦10,000 ebook on Selar with a 30% commission.

  • Commission per sale: ₦10,000 × 30% = ₦3,000.
  • Ten sales in a month: ₦30,000.
  • Network fee spread over a year: ₦3,000 ÷ 12 = ₦250 a month.
  • Net: about ₦29,750 for the month, if every sale is final.

To make ₦100,000 a month on that product you would need 34 sales (34 × ₦3,000 = ₦102,000). Whether you can do that depends on your audience, not on the programme. People who earn steadily from affiliate links usually already have readers or viewers who trust their recommendations and want the product category, for example a tech reviewer linking gadgets, or a teacher linking exam materials.

Why small audiences earn little

Most clicks do not become sales. If one in fifty people who click your link buys (a figure for illustration only), you need 1,700 clicks to make the 34 sales above. That is why posting links to strangers rarely works, and why recruit-to-earn schemes pitch "easy money" instead. See our guide to affiliate courses and schemes for how to tell the difference.

Choosing what to promote

  • Promote things you have used or can judge. Your audience trusts you once; a bad recommendation costs more than one commission.
  • Match the price to your audience. A ₦3,000 study guide suits students; a ₦150,000 software tool suits business owners.
  • Prefer programmes that show commission, cookie window and payout rules in writing before you join.
  • Say clearly that a link is an affiliate link. It is fair to buyers and protects your reputation.
  • Track which posts produce sales and drop the products that never convert.

Returns matter too. A commission is usually only final once the seller's return or refund window has passed, so a product with many returns pays less than its rate suggests.

Tax and records

Affiliate commission is income. Keep a monthly record of what each programme paid you. Under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 bands, explained by BusinessDay in January 2026, the first ₦800,000 of taxable income is taxed at 0%; above that, rates rise in bands. Our guide to tax on side hustle income explains what to do.

Where Pryme fits

If you earn from foreign programmes, a Pryme account holds USD alongside NGN with its own account details (see multicurrency), so dollar commissions can stay in dollars until you choose to convert with Swap, where the rate is shown first and the fee on its own line.

Questions people ask

How do affiliate marketers get paid in Nigeria?

Nigerian programmes such as Selar pay naira commissions into a wallet you withdraw to your bank; Jumia's KOL programme pays monthly by your chosen method. Foreign programmes usually pay dollars through PayPal, Payoneer or wire.

How much commission does Selar pay affiliates?

The seller sets it, with minimums of 20% for products of ₦50,000 or more and 30% for others, according to Selar's blog. Affiliates who apply through the network pay ₦3,000 a year.

Can I do affiliate marketing without followers?

You can join, but earnings depend on people who trust you and want the product. Without an audience, most links get few sales.

Do I pay tax on affiliate income in Nigeria?

Affiliate income is income. Under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 bands, the first ₦800,000 of taxable income is taxed at 0%. Keep records and check your position with your state tax office.
